Respect For Other Players In RV - Or Lack Of It

Ok, now, yes I know that Recluses Victory is a Player vs Player zone

[/ QUOTE ]

Then where's the problem? You want to get extra xp in a danger zone without any danger? Are you in fact RTD?

[ QUOTE ]
Oh, definately, but I can't think of a suitable replacement analogy for the OP.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's like trying to get free honey from a bee hive and then complaining when you get stung.

Yes you have the right to kill players ( so save your suggestion that I petition you for some one stupider than me ), but if you choose to exercise that right on players who want to enjoy RV for other reasons you are on morally indefencible ground. You are taking enjoyment at the expense of the enjoyment of other players.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have you considered that by requesting that the people who play PvP don't attack you, you're taking your enjoyment at their expense? They take enjoyment in attacking other players and testing their mettle, and you want them to forego a chance of that enjoyment simple because it doesn't suit you.

Well, the PvP zones are the PvPers sandbox. If you want to play there, you should show them the respect of accepting their rules and way of playing gracefully.

The only bad experience I've had is someone complaining just because I was using particular powers. Makes me wonder why some people bother playing in PvP.

Some friendly tips for the OP to avoid pvp as much as possible:

Pick up some stealth powers, either through the pool powers or temps.
Get telport and TP foe and use them to get yourself out of trouble.
Play at unsociable hours to lower the risk of pvp.
Get a team of like-minded people and be prepared to protect each other if pvpers turn up.
If stalkers are causing you greif get a +perception power like tactics.

Please note that i'm not trying to be patronising, just constructive. Please ignore my advice if you already know all this.

I was in there on sunday for the RV event. When someone asked me "is this an XP team" I thought "[censored]!".

Grinding for XP in RV is boring and i personally think there is something wrong with someone that would pay for a game then decide they want to skip arguably some of the best content for it in the 40-50lvl range.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, some of us on the villain side of things did something so incomprehensibly stupid as not choosing a Rad or Kin Corruptor or a Stone Brute as our main character when we started playing, and are now just interested in leveling our Shivan Life Support Systems up to 50 as fast as possible, since we've abandoned all hope of ever getting any of the LRSF badges on our mains and are now just looking to mule some Hero-O's for them.

Your argument is moot, the zone is a PvP zone as you recognised in your first paragraph, and you get numerous warnings when entering PvP zones that others can and will attack or kill you. It's not "morally indefensible" if they attack you despite your protests, if anything you are the one in the wrong for expecting them not to. It is entirely up to the other party whether or not they choose to leave you alone, and if they don't you just have to live with it, because that is what the PvP zones were created for. Feel free to petition them if you like but whichever GM answers you will simply repeat what has been said here.

Well what can I say. It was certainly an ill advised posting. Little did I understand the complete lack of tollerance for the way other people, who pay as much to play this game as everyone else, may like to enjoy the game. I will indeed steer clear of RV as you all so eloquently suggest. Thats one less person for you harrass over and over again I guess. Chalk it up as a victory for the 'how dare they play in my zone without my permission' brigade. Looks like there will be many more.

Signing off, with tail between legs

Now read back your own words and apply that same situation to what you're demanding here. More than a little ironic.

Before you go off on a rant about being harassed by other players who are simply there to indulge in the zone's purpose. Again, I'll repeat, if anyone is in the wrong in the scenario you described - it is you. It's the other player's choice whether they wish to disrupt their own play experience in a player vs. player zone to leave someone who outright refuses to accept the zone's purpose alone, if they choose not to do so that is their prerogative, and here you are ranting about tolerance for the way others choose to play the game.

Amellie, sometimes when everyone else says "you're wrong" its not because they're intolerant, or can't see your point of view, or want to spoil your fun.

Sometimes, it's because you're actually wrong...

Actually it's more like the "how dare they tell me I need permission to play the game my way in a zone made for that type of gameplay" brigade. You're more in the "how dare they kill me without my permission" brigade area.

Big shock why most people are siding with the first camp over the latter.

Actually, I'd say you're the one that's showing limited tolerance here, as you expect other people to adhere to your preferences, even inside zones that are explicitly made for a different set of preferences entirely.

Don't you think it'll be rather annoying for the PvPers to pretty much have to stop and ask permission before they attack someone, in a zone made for player combat?

If you only want to go hiking and enjoy the nature, stay out of the paintball area. Otherwise you'll just annoy yourself and the people who're there to play paintball.

Actually, several of the people who've answered you here, myself included, are people who don't play much PvP, but prefer PvE, so your argument doesn't really hold.

That, and I happened to chance upon a Corrupter at around 4AM this morning in Warburg, before we exchanged looks pending a possible battle; and they sent me a tell saying they were just killing boredom and wouldn't interfere with my scientist escort. That same villain and I teamed up to do the Toothbreaker Pocket D mission I still had active not fifteen minutes later. Don't let on though, wouldn't want the claim that anyone decrying Amellie's comment isn't infact an immature 14yr old, and completely incapable of playing under a truce with the opposing faction at the mutal agreement of both parties. Far from it, we're all "script kiddies" and type in l33t speak if we enter a PvP zone to PvP. We're also completely incapable of respecting each other's wishes.

Have you tried going in to the minefield and shouting out that you're only there for the potatoes? Some mines might leave you alone...

I wanted to sig that, but I've run out of characters .

I DEMAND A DATAMINE!

Really the analogy to use would be a person sitting in their front room relaxing, when you arrive and start using their white leather couch as a toilet...Because you must be right, a couch must also be a toilet why else would it be so comfy.

I find it odd that you demand people respect your "rights" when you then call into the question the very character of those you appeal to.

I pvp a lot, and I like to think I am a considerate player....Certainly I have not started demanding people play the game "my way" or questioning their character.

Remember that by taking control of the turrets you are taking part in a pvp game, you are also making it harder for others to take those turrets (neutral turrets are easier to take than enemy turrets).

IF you dont want the reward, dont take the risk.

Respect for other players in RV? Respect? You gotta be joking me! This is so unfair!

Animal Mutha demand a respect too. So he can change his powers and stuff.

The smoking analagy is also ridiculous. Comparing something which kills in real life to something which irritates you in a game is an extremely bad way to illustrate a point.

But then it was an extremely bad point to begin with.

If you don't like PvP, don't go in the zones. If you want the rewards, accept the risks. It really is that simple.

[/ QUOTE ]

Has the same point though. If you don't like smokers, don't go into a restuarant that allows smoking. If you don't want to PvP, stay the heck out of the PvP zones. Simple.

So do people who PvP. And we hate when people come into PvP zones and complain when *shock* PvP takes place!

Back on topic, I am a big badger! erm that is my main hero has lots and lots of badges, I had to go into PvP zones for quite a few of them and the only time I ever got annoyed was when this one stalker, well he stalked me exclusively, even though there were other (admittedly harder) targets in the zone. Any other time I shrug it off and carry on, maybe come back later, or if I am on my corruptor occasionally scare people in Warburg by stealing all their end

I also think that calling people that attack you in a PvP zone immoral and implying that they are stupid is a bit much.

Alot too much.

If you said that to me after I'd killed you in a PvP zone, it'd only make me want to kill you more.
