The Pre-Issue Blues
No, not at all
But take a break if you feel you need one

Not I either. And with all the 'extra' goodies that we are finding out that are in it, I can't wait for it to hit live!
Still here, even after all this time!

Not necessarily waning, but I do have ideas for characters using the powersets in i16 (and additional possibilities from GR, especially with side swapping). Plus, there's the whole color-changing aspect of Power Customization to think about.
Getting antsy, really.

Not me. Roleplaying keeps me from thinking too far ahead about upcoming stuff.
...Never. I don't even log on to test server to look at new features, except for one time my friend asked me to try out his MA arc.
Please don't take this as a whine about how the game is dying and doooom. I'm happy with the game as it is and don't intend to leave anytime soon. It's just that most of the features announced in the year Ive been playing have been more "oh, that's neat" rather than "Exciting!" But I'm content with what we have.
Kinda, but not really. Although I am taking this time to try out a free trial of Final Fantasy XI.... Let's just say that's not going to well so far.
Yes it is happening to me right now. I don't want to play to much because I want I16 to be here. I can't play my Scrappers because I want to make the mish harder for them I want to switch all the colors of my power for all my toons. This is the first time this has happen to me, I guess I16 is just that good! But it will pass and I will love the game more then ever.
TBH, Issue 16 can not come fast enough.
Nope, still playing here. Going to have my 16th level 50 character in time for Issue 16.

Just so you don't feel like you're alone, I have the Pre-Issue Blues. I'm not even playing lately. When I'm waiting for a new issue to come out, I lose interest in the game because I don't want to play the game without the new stuff. It's really bad now because I'm not just waiting for i16 but also GR. Though I plan on making at least 4 characters when i16 hits, so that'll keep me busy.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I've had the pre-Issue blues overlap with the post-50 blues, so I'm not playing that much. I like getting online, chatting on my global channels and playing slowly.
I have it pretty bad this upcoming issue. I've got a ton of characters that I don't feel like playing until I've changed their power colors. Plus I have a SS brute in mind, but I don't want to create or play him until the alternate animations are available. It's maddening.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
New issue announcements don't make me less interested in the game, quite the opposite.
Right now I'm playing quite a bit, etching the memories into my mind, so that when someone asks "Hey, remember when we couldn't change the colors of our powers?" or "Hey, remember when we couldn't set our spawn sizes/levels?" I will lean back in my chair, eyes glazed over in introspection, then reply "Yes. Yes I do."

Not so much Pre-Issue Blues for me as Pre-Issue Too-Much-Coffee-As-I-Wait-Impatiently
I kinda do have a Pre-Issue Blues, I can't wait till I16 and indeed I don't want to "waste" characters . Together with me playing some game's beta I hardly log in at the moment.

@Lyrik
This only happens to be occasionally. Only if the announced issue contains lots of things that I think are excellent... like when the first round of Power Proliferation was announced. Now, with both i16 (full of awesome) and GR (probably full of even more awesome) I am beginning to lose interest in playing. I have focused on only one character instead of spreading around my play time to a lot more characters.
I am actively awaiting making a Spines/Elec Scrapper to replace my languishing Spines/Fire Scrapper. I also have shalved a few characters so they can "Go Rogue" in GR (not to mention my planned Dual Pistol character). All in all, I am too stoked about up and coming things to focus on the here and now things.
(Not to mention I have been a lot busier of late than usual...)
I get that about every other or every third issue (been here since about i6 I think it was... *puffs on pipe and gazes meditatively into the distance for a spell...*)
My current problem right now is that I have seem to have started abandoning toons somewhere past the 35th level, my last-created four toons are about 44, 47, 37, 39 and 35. Part of this is due to indecision about which Patron to go with (almost always playing redside). One of those I have chosen direction for - even have her power choices, slots and IOs chosen - but I can't seem to get the oomph in me to go get her to 40; I think that's my altitis at work, to be honest.
I also can't seem to muster up any drive to work on a new AE arc, knowing that since it's not a farm no one will play it unless I heavily invest myself spamming about it here on the forums, which seems like a waste of time.
In the long run I'll probably just stick to that one toon who's build I have planned out as that will be the path of least resistance. Or I might rot my brain watching cheesy sci-fi from the 70s and before and not play for a bit. I always come back....
No, if my interest wanes at all then it has very little to do with issues really - it's more because I'm getting burned out on the gameplay itself and/or not overly attached to the current characters I'm levelling and thus it's a sign I need a break.
I've only taken one break since I started playing CoH in I5 - it lasted a year from I9 to I12 (during which I played that really popular unmentionable MMO plus several closed beta tests) - yup, when I got bored not even the promise of inventions could keep me around. Funnily enough now I'm back I'd say Inventions and Powerset Proliferation are the two main features they've added to the game since CoV's launch that are responsible for keeping me here - I would like some fresh Dev-created mission content though, so I'm more excited about Going Rogue than I16.
Does anyone else ever find their interest in the game waning when a new issue is announced?
When I play these days, I find I'm thinking a lot about whats upcoming, and it actually puts me off playing the current build, because I want to "save" my characters for the new build, in a weird way. And then when it hits Open beta and I get to test the next issue, I won't be able to go back to live because I miss all the neat new stuff that I saw on Test. It always seems like I end up taking a break from the game proper before the launch of a new issue. Anyone else feel this? |
Every single issue i get this and my reasons differ for each issue. For i12 [DB right?] i couldnt make a new alt since i REALLY wanted a ghost pirate [think lechuck] and everything else seemed not as cool. I12 got released and i no longer wanted one!

Just looking forward to all my new alts [noob trap - traps/elec defender

First time ever... I have an alt I am "seriously" playing... and I don't wanna do it because...
Her name is Farrah Farma, and well Issue 16 just can not come fast enough.

I feel strangely elated right now.
Normally I do have a slight slump before a new issue but not this time. I'm planning out what colours I'm going to have for all my characters powers, and for some reason I'm finding that this to be rather compelling

Yeah, I experience it, specifically with particular characters that I know will be much more fun (or whose costume/power color will be much better) after the update. And then there are the toons that I stop dead in their tracks until I decide if newly proliferated powers merits re-rolling them.
To keep busy, I play around with characters who won't be as affected by the new update, 'cause I know they'll get no love for some time once the update comes. "Course it helps I have a gazillion alts to switch to when this happens.
I've had the pre-Issue blues overlap with the post-50 blues, so I'm not playing that much.

I do rather like WoW, but based on previous experience I'll tire of it in two or three weeks, just in time for my current sub to CoH to run out... or get renewed.
