NCsoft Brighton more trouble?

Well if they end up transfering out data and characters to the US side they will have lost atleast one account anyway... I'm not paying for two US accounts, one US and one EU sure but if we get everything transfered (fingers crossed) along with our vet reward time, I'll just cancel the current US account.
This doesn't look good at all, seems like the UK side of things is going down the toilet...let's face it, the Koren part which actually controls these descisions probably don't really care about CoX, the Devs of the game do but the actually higher ups probably don't, they're too busy pushing GW2 or Aion because it's more like the games they would enjoy if they played MMOs.
Sorry but I've got an Absces under one of my teeth and it's going to cost me £200 to get fixed...on a minimum wage job I can't afford that...so I'm just real angry and bitter right now and this news did not make my day any better...

Well this sucks. I really feel sorry for those who will be losing their jobs. 
As for what will happen to our forums, I must admit to being a bit concerned -- not only because GhostRaptor hasn't posted anything today, but because the community red names over on the US forums have been unusually quiet too.

Well, from that update mumsy posted, seems people aren't gonna get laid off but get new positions in marketing.
Which could be a very good thing to draw more players to the eu servers.
it is odd in every other industry there would have been statements from upon high as to the offical reason for the job loses , and the offical line on what effects this will have ..

We simply don't know. GR has not said a word of it, neither the US rednames, so we just don't know at the moment.

It would be wrong for anyone to announce to the wider world exactly what's happening, without firsts of all having resolved the issue internally.
My guess is that many staff will have been given a chance to assimilate the news, gauge their gut reaction to it and their next likely move and then liaise back. Only once they have done that will an official announce happen.
Sure, we want news, but it's important that those whose livelihoods are at risk be given a chance to react first. Our best reaction is to wait patiently and not to do or say anything too hasty.

Righty-ho. As promised, one phonecall later (I wasn't able to post last night due to not being at my 'puter).
A couple of caveats: I do not know for certain who is and isn't leaving. I have been specifically asked to not "stir things up".
Fact: The vast majority of staff at NC in Brighton have been laid off.
Fact: GR's job no longer exists in Brighton. (This does necessarily not mean that he is leaving NC, but to avoid doing so would require a relocation to the US, and I do not know if such an offer has even been made to him)
Fact: The EU are losing their dedicated QA and Customer Service staff. These roles are being folded into the US.
Fact: Some EU staff have been offered job roles in the US.
Any speculation regarding what this means for the EU servers of CoX is, at the moment, pretty much a waste of time. No one knows enough to say for sure.
I do not believe that we will get much in the way of official notifications over the next couple of days, but we'll have to wait and see.

If GR is indeed gone, I see it inevitable that at the very least, the forums will be merged. It'd just be too much work to maintain 2 separate forums.

You might like referring to strangers on the internet as Big Daddy but leave me out of it please. I've heard there are plenty of sites out there where men would be happy for you to refer to them as big daddy if that's what you really want to do.
GR will very likely appear at some point over the next few days, as there are always administrative things to clear up, so I think we can safely say that while he may not be working in Brighton for much longer, he will be in to do his job and smooth the transition for a little while. I think we can expect to hear from him.
Don't expect him to be able to reveal everything relating to this change. Partly because it's doubtful that he knows everything, but also because he still has to toe the line as far as the company is concerned, and he simply might not want to discuss it. That's his choice.
So, my final thought regarding this - to Ghostraptor and everyone else at NC Brighton affected by this cutback: Best of luck for the future, wherever you end up.
