  1. Great thread...

    So many memories.

    I guess I've some of the same;

    The Hollows with only run
Dinging 50 and being overjoyed at unlocking the epics
First run into a cyst - was exmp'd down to work of debt (remember that?), the team ran into a cyst and wiped expect me at the back blasting - so I un-exmp'd and battered the cyst without any problems - and the team were amazed (they hadn't seen me unexmp).

The best memory has to be finding the Scoobys SG. Through the SG we've become friends offline that would happily go to the ends of the earth for each other.

    **Edit** oh and Lui...

Guys - what can I say - other then THANKS!!!!!

Your advice was first class - I'm back up and running with full CoH.

The advice given here has been better then the support from NCSoft - you've been faster and treated me like an equal and not a complete PC noob...

    So what was my problem...
    Simple - a virus.
Even though I had AVG and Kaspersky scan my system, and used a Malware programe from here to clean my machine it seem the pesky little buy had done it's work.

As noted the CohHelper could locate my CoH registery entries - eventhough I confirmed they were there.

The soultion - harsh I know - but a total format of the hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 7.

    Problem solved.

To anyone having the same issue (see there are some new threads on the smae subject)
I wouldn't suggest doing this as a first option - but if you've similar issue then you might want to consider this prior to shelling out for a new card.

One thing I would recommend - listen the guys on the board - there good
  3. Well my machine was infected.... 9 viruses in total

All cleaned and another fresh install done.

Still no joy - and still getting the error on the CoH Helper

Think I'll swap out my graphics card for an old on when I can spare a hour or two and see what happens...

Any suggestions for a new card?
  4. Ouch....

Guess if I have to go down that route I'll try scavanging a card from my old PC first - just in case.

  6. Texas, I've been thinking about the same thing - everytime I run the CohHelper it can't locate the registry entry which worries me.

I've found the regisitry using regedit so I know it's there - and according to the CoH Wiki it's in the right place.

I've double checked and I am running both the updater and CohHelp as an admin - still no joy
  7. Anyone know about the registry and where I can find/amend it?

UPDATE - ignore me - deadend....
  8. Last night, after I patched the old files, I got the blue screen of death.

    Nothing since then.

I've ruled out the audio stuff because I've removed everything and still no joy.
  9. I'm on the same desk top I was when playing on the American Servers, so thinking it was something in the last release.

I'm running an install on my laptop now to see what results that has.
  10. One thing I think I should mention - when I run the CohHelper I get an error saying;

    "Error reading registry"
Unable to read your City if Heroes registry information

Then a load of stuff and Vista and running the program as an Admin.
  11. I've got a ticket outstanding with them - raised it yesterday then hit the boards because the support on here can be quicker (esp over the weekends).

    Good idea about the brainstorming.

I had files on my PC from a relese or two ago (was playing USA side). A couple of friends asked my to head on back to Defiant so I reactivated my memebership, patched the files and that's when then problems started.

This morning I did a complete install from disk, and patched from there - again no joy.

I've just swapped Anti-Virus to Kaspersky, and had some problems getting CoH through the firewall - but I can play in safe mode now so guess that's fixed.

I'll take a look at your reports see if there is anything we've got in common - might be a good place to start.
  12. I've updated the drivers for my audio, it's still showing a 2009 driver - can't find anything more recent then that.

Still no joy getting the game to run.

    Fresh spec below:

The game won't load out side of safe mode and all I get is the small "loading" message.

  14. Yeah - just figured that...

reposted - in a thread over there.
  15. I think this is an ATI issue....

    Hi Guys,

I need some tech type help with the game.

Already logged a request from tech support but I know you guys can be quicker.

I've jsut returned to the game, installed the client, fully patched it and update all my drivers, but I can't get the game to run outside of safe mode.

I click the "I Agree" button - get the "Loading" message and then it hangs there. Nothing else happens.

    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?

  17. Now this is odd.

Less the 24hrs after I post a comment asking for the cloak & dagger act to be dropped we get yet another post full of cloak & dagger stuff.

WHATS WRONG WITH COMING OUT AND TELLING US WHAT YOU'VE GOT PLANNED???

Very little of that post is new info. I'm sure we all know the MA is full of "under the hood" stuff, and yes we understand that its a big job, so it would fill a whole issue in it's self - but why oh why say "and some other stuff".

I'm left with the impression that the "stuff" is of so little value that the devs are imbarrassed by it, and it shames them.

At last I have a chance to overtake B's badge total!

It will be a shame to see you guys go, it's been a blast teaming with you and listening to the terrible jokes on TS. I remember the first time I joined a Scoobys team, running badging missions on a Valentines event. I hope I can team with you again somewhere

Good luck wherever you end up.

    Suz.

PS. I'm gonna need a new global friends list now, it's 95% Scoobys

    [/ QUOTE ]

We're sorry to be leaving you and your many many alts behind Suz. You've always been a fine addition to our teams.

Server populations have been trending upwards since Issue 13 release. There are no current plans for any server mergers and we're looking forward to Issue 14 and the rest of the year.

    Just make that your sig

And for those taking a break - see you in an Issue or two

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry GG - we're not likely to come back, unless there are some major change to the game as T said in his opening post.

I know - so see you in an Issue or two

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Somehow I doubt it.

Unless someone (looks for a developer NOT a forumrite) would like to come out in the open and drop the cloak & dagger stuff for once and just tell us what the plans are - PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

    Personally - this is just one of the reason I'm off. Since issue 6 I've put up with people telling me the same stuff over and over again. I am fed up with "hints" and "maybes". I'm not looking for details, nor timelines, more of;
"this is what we're working on now"
"this is what we want to develop"
"we expect to have this around <insert date>".

This would enable the players to feedback with comments & suggestions, i.e.
"don't waste your time - that feature wouldn't be used"
"maybe you should do it X way"
    etc.

I might go into more detail in my own post nearer the time.

Oh and GR - thanks for leaving this thread open - you'll have to forgive T, he loved this game, and for him (and the others, myself included) the current state of the game is like watching a dog that you've had since a puppy getting ready for that last walk - You know the time has come to say goodbye, but you can't seem to do it, you know it's for the best, but that doesn't help. In the end you have do it. You make the call, and say your goodbyes, and close the door.

Has hell frozen over? Will all the people that said they would leave if this happened leave? There is room on the coat rack guys please shut the door on the way out

    [/ QUOTE ]

IF it happens, and IF I lose my character names, I'll stand by what I said I'd do.

Please don't turn this into a "Merge teh servers!" thread, folks, that's not what it's here for. I just want to work out what's going on!

    [/ QUOTE ]

nice try - I tried that once too.

It does seem that this has been dragging on for a number of months now.

    Banks? Or NCSoft dragging heels?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would a bank drag it's heels to take money off someone?
  23. From what sites I've seen - memberships that offer a "non-recurring" option tent to be more expensive.

Not sure why... must just be a ploy to take the renewing option.

I'd support this idea if the price were the same. If it were more expensive then I think I'd like to know why.
  24. A fair point.

However if all the forums are going to be overhauled in the near future (i.e. move to a new platform) then there was be less effort involved.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
We also have duplication of effort. Such as the Announcements, patch notes etc. This work could be reduced with a merging of the forums into one CoX forum, instead of the two seperate ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The effort is not in the posting of patch notes on two forums (fora?) but rather the translation and localisation. Unless all support for the French and German communities is dropped completely then the same amount of work would still go into it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I might be missing something here, but how can posting in 1 english fourm and 2 others be the same as posting in 2 english and 2 others?

Okay - might not be alot more - but it's duplicated effort.
