Say, thanks for the advice. That site will come in very handy.

Okay, I just checked out the first episode of Ookami-San and her Seven Companions and enjoyed it much much. Very weird mix of fairy tales and high school comedy going on there. I love the narrator and the breaking of the fourth wall.

I can't believe I haven't found a truly boring or bad anime yet this season.

While I get to legally watch some series US people can't get thanks to Animax on cable here in Singapore, I am locked out of Hulu and Crunchyroll content.

I see it as a net loss.

Cross Game. Cross Game. What can i say about Cross game? Other than, well, its amazing.

Sure, its a sports series, and im not a fan of baseball, but i enjoyed every minute of it. The sports sections were realistic (no blowing up the dinosaurs, for example), i cant say enough about the characters, and the the more simplified art was a breath of fresh air compared to modern art styles. It was able to pull of both serious and comedic scenes well, and really, i cant recommend it enough.

Been watching SRW:OG: Divine Wars, and it's pretty much what I'd expected. Nearly every mecha chiche in the book, but done so awesomely it really doesn't matter

Soul Eater was great.

<3 Blair and <3 Maka, gotta love a little girl swinging a huge scythe.
Wish we had a scythe powerset for CoH

Just caught the latest Zettai Karen Children OVA. It's not for those who just came from the anime, since it timeskips into the middle of the middle school arc in the manga.

Speaking of which, have I recommended Zettai Karen Children yet? If not, then here it is. If so, then I'm re-recommending it for being quite awesome.

High School of the Dead has been pretty good so far. I've only seen the first two episodes of this new zombie horror series, though. Animenetwork wants you to pay to see the rest.

Quite enjoying Asobi Ni Ikuyo, as well as High School of the Dead.

Also found some Strike Witches 2, but not gotten around to watching it yet. I have high hopes!

Right Stuf is having a at least 30% off sale on pretty much everything till Aug. 16th. Includes preorders and special order items, but not their bargain bin/weekly specials/closeouts.

Might be the time to stock up if there's some titles you want.

hehehe, I posted my idea for a scythe powerset in the suggestion thread several months ago.

edit: whoops, forgot about DO's post. @Inazuma, if you didn't see it, I can give you a link via PM.

Genesis of Aquarion - Where do I start with trying to describe this? Hmm...OK, imagine if you will, a sexual psychologist making a mecha anime while tripping on acid. And you're about halfway there. Or, in the words of TVTropes, "Teenagers with Psychic Powers piloting an orgasm-powered Super Robot fight evil Shadow Angels from Atlandia who feed on human lifeforce." Equal parts WTF???, /facepalm and HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME!!, Aquarion is pretty nonsensical (unless, I suspect, you're high...) but I still found it thoroughly entertaining for some reason. Highly recommended

Been meaning to mention this for a bit, but:

High School of the Dead +1

I mean let's be honest, this is a fan service title above anything else. The fact it's a fan service title set in a Zombie Apocalypse just adds to the fun. It also has a solid story and some fun action. Save for a story swap and some minor pacing alterations, it's a solid adaption of the Manga.

Thank you for the time...

Yeah, that's great fun. +1 from me too.

Some other stuff I've watched recently:

Unlimited Blade Works - FateStay Night on crack. Probably incomprehensible to anyone who hasn't played the FSN game, it's nevertheless incredibly awesome to those of us who have

SRW OG - The Inspector - So far, it's a bit disappointing. Not bad, but nowhere near as good as Divine Wars. That said, there's still plenty of time for it to pick up.

Panty and Stocking - Gainax just broke my mind. In a very very very good way.

just finished paprika, i am in love. outside of one scene that i wish had been toned down a bit(so that i coudl have shown it to my more anime averse friends as a conversion piece) the soundtrack is amazing, the visuals are a kaleidoscopically beautiful counterpoint to the doldrums we were just arguing about in the "realism" thread. and the story is suitable wonky. easily sits aside serial experiments lain, boogiepop phantom and the great rapid fire hallucinogenic anime mind-@#$%s . satoshi kon will be missed.

There are two new anime series coming out that I highly recommend. Well, actually, they're old, but this is their first US distribution in any form.

Dirty Pair, the Original TV Series. This is not the shorter (10-episode) "Original Dirty Pair" series that did manage to come out in US distribution before. It's the 26-episode series. I have almost all of it on used Japanes VHS, so I'll be looking forward to upgrading to DVDs.

Ghost Sweeper Mikami. The movie came out in the US some time back, but this is the 45-episode TV series. I saw the series more than ten years ago in Japan, and I have a lot of the manga (which sadly hasn't been distributed in the US). It can be fairly silly, but it has a fun cast of eccentric characters.

Both are fun series but be warned that they do show their age in both style and tropes of their time. Dirty Pair is 25 years old now while Ghost Sweeper is over 15.

Wow, after reading the Ghost Sweeper Mikami page I realized that I'm only missing the last volume of the manga. Volume 39 came out after I left. Sigh.

A few weeks back, I found an awesome deal at Wal-mart. The first two collections each of Soul Eater & Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple, and the second season of Gunslinger Girl for $10 each. I just checked at various other retailers and Soul Eater is typically going for $35+ each, Kenichi for ~$25 each, and GG for $25+ (up to ~$45). That was one heckuva find there...

Been watching more stuff:

El Cazador De La Bruja - Deja vu.....it's a Bee Train series featuring two female leads and a lot of gunfights. Where have I seen that before... Unsuprisingly, if you liked Noir and Madlax, you'll like this one too. If you didn't, then you might still like it, as Cazador has a more straightforward plot and a general feeling of lightheartedness compared to it's predecessors. Mainly cos of these two reasons, I don't rate it quite as highly as them, but it's still well worth watching. And it has tacos.

Shakugan no Shana - High school student witnesses a magical battle, meets an odd girl and discovers he's dead and is basically a ghost. A mix of supernatural fight scenes, teenage romance and school hijinx follow. Nothing groundbreaking or outstanding, but reasonably enjoyable non-the-less.

Panty and Stocking - I know I mentioned this before, but after another half-a-dozen or so episodes I have to comment again. To summarise: Two angels with underwear that turns into weapons fight ghosts (and sometimes their evil counterparts) for money while spending their free time eating, bickering and having sex. And frankly, it just gets worse every episode. And at the same time better. If you get what I mean. If not, just watch it and you'll understand.
