Customization, power set proliferation, custom difficulty levels, revamped character creator... drink deep of its awesomeness!

No "content" so far, if you want to be a negative nelly...

Still no energy melee for scrappers...

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Still don't get the seemingly huge draw for colorizing *shrug*

Only thing interesting to me is Elec melee for Scrappers. Elec armor is pretty meh to me as it is. Maybe also Cold debuffage for a troller......

DC reminded me about the diff slider....that's nice, but jesus took long enough. Depending on how long before this hits, could do a weekly 8-man team group from 1 to 50 in 8 weeks.

Really hoping for a huge carrot to be announced later. :S

There's no content in there. Where's the 10-15 Strike Force, aptly named "Positron's Revenge?"

They throw in some SFs to fill the level range void and this will be the best issue so far. While I couldn't care less about power customization (oh huzzah, pink ice shields), I do like that they've made more animations for MA and even Granite'll get a little love.

For the powerset proliferation, that's a ton of new sets. First thought that went through my head was rad blasters and scraps with Lightening Rod. Elec Armor may be quite good for Tanks... several end recov. helping powers along with probably near the resis. cap in several areas... the no dull pain bit would be interesting, but we'll see.

I'm really curious about this revamped custom difficulty bit. It's going to help the farmers out a ton, I think. Offhand, I wouldn't have a clue about how many casual players will want to push themselves like some folks around the boards. I can see this being a bit problematic for PuGs as well. But, should help the soloers who want to get a bit more of a challenge. Hopefully there's some limits to what you can do. No +5 or +6 baddies please.

Should be good, and we must be getting closer to get the details now.

Wow, I might try a blaster for once with rad blast!

I've only been playing since issue 6, and this, IMO, is the best one I've seen.

I think it's all great -- how many years did they continue to tell everyone that power customization (colors) just wasn't feasible due to programming and code considerations, but they've found a way to overcome them (whatever they were), and give many vocal players what they were screaming for for years. Very nice.

More power proliferation is a nice thing (and don't hold your breath for EM on Scrappers, that would just be ridiculous ), lots of new options there.

As far as the new actual "content", I'm sure they'll do something. I think they REALLY need to get off the dime and throw red-side a few bones soon with some SFs or other comparable content to get them closer to being on par with blue-side (that will take a bit of effort). Also, some love for the PvPers would be nice too -- we'll see.

Overall, though, with this and then (hopefully soonish) more Going Rogue details, there's some pretty neat stuff happening!

I think the way they overcame the issues associated with PC was by tripling their staff. When you're running a game with 16 people, there's no time for stuff like that.

While I am disappointed that Mercenaries can't be color customed, I am intrigued by Broadsword Stalkers. Big props for the Martial Arts changes too.

Pretty happy over this info. I can tweak a bunch of my characters to fit their concept better.

Enhanced Difficulty Options - Players can now fine-tune their difficulty levels by telling the game exactly how they want to be treated. They can choose to be regarded as a specific size team (even if they are soloing), and even have control over the level they are detected to be when it comes to the dynamic spawn system. So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can! The difficulty settings of the mission owner dictate how the mission is handled, just as before, and you can change your difficulty settings at any Hero Corp.'s Representative in Paragon City or Fateweaver in the Rogue Isles.

Demons spawned for 8, no waiting. Huzzah! My WS never needs to speak to another human being again.

This will be the big draw for me, I think.

Victory: @Brimstone Bruce
Brimstone Bruce (lvl50 Stone/Fire Tanker) Broadside Bruce (lvl50 Shield/WM Tanker)
Ultionis (lvl50 Dark/Dark Defender) Cortex Crusher (lvl50 Mind/Kin Controller)
Patronox (lvl50 Kat/Dark Scrapper) Harbinger Mk.7 (lvl50 Bots/FF MM)
NightShift for Life.

Power Customization - This is cool and I'd never say it was a bad thing, but I've never been so conceptually hamstrung that I couldn't make it work within the current limits. Of course, I usually work within those limits to begin with, rather than creating something divorced from the game and porting it in.

Powerset Proliferation - There are some neat things being moved around, but also some lame ones. I could see myself giving Brutes another go with Claws (for the extra end efficiency) and making a Plant/Cold Controller (both sets look interesting, but I could never find a paring with them I was satisfied with).

Difficulty Changes - This is a huge win for me. My IOed characters have grown out of the default difficulty ages ago. Now I'll be able to customize the difficulty to something more suitable to each character. My /Fire Melee Tanker is going love making large spawns to saturate his AoEs.

Now, they did say more features to be revealed later, so who knows what else is still left. New content perhaps? (Though that may all be going into GR... hmm...)

Absolutely -- I think that a lot of these neat new things we're seeing are due to the infusion of cash from the Boosters and other micro transactions, and also, undoubtedly, due to perceived competition with Champions Online and DCU Online. Programming issues that are insurmountable with a staff of 16 are a lot easier to overcome when you have twice that and more.

I really really really need to find time to play again now. Issue 16 looks AWESOME.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

It's not that it wasn't feasible, it's that it was extraordinarily time-consuming. Consider that until NCSoft bought the IP out from Cryptic that they were down to 15 people actually working on the game, they just didn't have the resources to put in new content AND recode the database to allow this type of customization at the same time.

Now that they've been on a hiring spree, they have the resources. A few posts from Castle have indicated that they aren't done yet, and it has been insanely time-consuming to do this (as they predicted).

I'm glad the option is almost here though.

I've never understood this obsession with coloring powers.

I still want to see additional artwork (new maps) to old missions.

Since we threw out powersets that work conceptually with certain ATs awhile back, I guess it was just a matter of time before a sneaky stalker got a huge clanking broadsword.

I think it depends on how much of a "role playing" (I'm using the term in an extremely broad way) approach one takes with their toon(s). To the people that do (in some measure), this is a pretty neat development. Those who don't really care much about stuff like that, of course, aren't really excited about it, understandably.

All I can say is, it didn't cause me to quit the game in over 4 years of playing, but it also gives me the chance to tinker with some costumes and make stuff "match" the character's concept a bit more closely. Is it the best thing to come along since sliced bread? Nah, but it IS kinda cool to some extent. Any excuse to play with my dolls...er, ACTION FIGURES!!!!

EATs' and VEATs' powersets don't seem to be included on that list of customizable powers... If they can work those in there somehow, I'll be happy... I want a more notable blue color for my PB, dagnabbit!(as opposed to the current white-blue, which is "meh")

I know it's a trivial thing, but I am easy to please I guess.

Also, not related to i16, but I would like to dedicate this song to Desdemona.
