Your "Most Fun" Scrappers
1) DB/ELA. I've been waiting for a RES based set with a damage aura and a decent heal for a long time, ELA fits the bill and has even more toys to go with that.
DB has pretty animations and doesn't require much recharge to have a good attack chain. My favorite attack powerset.
Why not Fire or Dark ? Their heals are *too* clicky ; I like healing every minute or so, but when my mitigation depends on healing every 10 seconds it starts being tedious. Fire is also lacking res to psi and Dark is ugly, ugly, ugly (although that might change soon if CoD gets an optional new look where the costume is still showing).
2) DB/Inv. Invul is just so powerful against most opponents, and teamfriendly on top of that.
3) DB/WP. Uh, I don't actually like WP that much, but that's my third scrapper with DB and I like anything with DB over anything without DB.
I'm not going to mention my least liked scrapper as I don't think it's a good idea to do so, inevitably some people are going to love the combos mentioned in that part and might react badly seeing their favorite build trashed.
My favorite so far is the Claws/SR I have built. It's the first toon I've been uber-survivable on, and Claws is just such great fun. Second would be Claws/Regen. I love that one because, while my particular Claws/Regen is that survivable, he's extremely fun to solo with, due to the more interactive secondary.
Most fun for me comes from my concept toons.
Dark Melee/Regen in my sig. True, he was created way back in 2005, true he's still only level 39, I've hit a roadblock of sorts with him. He's either so powerful I get bored, or he's dead before I can blink. Can't seem to find the middle ground.
Claws/Regen - The Woodsmen I just love the look and concept I got with this guy, His claws are actually razor sharp leaves, other costume has steel hard vines. I'm just not crazy about using the same secondary. He's only level 22 but I'm already contemplating rerolling as a Claws/Dark.
Only one I just couldn't get into was my;
BS/Fire - Something just didn't feel right with this combo, I deleted him at level 18.
Maestro Mavius - Infinity
Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard
Keep Calm & Chive On!
Lets see only 3...
DB/Regen is my fav right now. /Regen is a fun set to play and keeps you into the game. DB is just a real fun set to play too. Put them together and it was a blast to play up to 50.
Fire/Fire- This was just a blast to play up to 50. FSC is such a good attack and with BU and FE it makes it that much better. Also with being /Fire FE was just that much better for my attacks.
Well this last one is a hard one to pick for me I like them all about the same
BS/SR-it was my first 50 and as the most badges of any of my toons. I really only play him to get new badges if I'm in the mood to get badges, somethings it just not fun. BS just hits big and /SR gives good def and helps with the recharge of BS.
Now one that I don't like that much I'll tell you when I find it
Kat/Inv - My first, still my favorite. My wife must like it as well, since she has two of them at 50. She never disappoints me and always makes me smile. So much tanky goodness, great threat creation with Invinc, Lotus Drops, Flashing Steel, and Golden Dragonfly. My favorite animations outside of RotP. And she is shiny. Not as shiny as she used to be, but I16 has allowed me to increase the shiny a bit. And I love the Unyielding cage.
Kat/Fire - One of my more recent scrappers (probably only a year and a few months old), but also one of my favorites. Pure damage build, very squishy, needs RotP or else I would have to run back from the hospital too much. Level 43, I just put a KB protection IO into Temp Protection which has helped a bit vs Council/5th and Carnies. More appealing now that I can have blue fire. Caltrops is awesome.
I have a bunch of other scrappers, but none appeal to me like those two.
My new Claws/Elec still has that new scrapper smell and I like her look and concept. So far (1 bub from 23) she is a bit tough to play, much harder than my Kat/Fire ever was. Since I just got Energize and Shockwave doesn't come until 32, I'll reserve judgment, but the low levels have not reflected well on Elec armor (but I am partly to blame, since I have chosen just about every piece of content that could abuse Elec armor). At 24 I will pick up the elemental shield, which should help as well. It could become number 3 for me.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
MA/Regen - Because she was my first. After slogging to 50 with my first character (AR/Fire Blaster), struggling with noobness, a lousy secondary, and the general squishiness of an i4 Blaster, this was easy mode. Plus, MA looks cool. I chose it because it looks cool, and I still think it does.
DB/SR - My first toon to realize that defense doesn't suck. I was late to the softcap party, but she was so much fun to level up, working on my build as I went along and getting more and more awesome all the time.
