I don't mean middle management, I mean the guys at the top for whom the only interaction from the rest of the company and customers they get is from numbers (Namely the figure in the Profit/Loss column) but still have power over the company.

You mean Directors I think.

I don't understand why ppl are intent on portraying Directors as evil for trying to run a company at a profit. Especially when directors get appointed solely as agents of the shareholders (the owners of the company) to make sure they get a return on their investment (by making a profit). This is especially important in publicly floated companies like NCSoft (I believe in the UK that there are certain legal requirements that directors of public companies act in such a way as to promote the best interest of the shareholders).

Yes, directors get paid alot, a very lot! But their pay is agreed by the shareholders and is so high to encourage the very best directors to take helm of the company (in theory at least), again ensuring a return on their investment.

Companies that do not keep a close eye on their bottom line simply don't stay afloat, its simple as that. And then people are surprised when Woolworth's goes into Administration.

I'm afraid you may have unreal expectations of business.

Which are still not implemented. Besides, if they close down the EU forums they still have the US forums which can be upgraded...sorry, need to be upgraded .

I think the short term loss of closing down any official forums will be easily gained back by the 4 or more FTE that they save from doing so, assuming that the development costs weren't astronomical.

Find it a bit worrying that CoH isnt mentioned though they are both new games. I hope not, but wouldnt GR be under Community team?

Even in the Q3 conference i'm listening (nov 08), CoX is hardly spoken about, neither any word about the brighton cleaning. Even when they talked about 'the new MMO's in the pipeline', the already known GW2 and Soul&Blade were mentioned but very little about CoX itself or a possible 'update'. As CoX was a failure in Korea/asia, i wonder if they even care about it..

More worried, yet i hope this changed by now, was the fact they NC Korea did not spend any money on advertising the game, with only a few minor website thingies few days before beta. They are very supriced and interested in this 'method', with little expend they had a new Korean record. Now i serious dont hope they will 'copy' this idea to US/Europe, we just aint the same as Korea (or asia as whole). So even if they say they will focus NC Brighton as a more commerical part of NCWest, i wonder if they actualy will start mass advertising.

Would it be a good idea for someone with a US account to ask a red-name on the US boards what's going on? There's nothing about it on the board over there at all.. I'm beginning to wonder if the US community know what's going on :/

I find it odd that the press release says that "We are working with these employees to determine the best fit for approximately 80 alternate positions within the company." when PlayNC's website states that only 49 positions are available. Also, according to some sources the staff at Brighton weren't even offered American jobs..
