I enjoyed D. Gray Man, but it saddens me that the last two seasons will most likely never see dvd release in the West. Granted, the third season had a lot of filler and the 4th season left off in a grey area, because it caught up with the manga, where it 'could' continue on.

Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan - This is just one of those utterly weird series. Twelve episodes of Robot Chicken length (two eps per half hour). Manages to combine the Chunky Salsa Rule with a decent dosing of fanservice. Basically, the main character will in the future develop an immortality drug.

The catch? It stops women from aging physically past age 12...

Well, turns out the big guy in the sky doesn't particularly like that, so he sends an angel (Dokuro) back in time to...fix...the problem while the main character is still in high school. Namely by killing the main character.

Over and over and over again.

But, he gets rezzed every time Dokuro plays whack-a-mole with the giant spikey bat she uses.

I'm not sure if I can +1 it, but it was definitely surreal. Not on the level of FLCL surreal, but surreal nonetheless.

I've been rewatching a few series over the past month.

Forgot that Planetes actually had a happyish ending. It's still one of the very best series when it comes to realism of space.

Ghost Hunt is an enjoyable series with plenty of scare in a few of the cases. May be to intense for some. No where near as bad as any of the Higurashi series. Nice creepy opening music.

Claymore is very good and I'm currently half way through RahXephon.

I hardily recommend any of these series.

I recommend some of my favourites:

Claymore
Medieval anime. Half demon womens with no live aside hunting demons. But everything will change when dark secrets come to the light.

Highschool of the dead
Highschool students see theirselves in a run to survive agains a zombie invasion on their school and city.

Death note
What would you do if you find a magic notebook that can kill someone just writing his name?

Saint Seiya The lost canvas
An old reencarnation of the Saint War of the Saint of Athenea.

I haven't watched the Negima!? redux, but have seen the original series. Started watching the Spring & Summer specials for it and my word...Setsuna is...blatant...over Konoka.

And there was much rejoicing...yay...

The next set of Crayon Shin-chan is coming out on July 26th. I had despaired of ever getting more of that show. Easily one of my favorites when it comes to comedy, even though it's crude as hell.

Madoka has (finally) ended. All I can say is something along the lines of "HOLY **** THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!". Watch it. Even if magical girls and cuteness normally would put you off, give it three episodes to change your mind....

Finally finished all 70 episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura. That last half-ish with Eriol felt extremely tacked on and was used to artifically extend the storyline. Sure, there was a legitimate story in there, but it was nowhere near as good, IMO, as the first half. And then when we finally get to the denoument? It kinda felt like the end of Ranma 1/2, only slightly less.

I'm starting to get very interested in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. On the face of it, it sounds fairly confusing and bizarre, but I've heard nothing but good things about it so far. Cute magical girl story meets cosmic horror story. Definitely not for young kids, despite the art style.

Seen bits of it and some of the Manga Scans as well. Seriously twisted.
Considering it's basically the EVA for Magical Girls. Not +1ing this title just yet, but you should get through ep 4 of this title before judging it.

Tropes Page for the show
Fan Wiki for the show

Otherwise...

While I'm late in seeing this title, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (Tropes Overall IP linked). I am enjoying this title overall. Simply:

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha +1
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (Season 2) +1
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (Season 3) +1

It also might be interesting to see if the MGLN ViVid Manga ever gets a Anime rendition as well.

Thank you for the time...

There better be sum'fin after 36 frickin' volumes of manga!

I've got the first dvd collection of Axis Powers Hetalia + the second season of Negima coming. From what I hear, APH is hilarious. Being able to turn WWII-ish era stuff into comedy? Just gotta see that.

I'm starting to think I need to downsize my anime collection. I've got four bookshelves (3 4-level shelves, one 5-level shelf) filled with the stuff. Think I'm spending around two bills every month on the stuff. I'm just thankful that a lot of the distributors are going to the half-seasons rather than the 4-episode releases anymore. I know whoever finds my stuff after I croak is going to be in the money, what with the LEs and stuff... >.<

Watched the first disc of Axis Powers Hetalia...wasn't expecting the Digi Charat-esque method of episodes, namely the 5-minuteish run time for each.

