Quote:Then they don't understand this game's playerbase at all.I'm not going to pull the wings off a butterfly in front of you. But most of the speculation I've seen posted on gaming news sites, is very similar. NCsoft has a track-record of not selling rights to it's discontinued titles. They were also willing to pull the plug on a moderately successful enterprise in hopes of gaining more profits elsewhere.
NCsoft already knows how much money CoH makes and that there are 60k loyal subscribers to the game. They have no intention of selling it (and our valuable email addresses) to a competitor. It would be much more profitable to attempt to convert us into playing their other games.
Now, I'm not saying don't email Valve. If you think it might work go for it. But Valve (or anyone else) can't buy what NCsoft isn't going to sell them. And the fact that they chose to shut down a modest money maker rather than sell it, sort of tells us all they have no intention of giving 60k loyal fans to anyone else.
They want us for themselves, but they want us to play Aion and Guld Wars. :/
But hey if this works, I'll eat crow on this. So have at it!
The people left are the ones who didn't want to go somewhere else, we wanted THIS game. They're just not going to get the people paying to be dynamic superheroes to be interested in their lackluster, grindy fantasy rehashes, -
May I also suggest Turbine as a possible buyer? They've only ever closed one of their MMOs and, to be fair, it was a failure.
They're still running the Asheron's Call servers and still putting out monthly updates for it 13 years down the line. -
Quote:It would have helped if NC had actually pushed CoH instead of forever jumping onto the next big thing. You have to look at the company's overall operating profit and net income (PDF page 4) and compare that to the Sales Breakdown - Sales by Games (PDF page 5).
The company's overall operating profits and net incomes being in the red, it makes sense to dump the IP with the lowest performing game sales. Regardless of how CoH's in-game market was doing, if NCsoft wasn't seeing solid game sales which would add MORE buyers to the market, then the game could be viewed as dead weight bringing down their bottom line (in which case it had to be cut loose).
Ah whatever, I just hope they sell it to someone who cares. -
I posted on your forums, if it keeps CoH alive, count me in.

I have a lifetime sub on LOTRO, which is a game I feel comfortable in, but nothing like this game.
I'm very into TSW, but it's still early days for that world and I don't feel as secure in my future there as I, now ironically, did here and in LOTRO.
This is way worse for me than when Asheron's Call 2 got shut down.
Ugh.
I might go resub to Asheron's Call, my first MMO, since it's still getting monthly updates 13 years after it was released...
I can't believe this. Morgana is absolutely devastated, she's put so much time and imagination into this game, it's such a significant part of her life and now... NC are destroying it.
NC are dead to me unless they sell the IP to someone who actually gives a ****, I'd love for it to go to Turbine, they seem to understand the amount of love that their dedicated players put into the games they make and don't just **** can them because they don't reap supermoney.
I heartily look forward to someone hacking the code and putting up either private servers or hacked offline versions, that would absolutely make my day, especially if we got to see all the work Paragon put into it that hasn't been released yet.
Paragon, you guys rocked, just wish you'd been bought by a publisher that cared. -
This pretty much is my position now too.
One qualifier though;
If they sell the IP to someone who will do something with it, I'll buy NC stuff.
If they just burn the house down, **** 'em. -
Quote:Pretty much this.If I may put in my 2 cents?
I bought 24 of these, and in there I got.
1 full costume set by my 7th, which is cheaper than the normal bundles.
675 merits
11 ATOs
68 enhancement boosters
countless dual inspirations, prestige/ inf / xp boosters
Honestly, I think I got a damn good deal. -
I am posting a pointless post in a pointless thread.

Quote:Why would you need all that instead of adding an open, static, clawed hand art asset on the Weapon slot which replaces the Glove option? You need much more than that. For one, you need open-hand animations for claws, but much more than that you need a system which can alter a power's animation based on the weapon you have chosen. To the best of my knowledge, this functionality simply doesn't exist in this game. And if the argument is to make it happen, then that's really not a job for the art team, but more so for the programmers, and I'd wager it's far more complex and time-consuming than flipping a switch.
I'm sure it's more work than 'just' that, but it would make more sense to do that than have to go into altering animations based on the weapon. -
We already have a natural claws costume piece, it's called Monstrous under the Gloves section.
All we actually need is a "No Weapon" option on Claws. -
Quote:You can already go in reverse. You got Hero-Vigilante-Villain then Villain-Rogue-Hero.I mean keep the existing cycle of Hero to Vigilante/Villain to Rogue and so on, but also have the cycle able go in reverse, where a hero turns into an Anti-Hero--similar to a Rogue--and a villain turns into a Zealot--similar to Vigilante--and have this cycle overlap the current one. Does this make it clearer?

