the interesting thing to me is that it seems to show that you can select the powers during creation, meaning that those of us who dont get into closed beta can still futz around with it, i appreciate that because my work schedual makes the time commitment required by beta testing unfeaseable and as such would not make a good beta tester. but now i will be able to at least try it out when it hits cb in a limited capacity.

Typically, the lock-out for non-beta accounts doesn't happen until you actually try to log a character onto the server. This means that the character creation process - and whatever new goodies may be part of it - is usually open for anybody to fool around with. While it's possible that even character creation could be locked this time around, if it isn't, then non-beta participants should be able to experience being able to change colors and animations for powers.

There is no need or point in making off-color remarks about off-color customization. Off color customization, remarkably, has not been discussed despite being [DELETED], which is not to say that it is exploitable.
Clouded, I don't think that its your post-lunch condition that makes this conversation hard to deal with, let alone to follow. Off-color customization is much harder to define that color customization, which is readily apparent. Just in case though, try it "Post-breakfast" instead, Raisen Bran being almost a metaphor for what I'm talking about. The farmers out there know what I'm talking about, which means [DELETED]. Not sure where the devs stand on this, though, atm.

Wow. So you actually DID pull out random animations here and there, do all the greyscale stuff needed, and just do this piecemeal over the long term. I think I outright suggested it a year ago, but I never imagined you'd actually do that. That's a crazy amount of dedication.
What I really love about this dev team is they go the extra mile just to make as many people as happy as power. Lazier developers wouldn't have bothered with both "light" and "dark" versions, no matter how lame it would be not to be able to throw solid black balls of flame at people. I sound like a total sycophant here, but this is astounding when you have some idea of how much effort all this took.

If you're not in Closed Beta, you can still futz around with the Character Creator.

Curiously just wondering how much extra work it would take to be able to select the projectile type as well as the colour of a power?
Would love to be able to select Proton Volley style (the three round balls of energy) projectiles for an energy blaster, colour them pink and go all Danmaku on the enemies.
