I swear that I heard Geoff Peterson say "In your pants" at the end of that.

Wow, I'm surprised they pushed that build live. It didn't seem ready for Live servers yet.

I am posting a pointless post in a pointless thread.

I for one, am happy to have trials delayed if it means changes to make them better. Dealing with a barely ready for primetime Keyes and all the ******** and non desire to run it that came with that, was a chore. It doesn't serve their efforts to release trials that aren't fully balanced and something people can enjoy. Trials that are too long and tedious piss people off, and waiting a couple months to see it fixed is not good, because it sets up a ton of preconceived notions that people then have to fight in order to get the inevitable revamps to be looked at with something other than scorn by players.

Delay Media Blitz. Delay Mother Mayhem. Get them right. I'll be happy running Keyes with people who never got a chance to see it and can enjoy it now. I'll get my badges, I'll get drops I can use on shiny new powers, and I'll have a great weekend.

When people only test the things they like, and whatever's new and shiny, this is the result.

Nope it just brought all the bugs from beta to live.

I agree, it's a shame they didn't apply this philosophy to the rest of the patch, because it wasn't ready either.

Also just a note, Mother Mayhem was never intended to go live with the Media Blitz patch.

To be fair to us:

1. Having to ask for TW access and level bumps inhibited testing. I didn't get nearly as much done as I probably could have.

2. I turned in two of the bugs on live. One was the problem with drop-downs/Collection not scaling right on Window Size < 100%, the other was logging in each time to borked UI layouts. I assume both of these were pushed-back to a later publish, but visible bugs like these generate a LOT of noise from players (and rightly so, imo).

If devs want/need testing, it seems to me the testing process needs to be fixed up a bit. Adding some auto-test fixtures for players (level bump, new capabilities like store items (TW)) would allow more people to test. Probably getting the character copy tool working would help also.

In my experience in software engineering, test inhibitors should be priority number one, and imo there are a few player side test inhibitors right now. Test inhibitors that don't get addressed mean that something(s) doesn't get tested.

Edit: Well that was interesting.

Anyways back on subject, this little experiment failed big time and unless the development team likes working weekends, NCSoft/Paragon Studios should stick with patches to live on Tuesdays and weekly server backups and reboots on Thursdays.

It did? Did something crash after I finished playing earlier, because it seemed to be doing just fine.

The point of mid issue releases is about Incarnate content.
My incarnate got 2 new powers crafted today, one of which was thematically really good for him, didnt have that pre the patch. in fact todays patch had several new powers for my incarnates. so about content. It stinks that the trial didn't come too, but if there were reservations about quality, its better it ddint go live was feedback they felt was sufficient to delay it for, then its best it didnt go live. still got my vorpal, and loving it.

I'm referring to what seems to be major problems with this release ranging from the UI reset to continuing problems with weapon based costume changes, alarmist messages about out of date video drivers, knockback not knockback much, glowing costume parts not glowing anymore, base items can now be targeted and attacked and a number of other "oops".

Now yes it would be the same list of problems if they pushed this to live on a Tuesday Vs a Thursday but with Thursday they only have one day to come up with an emergency "fix" for the most grievous of these problem before the weekend instead of three.

Anyone else get the feeling since Freedom that the design team is being overridden as to when updates are released? There is NO way a release this buggy should have got past QA and Devs. I'm beginning to suspect that deadlines are being pushed by marketing or someone else just to keep "new" things coming out...

I pray I'm wrong....