DM/SD - My current pet Scrapper. I actually rolled her up before I knew it was uber, because I saw all the custom shields and had to have them, and the conversations I'd had with people on test said shields was weak on mitigation, so I picked the primary with the self-heal. Eventually I went on to solo AVs and stuff with her.
Least favorite? BS/Regen. I just couldn't get into it. Too slow, too much dying from delayed button-mashing. I finally deleted her at 41, and rerolled as a Kat/Inv.

1) I love my Kat/SR because she was my first level 50 scrapper. Also, I hit the soft cap on her and she became fairly impressive (which she already was anyway). Plus, her sword looks cool.
2) I like my Claws/WP a lot as well. She was my second level 50 scrapper. WP isnt as survivable on crazy spawns as I'd like but its adequate (inexpensive build). I love her costume. Also, Claws is definitely my favorite primary (I've tried most of them now).
3) ElecMelee/SR is cool. This character has awesome effects, has the cool sparkly new feel, and cool sparky effects. I just dig the character a whole lot, and my experiences with my first /SR are making this one feel pretty comfortable to me.
Dislike) I havent truly disliked any, but WAY back in the day I played a DM/Inv up and got into the mid 20s several times and kept deleting then trying again later. I just couldnt get into it. Eventually I gave up. It just wasnt gelling for me. (Oddly enough, I like my DM/WP a whole lot.)

1) 3-way tie between my MA/Regen, MA/Fire, and MA/WP. As you might guess, I really love the Martial Arts set. The /Regen is at 50, and the other two are just coming into their own in the mid/late thirties.
2) My new scrappers, and Elec/SR and an Elec/Dark. Both are in the teens right now, so it remains to be seen which I will enjoy more in the long run.
My only level 50 scrapper is DB/WP and I will have to say he is my favourite (At the moment) because he is pretty much unkillable against anything, and only a purple set shy from AV soloing recharge. He was my first 50 when I was new to the game and got shelved for about 9 months until I bought a rename, gave him a new costume and started loving him again!
My newest scrapper is Elec/Shield and although only level 22 at the moment I am just loving Electric Melee! And I expect once I get Lightning Rod and Shield Charge she will go to the top of my list. The only thing stopping that now is her squishyness, but what do you expect with 12% defence lol? (I know that can be sorted but I am not spending much on her until level 50, then I will IO her to the gills).
The only scrapper I couldn't really live with was spines/regen, a combo I have tried several times (Even on my old account back in issue 1 or 2 when they were the most overpowered thing ever) and firstly I just don't like the look of spines (Even the new ones as good as they are have very few suitable costume options to match sadly - I want some kind of alien bodyshape so I can use that alien skull thingy!) and secondly spines just feels very slow to me (But as someone who 'grew up' with DB I guess a lot of sets will feel slow since DB has such good rhythm). I am not sure how I feel about regen since it was really the spines that I didn't enjoy.
British by act of union, English by grace of God, Northern by pure good fortune!
Most favorite...
1) My kat/inv. The one I've poured the most inf into... But he's great. The build is a nice all-rounder, good ST damage, good AoE damage and great survivability. Only thing I'd like is a good ranged attack.
2) Spines/Fire and Spines/SR. I might have slight preference on the Spines/Fire. While the Spines/Fire is squishy, it's by far the most damaging character I have currently. Give it bubbles or sonics and you've got an unstoppable machine of spiky death with fire.
3) FM/SR. I don't know really why, but I just like this character. It was the first character I've soloed AVs with, too. I'm now trying to remake her build to fit in Fire Ball...
Least favorites probably MA/Regen and MA/WP. The MA/Regen was an easy trip to solo mostly, but in teams it's just horrible. The lack of AoE and spike damage protection just kills it for me. MA/WP is a bit better in teams with it's higher damage protection and it might become a lot better if I added Fire Ball. Will have to see about that later.

I rarely settle on a nice combo I like that's both fun to play and has a good concept. I only have 2 scrappers in my character list so here they are...
2) Katana/SR - My first 50 and he used to be my favourite character over anything else. He has great survivability, especially now he's IOd out and softcapped And Katana has an excellent ST chain and 2 great AoE attacks (well ones a cone but its a nice wide cone).
1) Spines/DA - My new love affair He's just the biggest ball of AoE ever! His endurance is a right pain to manage and his survivability kinda depends on his self heal, but having said that, its one hell of a self heal! (draining just 2 enemies fills your health bar) I love his concept, everyone loves his costumes and he's just awesomely cool.
