I thought CoX was a Teen rated game?!?!?!

I thought CoX was rated Teen. The devs go out of there way to gen names and costumes that are inappropriate for the Teen rating. Nothing with a sexual nature or undertone is allowed due to the rating. Rightfully so though. Which is cool an all but what confuses me is now with booster pack 3. They are introducing cross dressing. It potentially opening up a huge can of worms. Now if you changed gender and it applied to all character slots then this would even have come up. but since you can have say 3 slots male and 2 female. Say what ya want but that is cross dressing and i would think that this would violate the Teen rating. Maybe im wrong but i was just wondering. Idk what kinda recourse would happen if a game violated the game ranking but i rather not find out. I enjoy this game very much. its not perfect but its still a great game. Though i think the cross dress is going a bit far. Maybe change it so that when you gender bend it applies to all character slots not just 1 costume slot. Is it possible if we can get some kind of Dev clarification on this issue plz?

I think as far as rating goes, cross-dressing falls under suggestive themes for media rated T-MA (well, X if you wanna be technical).

If these transgender characters start mature roleplaying in local or general, report em. This however, is NOT dependent on the sexuality, or sex of a player character. Switching genders or bodytypes is not inherrently sexually related in that sense. Therefore, there is nothing about switching gender that is covered in your definition of "mature"

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

It's not crossdressing. Female costume options are not being ported to males, nor vice versa.

IBTD.

[/ QUOTE ]

But it is cross dressing. When ppl do drag they do there clothes and makeup to match. most men that cross dress actually look like females. They dont look like hairy men in a women's dress. Take the muary show, on numerous times they have brought ppl on the show that do drag and most the ppl in the audaince cant tell if they are really a male or female. Same thing you have here.

Besides, if they start banning transgendered concept characters, RL rights movements might sue.

Final Fight had a gender bent character, yet still had a T-rating.

Dressing in clothing of the "opposite sex" is not "mature". Little kids do it all the time.

And a dude wearing a skirt has nothing to do with sex, just ask the Scots.

And a girl wearing... I dunno, lumberjack clothes? Definitely has nothing to do with sexual themes.

I'd make more sense for you to say that all the miniskirts should be removed from the game.

Give that you are a kid judging by your response you may not. But parents that pay for you to play just might.

[/ QUOTE ] I see where you are coming from but i also see the other side of the argument too. Why i asked if a dev could maybe post and clarify a little so theres no confusion. Not just for the players but for the parents as well. I could see parents having a issue with kids playing a game that allow cross dressing. Thats why its important to be very clear on the matter and know where the line is drawn

Actually it's gender swapping, not cross dressing.

As much as I hate Troping to prove a point, it does apply in this case:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GenderBender

Some examples of Gender Swapping cited in the link include an episode of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" where the main character and her friends drink a potion to become temporarily male (just like with the costume change emote in CoX!). This was a show targeted to "Tweenage" girls (a "tween" is between the ages of 10 to 12). So obviously the "T" rating is perfectly safe.

Sorry dude. This is a Teen rating, even if a male character makes a female costume. >_> Which I won't be doing.

But what if somebody wants a male and female character of the same AT and powerset? Won't it just be easier to make a female/male costume? They could play like two seperate characters.

Anyway, your argument is invalid. Good day.

Your basic premise is that people wearing clothes of the opposite sex is inherently "mature" and related to "sexual themes" (as in related somehow to intercourse or adult relationships).

It is not. I wore a dress while pledging in a fraternity, and trust me, it was the least sexy thing ever seen. It also had nothing to do with "mature" themes or intercourse.

Adults wearing the clothing of the opposite sex is not inherently sexual. It's not the action, it's the CONTEXT.

Your basic premise is false and inherently flawed.

So ppl that do drag arnt cross dressing either??? You missed the Muary show example. just cause you are a male dont mean you can look very much like a female.

This is why i suggested if you allow to gender bend it would apply to all character slots not just the ones you choose. Thous making this whole argument or debate invalid.

This is true. For Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis it was pure comedy:

As it was for Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari in Bosom Buddies
http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/i...08/bosom_l.jpg

And who could forget Eric Idle and Robbie Coltraine in Nuns on the Run (no matter how much they try)?

Clearly cross-dressing itself is not considered "mature". Even if it was in the game. Which it isn't.

you wearing a dress but looking like a man during a hazing period is one thing. Sosiety as awhole would just laught and go on but when you actualy look like the opposite sex in the case of drag. that is a very mature thing and is hight look down appond in the general public eye.

[/ QUOTE ] You do realize the scot thing was a joke, right? Sorry, but its not crossdressing, they are actualy changing gender, and while it could be used as so, theres nothing technicaly sexual about that at all, so the thread is pretty much pointless.
