What can you do on level 50?
First off, don't come at this game like you might have come at WoW. This game is NOT about the end game, but about the all-game. There is content to enjoy from level 1 to level 50.
That said, at level 50, you can do Hami Raids, high-level Task Forces, PvP, or, through using Ouroborus, go back and do any content that you may have missed on the way up, with few exceptions. You can also use the mission architect system to go through player-created content.

1. You can finish your existing contacts (if any).
2. There are repeating mission contacts in Cimeroa and RWZ and for heroes only in the Shadow Shard.
3. You can do anything in Ouroboros you like though once you have done it all it would all be a repeat and not new.
4. Trials, Task forces and Strike forces.
5. Street sweep in the high level zones.
6. Earn missing badges.
7. Run radio/paper missions and safeguard/mayhem missions.
8. PvP
9. Rikti mothership raid
10. Hamidon
11. roll up a new character
12. Mission Architecht
13. Ask for more level 45-50 new content
14. Wait for Going Rogue
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
I'll add Rikti Ship Raids, and purpling-out your hero or villain.
Playing with friends, helping out new players, also keeps my 50s active.

"Pretty much the same stuff you did from level 1 on."
There's nothing wrong with being goal-oriented, but this isn't a game where you suffer until max level and then "really start playing."
Some of the "pretty much the same thing" is quite literal- you can go to Ouroboros and time-travel back to do the missions you didn't get through on your first trip. You can go do task forces at any level. You can start alternate characters and run through to level 50 again. (I've done it twice villainside and about six times heroside. )
There are a few things that are "50 only" or nearly-so. Three or so Task Forces [or Strike forces villainside], two big (and infrequent) raids.
You can take your level 50 and put a lot of time and influence into tuning them up into a crazy death machine, and set up your own ridiculously hard challenges.
You can start a supergroup and be social, and work on your base. Interior Decoration is something a lot of my friends have a lot of fun with.
You can PVP (at any level, really, I suppose.)
For me, the answer is usually "Get together with my friends and shred through content in a hurry." But different people like to do different things.

These two seem to be the most popular.

My first toon finally hit 50, and I'm having even more fun with the game than when i started. The content at lvl50 is still pretty difficult, and the TFs are always a challenge. There are still plenty of times when mishes and TFs fall apart with all lvl50 toons because it's too challenging. I'm finding that it takes a while to get to the point where you can build a toon that can do so much mega-destruction solo on a lvl50 mish set at invinvible that it's actually boring; and the TFs are near impossible solo even if you find people to help you start it.
To get the highest level enhancements, it takes thousands of kills at lvl50 or a cool 100mil inf per enh. And have you even tried PvP? I haven't even gotten there yet.
I've started working on getting some of the accolades for my toon, and that's fun. I'm also a big prestige earner for my burgeoning sg. Sometimes I join a lvl2 crew and exmp through the sewers with them to earn prestige.
The best part about being a 50 is that you stop being fixated on the "getting xp" thing and you just play the game for fun. There are so many options in the game through enhancements and respecs that you never get bored. Even on my lower toons, it doesn't hurt so bad when I incur debt.
In addition to all that, you can take the cool 10 mil you earned running a single TF and hold a costume contest at Atlas.
Triumph Lurker: mintmiki 50 emp/archer
basically, if you see a miki on Triumph, it's probably cute and it's probably me.
Huge thanks to cuppamanga and all the folks in the mac help forum for prolonging my borrowed time on this game.
My main hero is the same guy I rolled in the 2004 headstart. Always has been. There is plenty to do at 50.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

What is there to do when you hit the maximum level?

With very few exceptions, everything you could do on the way to 50 is still available for you to do at level 50. For some activities, like the Safeguard missions, you would need the assistance of someone in the correct level range. Practically everything else is accessible to both people in the correct range, and people OVER the 'correct range'.
In addition, there are various activities where being level 50 is preferable. Some of the high level task forces and raids are easier if you're 50, than if you're 48 or 49. Plus there are activities like collecting badges where your level isn't too major a factor.

is there enough to do when you hit the maximum level, and does it keep fun? just your opinions please.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there are two divergent paths here. Some people like to continue playing their level 50 character. In fact, I know people who have ONLY ONE CHARACTER (well, really two - one hero and one villain). On the other hand, many people 'retire' their character once they hit 50 and start a new one. The different AT's (classes) are *SO* different that it's like a different game when you level up a different character.
Even within an AT, things can be different. Someone had a wonderful quote in their sig: Playing two different kinds of scrapper is like the difference between playing tennis and playing raquetball. Playing two different kinds of defender is like the difference between playing hockey and playing piano.
I see both sides of it. On the one hand, my first character to hit 50 is still the character I play the most. In fact, I probably play that character more than all my others combined. On the other hand, I have 8 characters at level 50 so far.
So, while "fun" is completely subjective, yes, it stays fun for me.

The only thing that you can only do with a level 50 is slot purple enhancements. Everything else that a level 50 can do could also be done by a level 49. Hitting level 50 unlocks the epic archetypes. Other than that, there is no content unlocked by hitting 50.

Other than earn XP to get another level... I got nothin'.

Level 50 doesn't unlock fun. Level 50 will be about as much fun as levels 1 through 49.
Unlike some other games for which the level progression is the means to unlock a different game, in CoH racing to 50 is like trying to race to the end of your vacation.

I just hit my 3rd 50 this weekend. I now have a level 50 BS/SR scrapper, a level 50 emp/ele 'fender, and a level 50 Psi/fire blaster.
It's been over a year since I hit my first 50.
She's still one of my favorites to play.
To me, the game is just as much fun at 50 as it was earlier. In fact, from about 42 on, I find it more fun than a lot of the strive to 42.

So for me, 42 *is* the answer
--Virtue--
My 50s:
Tigra Swipe (BS/SR/Dark Scrapper)
Galena Storm (Emp/Ele/Ele Defender)
Master Tolarin (Psi/Fire/Force Blaster)
Don't forget, when you get to level 50 you unlock either the Kheldians or the Arachnos VEATS.
You can also bask in the glory knowing that you made it to 50 and how great some of the story arcs were.
I've logged more hours on my main level 50 SINCE hitting 50 than some of my other characters took to GET to 50. I STILL haven't done all the content with him.
What do I do at level 50?
I log onto my main after a rough day at work, load up on inspirations, then I go find the biggest baddest thing I can....and SHRED it.
Wonderful stress relief. I also spend time making my 50s even better than they were before.
The whole: "Wow, I'm level 50, I'm AWESOME!" thing? Yeah, it doesn't stop. And then you go out and get...you guessed it...MORE AWESOME!!

If PVP was as fun as those other games, it would definetly extend the life of my 50s, although one can only dream so much.
Like said before..basically hitting 50 does nothing more than give you a pat on the back for reaching it..as it's basically the same playing as before.
But in my opinion..46 & 2 are the best levels.
But what about 25 or 6 to 4?