BS/Shield - just fun. the punch from BS is nice, and [Parry] goes so well with Shield I can't envision playing one without the other. The AoE keeps the basic opponents in line, but I just love chopping bosses down to size. The lack of a heal makes me sad when the defense fails me though. This is the only character I have ever considered getting the Medicine Pool for, but I just can't figure out what I'd sacrifice for it.
Claws/SR - I like SR. I just want to laugh and say "Nyah! Missed me!" as the spikey bits make a mess. The lack of heal shows up here, but less often as SR softcaps almost without trying.
Dark Melee/Regen - this is still in the teens, parked on Freedom somewhere. He was fun though, as I just felt so invincible with him. Other projects distracted me from him, though. I should get back to it sometime. (Brutes get regen? I've wondered about re-rolling him evil).
Spines/Dark Armor - My first 50 scrapper, and for a while its ruined the AT for me because I couldn't figure out how to play without out all the constant screaming around me. I hadn't played him much recently, but I16 brought him out of the closet - running solo at 8-man is a giggling continuous nuke of minion munching. Its been fun again.
I can only pick 3? But I have 10... Ok. Here goes.
1)Would have to be my first 50 ever. The one that went threw the most trial and error. The one I figured out what contacts I liked, what travel powers I liked, and what pool powers worth it, and what IO sets are helpful. All of this before I knew anything about Mids, a test server or paragon wiki. That would be my DM/Regen. Don't sleep on it, people. That combo rocks.
2) Would be my global name sake. Made due to the desire of not missing and ended up being one of the hardest hitting scrappers I have. It was my 4th 50 so I didn't have much trial and error and pretty much knew what I wanted and needed to do. (Still no mids, test, or wiki) That's my BS/Regen scrapper. Nothing like a good head spliter to make them remember who you are.
3) Is just level 40 right now but it screams fun all around. DB/Inv. The pure flashyness of Dual Blades combined with toughness that is invul. The strong taunt aura allows me to do use my all time favorite tactic. Corner herding then the sweep combo. Its all about the "Slash! Slash! Slash!" Every time I do that, I get that ECW theme song in my head "Let the bodies hit the floor". The best part about it is they can't hit me. (Unless its psi but I have toys to help with that bothersome hole)
The combo I couldn't grasp was claw/dark. I tried several times but I just couldn't get into it. Its strange because my claw/dark stalker rocks. It seems it would make sense that the same set with a dmg aura and an aoe attack added would be better. Oh well.
"All problems can be solved by throwing enough scrappers at it."
@Riez on Virtue, Protector, Champion, and Exalted server.
Fire/sr - I have found my fire/sr to be very enjoyable, fast movement, cuts through mobs like a hot knife through butter because three of its attacks actually use a gigantic hot knife . Ah now I want to rename him! I really like that you can have different colored fireswords for each attack and that depending on how you attack the model will stay active for quite some time. So with a bit of though I can use a purple sword for all my sword attacks and then switch it to a green sword for a while. Neat little mini-game.
BS/shield - I originally rolled a dm/shield brute and took it to the mid 30's, but the total lack of aoe damage wore me down. Bs/shield has been a good solid toon from lvl 8 on. The only thing that bothers me is that shield charge causes redraw. That and I wish it was actually a kat/shield (if possible) as I really like goldendragonfly and soaring dragon animations.
elec/fire - dunno, this toon is only lvl 16 so far and it has been painful up to this point as the st damage is low and the aoe is anemic so far, but this toon will eventually turn into a walking nuke. I even plan to use rotp offensively once the toon has enough bonuses to make it effective with no active buffs running. Yes I plan to actually let myself die...and often. So I'm aiming for high recharge rather than trying to pimp out survivability super high, that way L-rod and roflecopter of the pheonix will be up more often.
DB/SR. Sexiness incarnate.
The only scrapper I've really enjoyed playing is my first, a DM/Regen. I've tried various builds and enjoyed them all. There's times I feel envious of the AoE mob-killers, but I have other ATs to play if I want AoE joy. My DM/Regen is a boss-killer, and she does that extremely well.
She's also my most scalable AT, and doesn't feel crippled in lower lvl TFs or PvP zones. She solo-d all of the Oro badges without any major problems.
I haven't found another AT that can handle bosses like her (although I'd imagine DM/SD would be slightly more effective), and she's just a hell of a lot of fun to play.
I've played various scrappers to the 30s, only to delete them. My Kat/WP is boring, the claws/SR never felt like it was coming together, and the BS/Dark was far too slow with major end probs.
