Hmmm, year on year thats a 10% decrease.
Wish they'd get a move on announcing i13 and what's going to be in it. Game really seems to be treading water at the mo. Even i12 wasn't that amazing content-wise.
Come on NCNC, time to live up to the hype.
Oh, great. Now we're getting our own version of the Eternal September. City of Heroes? It's going to be City of Noobs, with blind invites galore and incessant "hai! I can has Nemesis staff?" over broadcast. Dammned it! And we'd worked so hard to get the riff-raff out.
I also came across this report whilst browsing Edge
im pretty new (since last night) and i would like to point out there a VERY small minority that arent that bad i mean i did have to make some adjustments as it was also my first MMO game as well but after a while i was gettin complimented for my assistance and also got the lead at one point so i would like to ask.... i can has nemesis staff? just kidding but seriously some of us are here to have a good time too and dont intentionally try to ruin the experience for everyone else

Those number make interesting reading but we know that numbers can be "adjusted".
Nothing would please me more then to believe thatthe actual player base was increasing. However what this report shows in the number of concurrent users being logged on at the same time. I don't believe you can use this report to say that subscription numbers are up.

Agreed. 100%. It really is time to let us know what's in store. At least whet our appetites cause I don't know about you but I feel like I'm treading water too. NC may find they're riding their luck a bit if they don't start publicising at least some of the plans they've (presumably) laid out to match the upcoming competition.
They're gonna get drowned in the anticipation of the other two games unless they start fighting their own corner soon.

Yes, the third column shows concurrent users. But the next column shows Monthly Access, which (I assume) means everyone paying for access during that month.

Funny how whenever a Issue comes in numbers go up, no doubt if they showed July when DXP happened, numbers would of gone up again. But how many of these are returning players who will leave at the end of that month? I bet theres more of them than people joining. I STILL CRY DOOM!!!! SORT THE SERVER POPS PLS!! there depressing.
OK shouldn't the server numbers have risen by a further one for the period that the Korean server was running?
Would like to see these broken down by server - even if just to dispel the myth that the US ones are all more heavily populated.

Check the "New Players" section - there's a pretty steady stream of posts there from people just starting the game.

I'd be more concerned that subscription dues on NCSoft games went up, but that they are cutting back development staff in their Austion office personally.

You know what, Gil? this isnt aimed at you but I'm tired of people calling doom whenever I state warning. I am not saying the gameis doomed. I am saying, if they dont get theyre finger out they are gonna get flattened by the DCU express train.
Now the flip side to that is that if they DO get their finger out they will be fine.
Think of mec as a fan of Newcastle United. I'm stauch, dedicated to the cause. But I'm also long suffering and now want to see the game head in the right direction.
The fact I view the game in a realistic, rather than idealistic light doesnt make me a doom sayer.
the express train IS coming and CoH has to get its act together now in order to withstand it.
I want that to happen which I why I get frustrated when I see no indication of movement.
It IS the time to start putting future plans out there. Even if they dont go into specifics.

You have stated your point previously and it is, indeed a valid one. However, if you really thin tha they need to be repeatedly told that something new is coming out so they had beter do something special to counter it... well.
Even then, I don't particularly believe they need to do anything that special, just cary on with what they have planned. The snippets released to us have been exciting enough to keep me more interested in the future development of this game than I am about the others.
Oh, numbers... not so impressive but not totally doooom either. Can't help wondering how many has double accounts though. Only in my SG alone there are several who has that.

A nd the year before and the year before that too. And guess what? Since I started my rants Cryptic went from (i think) 70 odd staff on CoH to 15. So I clearly wasnt on the wrong track was I?
Oh and just under a year ago NC bought Cryptic out and now lo and behold, things are on the up again.
But as someone who has played this game since day one I am not stupid and am concerned that they will be left with their trousers down when DC hits.
In the games first year WoW came out and the game lost about a third of its base. If that kind of hit happens while our subs are still in this range, the game wont survive it.
And the game WILL take a massive hit. the question will be wil the subs be high enough by the time it happens to withstand it.
At this rate the answer is no. And I dont want that. I want the game to be ready.
Sorry to anyone whos offended that I want the game to survive the next 12-18 months.

Lionsbane, I would just like to point out that you come across as someone who is very impatient, wanting everything now. I for one think that we should at least let NCNC show us what they can do before saying they're not doing anything. You may argue that you're not saying that, but that's how it comes across. If you think they are not doing enough to deal with the competition then i'd like to know what the basis for your feelings are: i13 is the first post-JE issue. Let's see what it is before we decry it. And let's give the devs a chance to do it right.

OK, one month's rise does not a trend make, and it's not clear what EU numbers are doing within the overall headcounts, so there's still scope for a bit of "woe is us" speculation if anyone's in the mood.
