Funny, I thought subscriptions had went up since I13... oh well.

You have to look at the bigger picture. The profit might not have been significant enough to keep the jobs, hell it would have had to be one major issue that pulled in droves of people for these jobs to remain, if your talking about profits. An increase in numbers is still an icnrease in numbers!

And just the issues aren't developed in brighton, so they have a more adverse affect on the situation
Our favourite source of the day has a new article of relevance.
It looks like some of the US employees will be affected and the development/QA positions from the UK are moving stateside.

Just cos their sales revenue increased does not mean they were even making a profit at all.
My sympathies to all those losing their jobs, I hope you manage to find re-employment soon. I too am at threat of redundancy, fun times 
To those bashing NCSoft for making redudancies, I would suggest they stop. Companies rarely, in my experience, enjoy having to drop staff. Unfortunatly, for a lot of service providing companies, salaries is one of the biggest proportion of costs. If a company is to continue in the current climate, cost cuts are necessary which inevitably either means job cuts or stopping work for a period of time.
It's not a personal attack as some of you seem to believe, but running a company in a responsible way (instead of running it into bankruptcy/administration etc).

Dang not good news then. My sympathies to those who lost their jobs.
I must say that I to would be willing to flush all my toons down the toilet. If we get moved that's one thing, but flushing them means I will be gone as well.
It seems that the update server is down. And with the whole staff probably sitting in the pub I expect this not to be solved fast.

Euro development jobs moved to US, confirms NCsoft
NCsoft has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that development positions in the UK are to be moved to North America.
Some 55 development staff were axed in Brighton today, leaving the remaining team to concentrate on European sales and marketing.
The European office is transitioning to have a stronger focus in marketing and sales, with many of the existing disciplines being consolidated in our studios on the US West Coast and our headquarters in Seattle, said a spokesperson for the company.
Additionally, we are transitioning to an embedded quality assurance model in which the QA staff works in our studios directly with the development teams, providing support throughout the entire development process.
The publisher said that as many as 90 employees across the group will be affected by the changes.
Some development and community roles may be recreated in Seattle and California said NCsoft, and there is also a possibility that the sales and marketing team in the UK will grow.
In order to solidify and streamline company operations across all NCsoft West territories, we are implementing some structural changes which will impact 70 to 90 employees, detailed the company. We are working with these employees to determine the best fit for approximately 80 alternate positions within the company.

Speculation,
GR will be moved stateside or one of the US Rednames will be passed onto us.
Servers will continue running as normal for the meantime.
At some unspecified date the EU Forums may be cut and the server lists merged.
If the population on the EU servers dwindles then the characters will be offered free transfers and the servers closed.
Otherwise things will continue as normal, IIRC anyway the servers are housed in a data company in Germany and only certain servers were housed in Brighton, best to wait until GR has sobered up tomorrow for news.
However, if we are forced to transfer to the US then they need to start accepting debit cards as I will refuse to pay through PayPal or get a credit card.
