The Pre-Issue Blues
I definitely lose a bit of interest in actually playing when a nifty new issue is around the corner. Granted, my definition of "nifty" is not the same as everyone else's, but still...
Yeah, it's like I don't want to spend time playing, cause I won't be playing with all the sweet new stuff that's going to be out. Weird for me, cause I generally live in the present.
*shrugs*
There are stages:
Announcement - very exciting, play a bit more, talk with friends about how cool this looks.
Closed beta - usually scale back a lot at this point. Can't respec on test. Time to do other things; the game will be there and shinier when I come back. Still read the forums though, and poke my head in now and then.
Open beta - dive into that the instant I can, duh. Do all the respecs I need for the new issue (must always have free respec available), start any new characters with currently available powersets, then when I run out of stuff to play with on test, back to hiatus because the new stuff is too cool to play without, now.
Issue release - it's *on*.
So yeah, I almost always wind up with a little break from the game before a new issue, unless it's just content (sorry, it's powersets, costumes and QoL that do it for me). It's not my interest in the game that wanes, though, just my interest in playing during the lame duck period.
Angel Witch II - Chord of Souls - Storm Witch II - Princess of the Dawn - Standing Horse - Witch of Xymox
Silent Scream - Shadow Witch II - Liquid Serenade - Nebulous Dawn - Ghost Witch II -Xiberia
I've got several character concepts that I want to create (finally play that MA scrapper I keep rolling and deleting, not to mention the small thing about the Archery/TA Corruptor!)
Ahem.
But I'm playing my VEATS for now and I'm quite happy to level them for the moment.

Just so you don't feel like you're alone, I have the Pre-Issue Blues. I'm not even playing lately. When I'm waiting for a new issue to come out, I lose interest in the game because I don't want to play the game without the new stuff. It's really bad now because I'm not just waiting for i16 but also GR. Though I plan on making at least 4 characters when i16 hits, so that'll keep me busy.

this x 1000
exactly this
but i hadn't even thought about the GR problem until you mentioned it........ wonder if i16 will be enough, or will i have to wait until GR comes out to get out of my funk?? damned addictive game, always running my life and whatnot

Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"
I can't seem to get the oomph in me to go get her to 40; I think that's my altitis at work, to be honest.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

No pre-issue blues here. I take the Murphy's Law approach and am instead glad the new bugs and glitches haven't arrived yet.
See? Optimism.
Yup, I feel this. I'm holding out 'till i16 for an Earth/Earth Dom and Arch/TA Corrupter. I've been keeping myself busy working on my AE arcs (But one of them needs GR to be made in the first place lol)
