The actual announcement says live server publish so would say 99.9% chance of it being so

If it's I21.5, then I do see that as a problem in launching it this late in the week, and it's a problem in the sense that people will be working overtime. If it's just a regular patch, though, it seems pretty benign.

Well, it's scheduled for 6 hrs. That's generally something big. Plus now as I type they've shut us down for Thursday maintenance. WTH devs? Should I just quit and come back tomorrow or what
I post very very rarely. Normally I'm content to let the rest of you deal with posting. But dammit, these guys are pissing me off an awful lot lately.

OMG! Your telling us they had the unmitigated gall to actually shut down for a regularly scheduled maintenance on top of doing a live publish at the same time!
How dare they do two things at once! You should cancel your subscription in protest.

Smart *** comments are the reason I don't post very often. Let me explain a couple of things, I'm a 60 year old retired man so the opinions of people I think of as children don't really matter a lot to me. I've been here as long as any of you whether I've been posting or not and my opinions and concerns are as valid as anyone here's. If you wish to impress someone with your wit go play with your peers and go mock someone else kid. Oh yeah, save the get off my lawn comments too.
This game is basically my hobby and it upsets me when I can't play. I'm well aware of the maintenence schedule and all of the stated caveats about downtime. It doesn't lessen the impact it has on me and if I wish to vent about it I will.

Its just that your OP didnt really say much except you thought they had learnt from this?
Everybody is of course allowed to moan [i've done my fair share on these boards
] but [myself personally] dont see a problem with the servers being down for a patch since they've now gotten back into the normal stream of thoughts of once a week. The announcement WAS short notice yes, however for a patch its ok [by me as long as its a big patch ].Edit: Also you cant really say that the posts of people you think of as children matter little to you then the next part saying your post is as valid as everybody else, kinda negates the point

I believe that part of the point Gray is trying to convey is that major patches, hardware updates and so forth delivered late in the week have a long history of biting MMOs in the buttocks -- because the folks who can fix bugs are often at home on weekends.
Issue 2 is the reason why major updates in CoH are almost always on Tuesdays.

In addition, being 60 years old, you should know that the world doesn't revolve around your schedule. I would have loved to play this morning, but c'est la vie. As I work in the afternoons and evenings, this day is a wash for me playing. At least you can log in later to play, if you desire.
As long as the devs are working to resolve issues and bring us new content, I'm content. Try exercising a little more patience; the world needs more patient people, not less.