Just need to reply to the mouse thing, if you hold down the two mouse buttons for about 3 - 5 seconds (I haven't timed it) then it switches to autorun.
-
It's not Fables and I really wish it was.
I'll still watch it though. -
All of these reasons are why I've never even bothered trying one. I kinda want to, just to see the content, but they just don't sound like fun.
I've done DfB loads though, great little trial. -
Quote:Ninjar, the headless assassin.OK, this is officially a big problem. When I saw the Think Tank, I knew it was an AMAZING piece of kit and I wanted to have it, but I simply didn't have a good enough idea of what to do with it. Insane Rick was a nice initial concept, but he's just a jarhead gimmick. Give him a regular head and he's a pretty basic, uninspired concept. I've come up with a few ideas of my own, only to open up the Best Costume Designs thread and see that other people came up with pretty much the same idea, only they got to it first. And this leaves me actually quite depressed.
So, please, help me cure my depression. Help me come up with a use for the jarhead that ISN'T something lots of people have thought up before me. A few examples of what people have thought of include:
1. The headless character
2. The Victorian brain in a jar
3. The jarhead robot
I'm not saying any of the above are bad, it's just that... Really, everyone's doing them and frankly, doing them better than I could. I've never been good at character design or concept writing, I've just been good at finding designs and characters others haven't thought of, so even when they're ugly, they sell on their novelty. I just can't come up with anything here.
So, what concepts can you come up that include a jarhead but aren't one of the above three? I'm putting no limits on anything. In fact, the weirder the better. Insane? Sure. Goo alien? Go for it. Lovecraftian horror? Well, if you can sell it well enough. Basically, I just want to find a new use for the jarhead because the obvious uses for it were snatched up by our community pretty much instantly -
I just want to brain dudes with a train crossing sign.

I have this strange feeling that y'all dun got trolled.

Quote:So she was taught it by her captors. You do know I already said that right? I said that she had never been there apart from as a baby.
<Pause while that sinks in>
Now I don't know about you, but I don't remember every detail about when I was born. I don't remember the colour of the room, because you know...I was a baby.... -
Quote:I...And I have a theory that you could make a "Thought Melee" set where your character stands there and does nothing, has no animations, and if it did better AoE damage than any other melee set then some people would declare it awesome.
I want this set...
Actually want access to "No FX" psychic powers, that'd be fun. -
Quote:I like EM.Lets say for example
A top set
B good set
C middle set
D poor set
E very poor set
So lets say SS is A, Elec is B, StJ is C, Kinetic melee is D, and Em is E
I expect Paid sets to be B's.
A's gets into pay to win and C's gets mixed in the Bleh.
Im not expecting an A, but it needs to be a B which it isnt.
My issue was with the numbers which I couldnt see
I also dont expect a refund, but I do choose to excercise my right to complain about what I see as a bad performing set that didnt live up to the cost of it.
BEam was a very solid B, maybe a B+
I don't understand your ranking system. -

Quote:Unfortunately, that's not profitable anymore. They need money to keep the game running and giving away every powerset free to subscribers just doesn't generate enough cash.I got Archery and Sonic for the cost of my subscription back in Issue 5, which was a free issue and not a paid expansion. Paying extra for power sets on top of a subscription is indeed new territory. Awful new territory.
I feel that a paid player should get the whole game for the cost of their subscription (like we used to, accept paid expansions), and don't give me this crap about my 400 "free" points a month. You know what I'm talking about, and being purposely obtuse isn't cute or clever. -
I've bought the points to get it, but... I think I'll actually wait to see if it goes on sale. I figure a day is enough.
