Urm, ok so maybe this is just me.

I can't seem to get the signature image to work. It seems to upload, doesn't give me any error but doesn't display on the preview. I also can't seem to hotlink to one on my host...

I've tried a PNG and a GIF... is this perhaps limited to jpg only? If so thats kinda lame.

png > jpg

And yes it was smaller then the specified sizes in both respects.

>_>

Also the limiting to only five lines of text in the signature seems odd too. I mean my current Sig isn't long but its apparently too long for the current requirements.

It'll take some getting used to, but everything looks great.
I noticed that some sections have been consolidated or removed completely, under PvP.

A pleasure to meet you also, and +1 to merging the server lists. I like Defiant, don't get me wrong, but my altitus would love to stretch it's legs on an additional 11 servers

But.. just for those coming in late try this link: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/profi...do=editoptions and if you don't want images turn the image options off.
What if we thought it was better that it was GLOBALLY off and not allowed at all?

Pic sigs are obviously, beyond all obviousness, worse than text sigs. Even an ascii art text sig would be... "less bad" than pic sigs. "Picture is worth a thousand words..." and all that. In a forum that is text focused, pictures in signatures is always a ridiculous siren with lights blaring away in peoples back pockets. They somehow claim to get used to it sitting there screaming away as they walk from person to person never considering how they affect others.

Maybe they already went and turned it off like they should. You don't want people running astray with screen-sized grainy images or seizure-inducing animated gifs. It's something you can do in a small, easily controllable community of a few hundred people.

Freedom of expression still means painting the walls of their cave with their own fecal matter to too many people.

Throw my vote in to retain my signature image.

You can pry it out of my signature when I'm dead Until then, here it is in glorious 400x120 beauty

In fact, I'll be making a new version at the max size (600x120) shortly

Fantastic! This is much better! Appreciating having access to french forums too!

Had the same problem - just use [IMG] tags in the text area of your sig. Worked fine for me.

My biggest gripe has to do with the banner. Honestly. It isn't a "huge thing" but it is annoying to me. I have a dual monitor setup - I have a 24" and a 19", I keep my browser on the 19", well at 1280x1024, I can't see GW or Sister Psyche at all (just a bit of Sis's arm). Which means for people with less than a 24" monitor (or at least something like 1700px or more width to their screen resolution) they cannot see the females on the banner.

Personally, I'd rather see (since you did two different banners anyway to change the "City of Heroes" to "City of Villains") the Heroes only on the hero banner and the Villains only on the villain banner. I have absolutely zero desire to look at Statesman personally. If nothing else, maybe some additional skins for each signature hero/villain without the others in the picture? Even if all the other colors were the same and it was just the banner changed in each skin I'd be happy.

But seriously, a resizable background to at least allow the girls to be in the view if the window isn't open to 1900px wide? Something? I know it's not a functional issue or even a major issue, but it is something that I do care about. Whoever created the one size = huge background needs to look at the fact that not everyone has a gigantic monitor and even those people on smaller screens might actually like to see the females in the banner. (Really I just want a females only banner, get rid of the guys!)

(LOL went for a quick reply and now you have to QR directly to a person? Why not just a quick reply to the thread in general. This was one of those annoying *** traits with the "QR" tag in the old forums...)

Thought of a decent option for some folks out there with the annoying global pics vs. signature pics thing. If you are a Firefox user go for an addon called Adblock Plus and you can right click and remove specific pictures. No more glowing Halo dudes or demons and such if you don't like them. You may find this handy for animated avatars and silly

Much love and all, Obsidius, but that's pretty damn atrocious based on your choice of colours alone already. Unless they add the City of Clowns in Going Rogue. Seriously, it's pretty much lending weight to the anti-image side.

I wouldn't be laughing so hard if it wasn't true.

I wish a could remember which great soul made my signature picture, but I can't, and I've never had the pleasure of being able to use it.

I was rather looking forward to it.

Anyway, http://pages.suddenlink.net/dmweb/billz.jpg is it. Simple. Small. Only 500X75 and 13KB. Gives me invalid URL when I attempt to use it.

I like the sig images cause I can finally use the sig skittles I've been using on the RO forums here. But if they go away that's okay too.

I would like the IMG tag to stay for threads. It means less work for Mods when events happen at least.

Even with all the bonus carriage returns you chucked in, your sig picture is bigger than your contribution to the thread, makes me LOL. When you throw in a one liner it's literally 10+ times larger than the post!

Edit: Oh and hey look at that, the  smiley doesn't work anymore and there is no quick smiles!

I went with all sig's off. I'm glad to loose the text colors that some seem unable to not use. And the information is close at hand, if need be (just click their name).

And for those wanting the english forums expanded (or Francais/Deutsch), just redo your bookmark to that page.

Now that you mention the banner... Seems positron finally got to wee wee. He is no longer weaving in withholding agony

I'm pretty chuffed with the quality of these boards and how quickly they're loading for me. Congrats NC. There are some things to get used to and work out of course, but I bet in a month (nearly) nobody will feel any worse off.

And +1 to the call to merge the server lists.

I like how you talk about freedom of expression as if it were a bad thing, and then continue telling people what to do. Perhaps you just want freedom for yourself?

This be truth. Not tested it really but I suspect any links to within the boards that were extant when they were migrated will be borked just because the links are still pointed to the old boards. Which no longer exist. Means the guide-guides will be broken too.

Well crud. Used the BB [img] tag and it shows up in preview but not in my posts even after saving?

EDIT: ah HA... new post it shows on. Woot.

Be well, people of CoH.

Just manually type the [img ] [ /img] tags and place your link inside.

Also in case anyone forgets, the boards have a specific maximum size, anyone posting with an oversize image can get reported. It would be easier to moderate if images could only be uploaded in the specific sized or less rather than linked.

ASCII text images better than graphical, lol!

Lol I was a few seconds too late!

1)I'm liking the new look/feel.

2)But they're much slower than the old boards for me.

3)I like the picture sigs.

4)But I'd both add an option to turn them off if you want and severely reduce the size of them. 600x64 at most.

5)WYSIWYG editor is great.

6)But the smilies need updating for the different themes, currently those that appear on a dark background have a pale fringe. Also I loath the fact that they are all different colours. Suggestion: Add new smilies customised to the colour of the them... perhaps even customised to be evil/heroic/generic - demon/angel/something else.

7)Can we please have a non-optional flag near the avatar that shows our region? Instantly see if someone is EU or US.

Truthfully? I tend to know better than most people. Not all of the time, not on more specific topics such as, say, quantum physics, mind you. But the bottom line is that empirically I'm right more often than I'm wrong.

Which pretty much marks the odds in my favour.