Well love my DM/SR, was my first level 50, and also is my only scrapper to solo AV's since the regen changes to AVs. Also like the concept too
My Claw/WP was the most fun to level, and still exemps well, generally a lovable character.
My Spine/Inv is my fun AoE, just cause it can stand around much longer than my other AoE scrappers and I love my regen that I scraped together though sets too, makes it feel tanklike at time
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled

They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk

I have yet to run a Scrapper that was not fun, but for most fun, I would probably have to say my DM/Shield/Fire. Maybe it is all the AoE goodness and the softcapped Defense. Maybe it is the Kineticist that he runs with, but for some reason when I am playing him I feel like I am just simply bringing the noise.
11 months of all-nighters, messy feeding sessions, bath fighting and realizing just how good my son's lungs work, and I am still convinced he is the crowning accomplishment in my life. What in the blue HFIL is wrong with me?
My new Elec/Elec is already in her 40s. I love that combo so very very much. I pretty much live full time in 8-man spawns of Rikti now.
I'd still rather be playing it on a Brute, though. I enjoy Fury more than Critical Hits, and all these recovery tools feel kind of wasted without a Fury Bar to keep full. Once GR is live, I'll probably wind up shelving this scrapper, but she'll almost certainly already be 50 by then.

3 Favorites eh?
1) DM/DA - through every issue release, I've enjoyed this combination and will continue to do so because its the jack of all trades...a little of everything from psi resist, built-in stealth, mez protection, inherent tohit debuffs in attacks, heal powers, endurance gainers, damage and mez auras. WoW! And almost forgot...Midnight Grasp...c'mon tentacles!!
2) DB/SR - while not everyone is sold on using combos, DB has some great animations that make the set enjoyable to see in action and everybody likes having mobs go *whiff whiff whiff* with SR. However, like pure defense sets...if you don't like to see a sudden drop in hps because an EB/AV just nailed ya go with a resist set.
3) Fire/Fire - Excellent AoE goodness that is enjoyable thematically and easy to level.

I've eight Scrappers at 50, so this was difficult...
1) BS/Regen - Burst damage is incredible and /Regen's interactive play keeps me entertained. Using Parry, the migitation is awesome! I mainly use this Scrapper for soloing or in small teams with the SG.
2) DM/Inv - The utilities in this build keep me respeccing consistently to attempt new ambitious strategies with this powerful build. Having 71% S/L resistance is amazing, too!
3) Spines/Fire - Usually used for farming. When supplied with additional +DMG buffs, this toon is outrageous in terms of damage.
BS/WP - /WP is very monotonous and is simply 'Toggle and GO!'. I honestly can't conclude any positive aspects that make the toon enjoyable for me. My experience would have probably been more fun with an AoE distinctive primary, though.
I have to go with
My new elec/sheild. prolly some new character shiny, but I have wanted elec/ for scrappers for a long time, and blue instead of red is a big plus for me. I like his look, I like the animations, and it will have solid AoE that is sort of non-traditional with two TP attacks and chain induction/thunderstrike.
I would also have to say my expensive kat/SR. he can chain soaring dragon/golden Dragonfly pretty well non stop. he also sprints faster then base fly speed(before flight speed change recently) runs faster then slotted fly with elude. Makes going through a mission extremely fast paced, flashy and fun.
third is harder, I have a few i like, but I would have to say my MA/regen. he is a troll character, with a tsoo sorcerer hat that learned to "smash like ninja rawr" from a how to video he stole. I slotted the stupefy knockback proc in thunderkick, and put one in Eagles claw. it is hilarious. Kick a guy in the face, he goes flying backwards over his pals head. Crane kick a guy into the wall, he starts to get up, kick him in the guts and he flys arms and legs flailing. Eagles claw, jump in the air, kick guy in face, guy goes flying. Its random, hilarious and provides good mitigation. I bound em tarzan to my keyboard so I can troll rawr and beat chest at will. I have also decided devouring earth were made for MA. Knock a weed monster down, they get up slow, rock monsters eat smashing damage. But, most importantly, using crane kick to finish off a rock monster is priceless. hard kick square to the chest and they explode into tiny pieces as they fly backwards, makes me laugh every time. I have more powerful scrappers, and i cant say they arent as fun, but the light hearted feel of this one puts him in a special place.
as for not like? Not really a fire/ fan as I prefer the tank version 1000%. tried a fire/fire, didnt like it enough to keep it.

I'd say my DM/SD gets top nod at the moment, though my new Elec/SD is right behind him.
