Considering the economical crisis world is in, it seems to me NCsoft is trying to limit their sources in less profitable areas. Ending of Tabula Rasa, now this.
Whatever the reason is, this one is really concerning news indeed, especially for us EU CoX players.
We will wait and see what happens...
It makes sense that they get more people for the Lineage II EU division as that game is currently growing on the EU. It is however not good news for the EU community for our game.

I do hope this isn't another step in the direction of a EU/US forum merger.....
It seems fairly clear to me that CoH EU is no longer pulling in enough money to justify 2 full time forum mods, so they've re-tasked one of them to a more profitable game to justify his wages; which is good for Palladium, as it means his job doesn't vanish, but it's not exactly a good sign for us, is it?
I've decried the doom mongerers in the past, and I flatly refuse to take up their banner now, but with the German and now the French player community members being effectively abandoned, it's getting harder to deny that a merger is on the cards...

Indeed, maybe not a full merger but separate forums under one site ( US forum, UK forum, EU forum, etc etc). with its own dedicated community reps.

When even the staunchest of the non-merger defenders are getting worried, you know it's time to start worring.
Personally I'm waiting on the official word from GR.
If this really is the begining of the end for CoX EU (I doubt it but it is worrying) I'd rather they just offered us all transfers to the US side (passport badge please!) of things instead of merging the servers (fingers crossed I get to keep my namesake...though I doubt it) since merging servers would probably just delay the inevitable a tad.
Anyway...lets wait to hear the news from GR himself before we all start jumping to conclusions.

Ok I appologise for the server comments etc, but I have made my intentions clear regarding the game in my other thread. It is a shame that the game seems to be in decline ( I used the nice words of seems to be), and it seems that things may start to happen even if in my own opinion it is too late and things should have started maybe 6 months ago.
Well, I find it moderately interesting that GR's job title has changed this year.

It's far more accurate to say that Palladium is the most knowledgable person over here when it comes to L2, and when the position came available he snapped it up. It's a fantastic opportunity for him and it really shouldn't be read as an abandonment of the FR community at all.
The new year is looking very good for CoH. We've seen an upswing in server populations, and the Mac launch has gone very smoothly.

It's never been about doomongering or banner waving. it's always been about being realistic.
I really wish you would understand that.
There is nothing wrong with them restructuring provided it results in a better experience overall. Heck, even Tescos do it, dropping one store here, building another there.
Sorry to sound all knowing but, given this is the internet without any global boundaries, putting a eu division in the first place was always going to be a financial drain. And was going to create logistical and information issue. Look how we tend to know things last as a simple example of that.
Even the German and French divisions could have been handled in the good ol US of A from day one.
Less out bound cost. Offices etc.

OK going to throw something in here, I dont want to turn your thread into a "ZOMG SERVER MERGERS!!!" but there is a way round loosing data and that's migrating all the data to the US data servers, that way we keep are own servers and gain the added benefit of playing on the US servers.

So does that mean that the French players are going to be getting a replacement mod? Will the Germans eventually get Kerensky replaced after that stupid 6 month regulation is up?

Hmm sadly a sign of the times, consolidation and rationalisation are the current gods, tbh its not nescessarily related to game populations at all in this instance just a corporate adjustment to outside pressures.

Not strictly true...for example any events we get to see many hours earlier on live than our US counterparts we also tend to recieve information in our mornings which means for a while the US players were coming to the EU to find out knowledge first with regards Issue announcements.
Still it's nice to know that the servers are actually busier than before according to GR and that it was Palladiums choice rather than being forced to go elsewhere.

AFAIK and according to Palladium's last official announcement, replacement mod is not an option for NC Management at the moment. We were told that GR is not a CC anymore, but a FC (Franchise Coordinator) for the EU community.
NC Europe staff will keep on providing us Patch notes and Official Announcements in french but we are no longer expecting moderation... 
We created teams to translate news from the US Dev Digest, UK-US most important posts (or gossips 
) and translate/post french suggestions (we want to be heard ).

That does not mean, however, that I'm the only EU employee working on CoH. We still have a full cross section of support staff including QA and Production.

Just what on Earth is going on with EU CoH? It seems that French players have now been abandoned just like the Germans were. I don't know about anyone else, but this concerns me greatly...
