Godannar - Just finished the series and I gotta say...the fanservice looped around to parody levels. My word...not a single woman in that show has ever heard of a bra. Combined with the...excessive...mammary attributes of all but a couple of them, the jiggle factor (a recognized and legitimate mathematic measurement) is through the roof. Even some of the giant robots have a jiggle factor!
That's not to say it's a bad mecha show though. Interesting take on the combining aspect common to mecha series. The enemies are a bit...unrealistic, even for mecha, but rather interestingly designed. Animation quality was quite good. Most of the discs had character profiles/mechanical profiles/etc. as extras, along with the traditional clean opening/closing songs. A bit more than most series have for on-disc extras.
One grip I have is that the number of discs for the series is a bit excessive at seven for 26 episodes. One disc could've been dropped as the final three volumes only had three episodes apiece.
+1
I just finished watching Eden of the East and really enjoyed it. The trailer for it doesn't do it justice as far as action/ plot twists go.
I tried to watch Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt............. (facepalm) -1

Anyway, another recommendation:
Mnemosyne (aka RIN - Daughters of Mnemosyne) - Well, I'll just hand you over to TVTropes who, as is often the case, sum it up better than i can: "All in all, the series is a total seinen bait, featuring nigh everything older male audiences' hearts may desire: cute girls, respectable guys, Mind Screw of a plot, alcohol and blood in equal proportions, a considerable amount of Girls Love... and both types of sex, take your pick. And all of the above without ever going over the top with it. Be prepared to wince a couple of times, though." Very definitely a +1 from me
It's not that I didn't like the humor in Panty and Stocking, it's right down my alley. It just seemed to me that they're trying too hard to push the envelope (my personal opinion), and that's where they lost me.
I have a friend that gave me the same opinion about a series I liked, and currently waiting on the 2nd season to be released, so I can re-watch it all over again....Initial D.
It's kinda soap opera-ish, heavy on automotive cliche', and a fair amount of over-embellishment, but I couldn't stop watching it. The race scenes are done really well, the sound track fits perfectly, and they did a good job of matching up cars with their unique sounds. (car guy thing...)
He liked the sound track, but pretty much face-palmed at the portion of the first season he watched.
Just started watching Lucky Star...
I have no idea what to think of it. It's just so random, though I've only watched the first episode so far.
It's a day in the life of a group of high school girls comic. Similar to Azumanga Daioh in structure (it's manga was also a 4 panel comic) but drawn in a style that makes most of the characters look 9 years old to me as oppose to the "classic" anime/manga style. I was seriously put off by the whole drawn out eating of the pastry skit because I thought they were all were still in elementary school. It gets a lot funnier as the series goes on. The series also pokes fun not only at other anime/manga but MMOs, cosplaying, and other otaku/gamer topics.
One notable trivia about this series is that the main character is voiced by the same actress (I'm talking both the Japanese and English VA) who played as Haruhi from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Several others VAs from Haruri pop in for cameos which makes the jokes and references about Haruhi even more funny.

I like RIN (I own the DVDs but am thinking about selling them so I can get the Blu-Ray). I would +1 it but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for this list. It contains not only blood and gore but there is about one sex scene per episode (haven't seen it in a wile so I could be wrong). It's not a hentai, but it is a mature (TV MA) title.

Also, why not another suggestion:
Tsukikage Ran - A beautiful female ronin with a taste for gratuitous amounts of sake wanders Japan accompanied by a rather ditzy martial artist. Hilarity ensues. A fun, pretty lighthearted series, focusing mainly on the (usually amusing) interaction between the two leads. Sadly, there's only 13 episodes

Yeah, it is definitely not one for kids, but IMO, it still deserves a recommendation, cos it's good. A note can always be made next to it if the list ever gets updated

Also, finished watching the first two parts of Kenichi TMD and have formed a better description of it. Imagine the wimpiest and most cowardly guy you know. Now, throw him into a dojo with, basically, the six best martial arts masters on the planet. You have Sakaki the karate master who likes a cold beer, Kensei Ma the lecherous kung fu master, Shigure the sedate and voluptuous kunoichi/weapons master/carrier of a mouse named Tochemaru, Akisame the learned judo/jujitsu/aikido master, Apachai the enormous and simple/good natured muay thai master, and the Elder whose name and specialty escapes me ATM. Naturally, it's a rather well-endowed and oblivious classmate that gets him involved with these people, as the Elder is her grandfather, and she's no slouch at the butt-kickery either plus she ends up saving Kenichi a time or two.
Now, what would happen if said wimp manages to beat a big, bad karate practioner in one of the high school clubs? And continues to get lucky in his fights? So much so that he attracts the attention of the local delinquent club.
Oh, and the show has one of the slimiest and most repugnant characters I've ever seen. Nijihara the information broker/collector.
I'll get to it when I get to it! Grr...

I have a series, I ordered with a gift card, that should be here next week...Canaan. I've only seen one episode on the Anime Network, so I have no clue if the rest of the series is any good. *crosses fingers*
A few more recommendations. Christmas holiday + boredom = lots of anime watched
s-CRY-ed - A strange disaster create an island out of part of Tokyo, and give the people on it superpowers. They then use said superpowers mainly to fight each other. While nothing that hasn't been done before, s-CRY-ed is still a well worth watch, having both plenty of quality action and some well developed characters - the two antagonists (neither is really a hero or villain) in particular.
Sengoku BASARA - Yeah, I'm slow at seeing some of these, but damn, it was worth the wait. Basically it does for medieval Japan what TTGL did to mecha - go way way beyond the impossible. Maybe there weren't actually mechs and motorbike-horses in the 15th (or whenever) century, but who cares, this is just so much fun.
Dai Mahou Touge - The princess of a magical realm has to spend a year on Earth. You know where this is going? Well, probably not. Best described as a very dark satire, if you find carton violence hilarious, you'll love this. Reminds me quite a bit of Dokuro-chan. Which isn't that surprising as DMT's director was involved in that show too...
Needless - Admittedly, I've only seen the first 5 episodes, so it might change later, but so far this is AWESOME! Stupidly over the top fights, gratuitous amounts of MANLINESS, fanservice, explosions, badassery, fire, lesbians...what more could you ask for from an anime?
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha - This isn't one I've just watched, instead for some strange reason I've completely forgotten to recommend it before. Don't be put of by the title - this is not really your traditional magic girl show. Sure, kids could probably enjoy it, but, once the show really kicks into gear by episode 6 or so, it's clear that in truth, Nanoha is really aimed at anyone who likes great action shows. Imagine an OTT mecha anime - GaoGaiGar for example - swap the mechs for magic girls and you've pretty much got this. The second (A) and third (StrikerS) series just add to it, the latter in particular.

Thank you for the time...
Finished Eden of the East yesterday, I +1 it. I think it would go under drama, or action/drama.
Before that I finished Midori Days. Its a fun little show, +1 it too. Should go under comedy or romance.
And a few shows I forgot to +1 before.
Outlaw Star
Trigun
Macross Plus
Ghost in the shell SAC seasons 1 and 2
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
El Cazador didn't really do anything for me. Saw all the revelations a mile a way. Noir was better.
