I never said you did, I was saying the fact you don't want a server merge seems to be out of cliquey kind of thinking rather than what would actually be best... It'd be great if we did actually get merged, it'd solve all the problems of not many people and mean we wouldn't lose our supergroups like we did with a server list merge (nearly everyone would migrate to somewhere not dead given a chance anyway, meaning the only things left and wasted would be supergroups which are actually the one thing that is hardest to build up RE prestige)
-
Carnifax: I was looking at the parallel here of people being pointlessly protective about a closed off virtual world on a computer "nation", when everyone would benefit far more from a larger world and being able to play together, to real nationalism versus people just ignoring emotional tribal boundaries. It's human nature to form cliques and tribes (look at the mass racial/identity politics being used by people like the SNP, BNP, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru..) but it's so much better when people are actually able to rise above reactionary instincts and work together...
Fury: Calm down, silly as that sounds.
-
Yeah, it's interesting how it reflects the small-mindedness of nationalism
-
What's the point of merging the server LIST without merging the actual server? that won't make any more villains play (in fact probably less cos nearly everyone would take advantage of the already implemented thing to move servers), and would still mean you couldn't move supergroups to an active server which is the most important thing since it's the single most thing you can't really ever get back when prestige accumulates so slow and gathers up over years
-
We don't need a server list merge, we need Union and Defiant to be merged into Virtue.
-
Ok, well, you think purple or PVP recipes are hard to get? SG "prestige" base building points takes years to get
if they could do a merge properly, it would be awesome, otherwise too much wasted effort to feel happy about starting afresh
as it is the option is that, or stay in the ghost town. both make a sucky game so no reason to subscribe. -
I just remember it being annoying trying to beat things and sometimes getting some anal badge anorak trying to say everyone on the team should waste another hour or whatever doing something rather than doing it fast because they wouldn't get their banal little pixellated sense of self-worth otherwise...

badgehunters are obsessive compulsive sad acts. My idea of fun is not http://tinyurl.com/warcrap

I already cancelled cos of this. No new people, only a very dwindling amount of people left that aren't farmers or korean goldfarmers with 8 PCs botting... and with no games being sold and no marketing it's only going to get worse, if you play at all the US would be the only real option, and I worked way too hard on my supergroup to restart, so I just play other stuff when I feel like playing a computer game

I feel that what is now left of the EU population is not worth preserving in any way shape or form, so **** it, merge us into a low pop US server, or better still offer us EU> US transfers.
Sadly however i have had 0 faith in this company for a long time regarding their EU plans and i am quite sure they will continue in the usual way.
And they can bring out as many expansion packs as they like, an empty server is an empty server, what on earth is the point of buying an EU version of GR without some reasurance of longevity?
The time of "oh server mergers look bad for games" is well and truely over, so is the old bollox about "well there are still enough subscribers" , subscribers dont fill servers, they are just people stupid enough to pay for a game they no longer play, like me.
Wake and smell the coffee NC. Tell whats left of your loyal customers whats going to happen, silence is not golden, its bollox. -

no, it's a valid point and I think it's about time that ncsoft took notice, this is just the latest thread of many on the subject of why aren't the servers being merged already..
-
let us play on the american ones instead, merge EU characters and SGs onto it
= loads of people, everyone happy. -
you aren't young you're like 30
that's half dead

wow, it's like walking into chavland without an mp3 player to block out the verbal dribbling...

Quote:yeah I stopped playing because of the total lack of consideration shown to UK & EU players by server apartheid despite the facts of tiny amount of players and that the US one has less lag too... the EU ones are a ghosttown in comparison but it would suck too much to start a new supergroup from scratch prestige wise...Not sure if I would be "old player"...
But, no I will not cancel my EU account and start over (even though I sometimes would want to create chars on Virtue). I got too much invested in my chars on Union for me to jump ship...
I do know of a few people from my sg and a few others that have dropped EU and joined the NA servers. (I really dislike the segregation and the continued support of the flawed system of seperate server lists) -

Quote:I have forwarded this thread onto NCsoft support and looking to see if we get any kind of official response on both issues!
I have also asked them this:
I am sure these are goldfarmers, they do not respond to any communication, even when you outright say they are goldfarmers, they stay totally silent on hide mode and are AE farming seemingly 24/7. i am sure if you followed the money/inf trail you would find these large amounts of inf are being transferred to other players in exchange for real-life money. If you want to stop the spam you need to deal with the root of the problem in a pro-active way not just react to individual throwaway spam accounts that cost them practically no money or time to set up.
I have got some for you just in case you are not researching in-game yourselves (it's sad that it's always just an automated reply and then seemingly nothing done in-game - I have been talking to a lot of people about this and it would be nice to know if you were seriously looking at taking action rather than just blocking the throwaway accounts) it's hard to tell- they are definitely still very much around:
Goldfarmer 1 @ St Martial (8 accounts):
@globals censored because of the "naming and shaming" forum rules, names that sound like they were made from an "american name" random generator
Goldfarmer 2 @ St Martial (7 accounts? May have missed one, not sure):
@globals censored because of the "naming and shaming" forum rules, mostly korean/chinese sounding names
I have attached two demo files, one of each operator (I found the program on Paragonwiki.com VERY useful for playing them back http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/...DemoLaunch.htm ) and one screenshot of each operator, but this is by no means all of them, I wouldn't be surprised if there are ones in Grandville still (because of the drops) or other AEs - I know there are similar ones on heroes in Peregrine Island portal corp and AEs.
(I cannot post these or links to them on the forum because of the naming and shaming forum rules sadly, if you want them PM me and I can send you a demo, as well as the global names)