The stereotyping is insane, but funny. I almost feel sorry (note: almost) for Germany, due to his association with Italy. America and England have a neat little rivalry ya thing going on. Russia sits back and acts nice and friendly, but then scares the heck out of France. Canada gets ignored by everyone. China beats up other countries using a wok and a ladle. And Roman Empire gets two funny little vocals (Hell on Earth is... and Heaven on Earth is...).

I'm a pretty huge anime fan, but I tend more towards Science Fiction stuff, and the more serious end of that. My recent favorites are:

  • Eve no Jikan
  • The Sky Crawlers
  • Rideback
As far as older anime is concerned, I'd say my favorites are Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed ... but there's so much fantastic anime out there, I wouldn't necessarily even go beyond saying that GitS is my favorite. I doubt it will be supplanted, but for the sake of awesome quality everywhere, I almost hope it does.

Some lesser known must sees:

- Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade - Alternate modern day history with a ... unique look on the Red Riding Hood story. Military unit versus Red Riding Hoods: female suicide bombers. It's a movie, not a series, but well worth a watch.

- Crest of the Stars. A series that some don't like because it has spaceships, aliens, a lot of the flxings of normal space shows. But it's not about any of that, it's about the interactions and conversations of the two main characters. Some find it slow and lacking action, and while it's true, watching said characters grow is well worth the entire 13 episodes. That and probably one of the meaniest and funniest pranks a father can play his young daughter. (Just thinking about it makes me laugh...)

Arc #345863 - When The Bough Breaks
"Curse you Perry the Plata...wait, is that Love Handel?" - Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, Phineas and Ferb

Agree fully there. +1 from me as well.

Been meaning to track down that and the two follow up seasons as well. Got the Mangas of all three, just don't have the Anime.

Will also +1 Rideback as well.

Thank you for the time...

Giving the game an Anime look and feel is one of the few things that would cause me to cancel my account. I have had my active account since the 3-day head start, but I would cancel it over this.

I like amime well enough, but bringing it into CoH, well thats just not the game I joined up for, nor the game I wish to play.

Be a hero!!

Think I recommended this before, but if not, then definitely a +1. Same goes for the sequel, Banner of the Stars.

Haven't finished anything recently, but there's a few things I'm watching that are promising:

C - The Money of Soul and Possibility Control - Finance is awesome! Though of course, this being Japan, instead of trading stocks and so forth, people have fights with summoned beings to make money. Pretty interesting plot so far and the action scenes are good. Reminds me in some ways of Eden of the East, not so much the story, but the overall feel of the show.

Hidan No Aria - Basically Toradora! with guns and even less of anything resembling sense. Really stupid, but fun. And Rie Kugimiya is as awesome as ever.

Umineko No Naku Koro Ni - The dying patriarch of a wealthy family summons his scions to his island mansion, supposedly to discuss the inheritance. The results are...well, pretty much what you'd guess from the title, as this is indeed, the psuedo-sequel (different characters, different setting, same themes) to Higurashi

I'll +1 Rideback, also. (watched it a few months ago)

I've been mainly following the new weekly releases on Crunchyroll & Funimation, as of late, and re-watching Samurai Champloo when I get some time.

Control (C), Deadman Wonderland, Sket Dance, STEINS;Gate, Gosick, and World only God Knows are the ones I've been following.....they all have different aspects that I find amusing/entertaining.

The OP for Deadman Wonderland is my favorite of the season, so far. It's a remake (new lyrics) of Fade's song Black hearts and Dollar signs, which I 'think' was also used in GT 5's game music.

Oh wow, I totally didn't think of Crest and Banner. Man, that's an amazing series.

Just as a sidenote:

Don't try to watch any anime you're not familiar with on Netflix with your small children (especially if you have a tendency to skip past all of the description and ratings mumbo jumbo).

That being said; I really liked the original Robotech series, GitS, Ninja Scroll, Appleseed, The Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight and even some of the CN fare (Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal and Samurai Shamploo).

There's a lot of new powers that can be found in some of those *hint, hint* (Naruto is good for that)

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars

Yeah. Sacred Blacksmith is 95% okay for kids, I'd think, but there's that last five percent... not overtly sexual in context, I'd say, but having it in there and not censored would definitely fall into fan service with nothing on... (main female has an inverse Lina Inverse problem...)