DM/SD has it all, the ST damage is out of this world with soul drain, some decent AoE, and insane survivability between being softcapped and having SL as a heal.
Elec/SD just hit 38. The two tele-nukes are insane. Been running +1 +8's since level 32 and haven't looked back. Current stats are 40% Melee Defense 37% ranged 30% AoE with 40 or 45% global recharge. When this thing gets IO'ed to the teeth I'm afraid it might take over the top spot by just how much AoE damage it can unleash. So far hasn't really bothered me relying on inspirations here and there after my DM/SD did it all pretty much without.
For third, that is tough. Probably my Fire/Regen as a PvP toon. Hits like a truck, harder then all get out to kill. Might roll up an Elec/Regen because of how hard Thunderstrike hits and between that and L-Rod might be able to deal with pesky MM's better.
Least favorite - Easy - My MA/Inv. Was a pain after ED/GDN was a pain all that time before IO's. And now? Nothing really draws me to it that another scrapper in my arsenal can't do better and quicker. Ma gets style points, but not enough to keep me interested it.
Katana/SR - I like this combo so much I have 2 of them at 50 on different servers. Smooth levelling with softcapped melee from early on with DA, then respec it out when you softcap properly. Reasonably cheap to make this softcapped and very survivable.
ElM/shield - liking this one, lvl 29 so far, got a glimpse of how much fun it's going to be when there was a bubbler on our SPTF and I was beating the tanks to the groups and going to town on them.
Love/hate relationship - claws/invul, don't like the KB on shockwave, sort of need the mitigation, disliked the toon enough it took me 53 months to hit 50, got energy torrent at 47, and then started loving it.
Dislike - MA/any - having big KB on your main ST attack at lowish levels an inconvenience too far for me.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
Hey, I figured I'd start a for fun thread rather than a powergaming, numbers thread.
This one is about your favourite Scrappers and why. I'm going to say let's limit it to 3 Scrappers you love and one that you're not digging so much. I'll go first.
1) Claws/Dark Armour. I have to put Black Bellatrix as number one on my list for most fun. This is actually a recent change and it's partly because of i16 that she's able to take the top spot. Having larger spawns makes her feel a lot more powerful and endurance friendly. She just seems to offer a bit of everything. Decent single target and AoE, a ranged attack which is so great for runners and a fantastic heal. I feel like a blender when I go into radio missions and I love taking a couple friends into a Carnie mission set at +2/x8 and watching them hesitate while I dive straight into a huge group and mulch them.
2) Dark Melee/Fiery Armour. This one is only level 22 (with a Brute counterpart at 10) and I can tell already that this is going to be one of my favourite toons. I'm playing both of them, the Brute and the Scrapper, without Stamina and am just going to rely on Dark Consumption and Consume. I can see once this guy gets IO'd out, he may replace Bella as my favourite. The two sets just have so much synergy and there is always lots to do. It's fun actually taking damage and just using Siphon Life and Healing Flames to shrug it off. Already, I don't feel I need Stamina and that's with Dark Consumption only 3 slotted and Consume with only one slot. It's only going to get better as they get slotted up and I pack more global recharge into the build. I really can't wait for Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace as well. Just an amazingly fun combo.
3) Katana/Electric Armour. This one is still a lowbie but as soon as I picked up Divine Avalanche, I could tell I was going to be enjoying him. His AoE is quite good but he is a little squishy right now. I'm sure that will get better with age, however. He's also going the No Stamina route, but I think I might dual build into Stamina at 20 and then at 36, switch builds back and just use Power Sink and Energize. I think he'll require more strategy to play as far as timing Energize and such, but he already seems like he'll be a beast. I can't wait until he gets higher up.
Now, as far as my least liked Scrapper that I actually played to a decent level, I'd have to say:
1) Martial Arts/Super Reflexes. He's sitting at 39 right now and I know he's on the cusp of going from "Meh" to being halfway decent. It's just depressing when I run a mission in the RWZ and I'm fighting a Chief Soldier and doing absolutely no damage and then getting hit twice in a row, sending me to the hospital. He's getting close to soft-cap. I'm at 39ish Melee/AoE with 42ish Ranged. Next level will probably see a set of Gaussian's in Focus Chi and then Conserve Power and Physical Perfection (plus two Chance for End procs) will go a long way to fixing his huge endurance problems. I really think something needs to be done about the Smashing damage. I'd go as far to say that some attacks should be hybridized with Psi damage to make them a little more effective. Would make sense with the Focus Chi thing.
