Good financial look for NCSoft!

Aion is doing very well for itself so far, and when it launches in NA I think it'll do well too. More money for the parent company is (usually) nice for all the children too.

Looks like the parent company is doing pretty good. Always nice to see gross revenue increasing faster than operating expenses!
Oh come on... certainly this must spell DOOOOOOM somehow. Are we not even trying anymore?

That would be amazing unless my hair messes up while flying.

On second thought...

I think with the current state of our servers, i think they should first consider buying new hamsters. Or at least feed the current ones.

It does. The revenue is gross! We don't want it! Take it back!

Very good news indeed, keep it up NCSoft! I just added 70 bucks towards their 3rd quarter with an Aion purchase.

Ah, someone beat me to it.

A couple of other numbers ( in million of Korean Won )

CoH/V sales

2Q08 - 5,743
1Q09 - 6,837
1Q09 - 6,673

Yes that's down 2.4% quarter to quarter. However it did better than the drop in total game sales.

2Q08 - 76,408
1Q09 - 125,994
2Q09 - 119,066

That's down 5.5% Q2Q.

They also changed their estimate for total CoH/V income from 25,000 to 26,000.

Erm I must be doing something wrong.

I ran 116 million Won into a Currency Converter to USD and it came out 96,377.4217 USD. That can't be 96,000 USD can it? That seems...low.
1 KRW = 0.000809445 USD 1 USD = 1,235.41 KRW

I'm not sure which number you're converting, but suspect you might be mistaking 116,000 millions of won for 116 millions of won, which would work out to $96 million dollars.

Someone said traffic for City of Heroes is down - is that true? Does that mean that Aion is compensating for lowered income from City of Heroes?

Aion is blowing CoH away, actually. It'll never pay off the Tabula Rasa debts on its own though. It's a big company, many pies in the oven and CoH is but a small, tasty one.

Not doing anything wrong kara.

There is a starcraft tournament going on in Korea called the Gomtv.net Intel Classic. Its top placing is 50 million won. That equates to roughly 45K USD.

The Won is best matched against the US penny.

That might lead someone to conclude that Going Rogue is not scheduled to be released in the current financial year.

While NCSoft seems rather interested in CoH, it's never been a big part of it's earnings. Best I can tell, CoH has been profitable for NCSoft, but still just a drop in their financial income bucket.

SI Radio has many DJs and listeners whom hold City of Heroes close to their hearts. We will be supporting many efforts to keep CoH ALIVE!!

Not necessarily. Revenues for Going Rogue box sales are likely to be 4-6 months out after the sales actually happen (this is typical). Revenues from subscriptions are not likely to be accounted for until 3 months after launch. Going Rogue release for the end of the year (near the end of Q4) would be a scenario that would probably not yield any appreciable income increase for this year. Expected returns would be seen in the first two quarters of 2010.