(btw, my tank was 50, I only joined to try get a screenshot of them admitting it, but well, the silence tells it all really :/)
It would be really great if NCsoft actually took action because a lot of people are getting disillusioned about this (I have been talking to a lot of people in-game!), for every polite helpful and friendly GM it seems like there must be a lot of smothering soulless bureaucracy from NCsoft HQ stopping you from actually dealing with problems like this - rather than the more hands-on approach the developers of that other game take to actually deal with problems instead of turning a blind eye and leaving the GMs to clear up the symptoms rather than the disease.
(note, I can tell the difference between some newbie desperate for XP and a goldfarmer don't worry, I am seriously not exaggerating or anything here, they are ALWAYS going in and out of the AE portal in St Martial on Union, they only move one at a time to spend tickets reset the map etc, never respond to any communication even when you say GOLDFARMER they just stay totally silent, and are on total /hide mode. The only way to know they are active is to go to the AE yourself and see them. No SG, no badge title, pretty obviously "throwaway" accounts, oh and lots of black market badges...)Quote:Anyone else spotted them? I saw them post-i16 in AE still though it's possible they haven't figured it out yet
I asked one of them if I could buy inf from them they refused to give a website but eventually gave an email @tom.com, a chinese site, and asked me to send money via PaypalQuote:09-21-2009 19:46:42 [sals badgehunters]Deathsurge: something going on in PI? cos there are 2 instances
09-21-2009 19:46:52 [sals badgehunters]Hopeless-Savage: PI crashed
09-21-2009 19:46:59 [sals badgehunters]Solen: yeah toons got stuck
09-21-2009 19:47:09 [sals badgehunters]Hopeless-Savage: me and sol have 3 stuck there

09-21-2009 19:47:14 [sals badgehunters]deathkitten: probably so many goldfarmers
09-21-2009 19:47:56 [sals badgehunters]deathkitten: i seen them coming out of PI portals quite a few times
09-21-2009 19:48:12 [sals badgehunters]Hopeless-Savage: yeah we were surrounded by fire imps when the mapserver crashed off around us
09-21-2009 19:48:30 [sals badgehunters]hazey: i think the portal got a blockage of imps, until someone brings in the huge plunger we are all doomedQuote:At the goldfarmer problem:
I have spotted alot of them on hero and villain side. Petitioned them all.
They all follow the same pattern:
Same toon name as global name.
No real badges other then AE badges.
They dont respond to tells.
When looking at them move around outside AE, they move one by one. As if they are controlled by the same person/bot.
Almost all of them are Fire/Kin, minus 1 or 2 of them in each group. (might be the one used for attacking?)
Names looking randomly generated.
Costumes looking randomly generated.
coincidence? Don't think so.. Last two days I have petitioned around 25 names.
It's easy to see the diffrence between new players and this.Quote:Gosh do the forums often eat posts? Oh well this will be an abridged more readable version of what I wrote.
Union Hero RMT swearwording obvious.
Not hidden
Level50 Science Controller Gibberish name
Early hours(UK) when I often play 40 ish people not hidden 36 all 50science controller.
Effect on me before i16= removed an origin/archetype choice from game also removed Fire/Kin, functioned like an auto ignore on search.
After i16 my rubbish computer struggles with lots of fire imps, now I actively avoid portal corp. and only tend hop through ouro.
Reported all 36 alt names before i16 as worth checking while not expecting to be told of progress did expect progress.
These chaps are acting with such impunity its embarrassing they don't hide one even has a keystroke guide as his search comment.
Making me sad and a bit crossQuote:Agreed, CoH/CoV does need it's own 'Operation Unholy Rage' ala EVE online.Quote:^ This
It's really, really obvious which people are from 'That Place'
I was hanging around in AE checking my arcs after I16 (make sure they all still work...) and there was a full team of all science trollers, moving one by one and all the normal signs.
I mean, come on, there has to be some way of tracking the buggers down?
NCsoft know about the people doing this, they often even operate in plain sight without any attempts to hide themselves unlike other games - yet they did nothing last time I checked.
I logged on today and I had at least 8 emails from spammers over a couple months, one of which I had reported myself before - I presume other people have reported them but nothing's been done.
(It's important to distinguish the accounts that send spam emails from the goldfarmers themselves though - if the spam emails are to be stopped it's the actual goldfarmers that need to be dealt with as they can easily buy new accounts from NCsoft with the money they get - profit/loss.)
Has the situation changed at all? Has anyone seen it stop anywhere? Because otherwise it just seems like perhaps NCsoft are privately being given a cut of these "real money transactions" in exchange for immunity, which wouldn't be illegal by any means, and make the operation of CoH more like other games in Korea where NCsoft is based - but very dishonest I think to do it this way (it may be that friendly companies that are actually outsourced by NCsoft?), though as we ourselves have no way of finding out without organisations like Trading Standards investigating it is a pretty logical manuever if thinking of just pure profits (which is how NCsoft seem to regard CoH, the Board didn't even mention it in their financial meeting last time that was put on the web as a podcast, it was mostly Aion and the rest things like Lineage etc). -
americans got double XP because of their servers being wonky, but they seem to get better service than us...

We have been talking about this in the issue 16 section seemingly at the same time, I just got linked here - might be worth reading the parallel thread too:
