Don't know if this really relates to lore, but what are the grammatical rules that the Rikti adhere to? It's kind of hard to include Rikti speech into AE plots when you don't know for sure if the line you wrote for them is in actuality how the Rikti would say it.

Imagine a colon everytime William Shatner would do a 'dramatic pause'.... close enough.

My question is, is there any reason for the gender discrimination rampant in most groups in the game? I mean the Knives have their backstory reasons, but I can only think of 3 enemy groups that aren't all male, or all female, Carnies, Arachnos, and Longbow.

Also lol at the Chrono Trigger refferences about 15 pages back.

Can we get some info about the Zig?

Paragonwiki doesn't have much background and the original Prima guide just has two paragrpahs.

When it was built, prisoner population, how many guards, an example of the type of security they have, legends within the Zig among prisoners, who's the warden, how is it funded, why did they make it look like a zigguraut and anything else you'd care to reveal.

Thank you,

You know what? Add all that extra info to my original question, too.

What are the names of the four heroes who have statues in their memory at the four corners of Atlas Park?

[/ QUOTE ]

Although the statues are generic and used everywhere, some of the statues are the same as in other zones where they are identified by plaques or zone descriptions. I'll see if I can dig them up once the servers come back up.

South East statue could be John Knox. In Steel Canyon the history plaque on the same statue reads:
This statue honors John Knox of the Midnight Squad, otherwise known as the Crimson Fist. Knox was among the many heroes to give their lives in the Rikti War, but he is best remembered for his efforts to keep Superadine off the streets. Using his powers of telepathy and divination, it was he who first linked the sale of Superadine to the Family.

North East statue could be Wavelength in a different pose. The large statue at the north end of the northern bridge in Independence Port is of Wavelength. It is mentioned in the mission text for "Assist the Security Chief in Independence Port", which reads "If you get a chance take a look at the Statue of Wavelength near the water. She was a speedster who fell in the Rikti War."

North West statue could be Mustang in a different pose. The large statue in the Rikti War Zone with the Ace badge has this description: "This statue honors Mustang, a valiant hero who fought during WWII."

South West statue could be Galaxy Girl in a different pose. Her large statue is in Galaxy City with a plaque that reads: " Kelly Graham never thought she was destined for greatness. That changed one night when she was walking home from work. She came upon an innocent woman being dragged into an alley by some masked men. Kelly called out for help, to no avail. As her fear and anger grew, she launched herself toward the alley. After a blur of flying, energy blasting, and healing light... Galaxy Girl was born!"

Also, the statue in the lake at Prometheus Park is of Wayland; his statue, and that of Cassiopeia and M1 are mentioned in the Galaxy City zone description: "Several breathtaking statues are found scattered throughout the district, reminding the residents of those who gave so much of themselves for the people of the city. The sculptures are all dedicated to heroes who made the area their home, and include Wayland, a self-proclaimed descendant of a Norse hero; Cassiopeia, the lovely psionicist; and M1, born and raised Matthew Barnes in Equinox, who enlisted during World War II and joined the 1st Hero Brigade."

Heres a little descrepancy that needs some clarification:

The Freedom Phalanx was founded by: Statesman, the Dark Watcher, Elementar, Maiden Justice and "team Vambrace"

Ive seen "Team Vambrace" described as a duo consisting of scientist James St. John-Smythe who invented the Vambrace armor and ex-football hero Brandon Warfield, who would wear the armor.

However in the Novel The Freedom Phalanx, There is no mention of "Team Vambrace" but Vambrace is referenced only as one person. Says He suffered from Alzheimer's in 1964, and died in 1972.

if they are "both right" and the novel was only talking about Brandon the football star, then what happened to Professor John-Smythe who invented the Vambrace suit?

And for a little more cool factor, what is the Vambrace suit's technology like and what are it's powers?

He settled down after the duo broke up and had a son.

Well, that's my guess. Probably not too far off either.

How could you not be amused at the Blue Steel answers? Those were Pure Win-mignon with a side of Epic-slaw and drizzled in Awesome-sauce.

I could understand not being satisfied with those answers.. But not amused? There are some jaded people in this crowd.

Hooray, Sean answered some of my questions! Unfortunately for me (and the fans of THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE), he tabled the "Praetorian Earth" questions until closer to the expansion for "Going Rogue." *sigh* So I will have to develop that part of the story later than I'd hoped.

Kudos, though, for letting us know that Red Widow has not been forgotten!

I've always wondered but I can never find any info about this, so I figure I might as well ask.

What happened to make Dark Astoria the way it is? I know there's a plaque in game that mentions a vow by Statesman to restore Dark Astoria to the way it used to be, but I've never heard what caused it in the first place. I know the Banished Pantheon have something to do with it seeing as they're the sole enemy group there and most BP missions seem to take place on instanced maps of Dark Astoria. Love the zone, but I'd love it even more if we knew more about it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Three words -

Mass Sacrificial Ritual. It's shut off into a hazard zone because the BP took advantage of the chaos of the Rikti war to perform that ritual, slaughtering everyone in Astoria. Since it couldn't be dealt with right then, it got walled off. Also, Moth cemetery has, as I recall, a *very* long history, predating Paragon.

(Also, they're not the only group there - the Circle is there trying to reinforce bindings on "The Sleeper," and the Tsoo are there after being sent in to "find something" by Tub Ci.)

Edit:

There may not be any lore relating to this * at all,* but during a bug where DA had no fog (I don't recall if this was live or test,) it was fun to go around and see everything all at once. There's a pair of matched statues near a ramp that seem to be 'twins.' Any story behind them? Or just something neat to drive between?

Odd question. Not sure how it relates to the canon, and maybe I have missed an obvious question - but...

Who is the "Elena" who appears in billboards around the city and the Isles? I take her to be some kind of performer, but what does she do? Does she have a greater place in the canon?

Does Lord Recluse sleep? If so, how? He has big spider arms attached to his back, and I can't think that they'd be comfortable unless he sleeps on his belly but I can't see him sleeping on his stomach because that'd leave his back way too exposed.

Thanks!

Question 1: Nemesis and the aftermath of Brass Monday.

*Contains spoilers for the CoH novels*

Near the end of Brass Monday, Maiden Justice tracks down Nemesis' subway lair. She finds an old man arguing with a "robot" about the flaws in their plan. Maiden Justice bursts in, but not until after it's implied to the reader the robot may be the one in charge. The robot escapes, and she takes the old man into custody who then later confesses to the police that he's Nemesis.

So my question is, was the old man Nemesis and he later escaped with the help of his automatons, or was the robot actually Nemesis and the old man was just taking the fall?

Question 2: The Olympics and professional sporting events.

In the CoX universe, do they still hold the Olympics, the Super Bowl, etc, and if so, how have they been affected by the fairly wide spread phenomena of super humans?

Question 3: Laws and rights for artificial life forms and planned organisms.

Do sentient robots, like Citadel, have "human rights" and can they do things like hold US citizenship? How does the law adapt to a clone/engineered human who's birthdate says they're only a couple of years old, despite being physiologically an adult, who wants to buy a six pack of beer without being denied for being "under 21"?

About a year and a half ago, I made a toon on Champion and I named her Fractured Dawn. At the time it sounded like a good name to me, and has since been recycled numerous times between both Blue and Redside. It wasn't until shortly there after that I actually stopped and looked at the sign above the movie theaters and realized that it was a name that was already in use in the game.

My question: Who exactly is Fractured Dawn? Is that just the name of the actor/actress in the movie "The Rise of the Council" or is it the name of an actual Hero who happened to be in a movie? And if it was an actual Hero, how did they fit into the Paragon City universe?

Posted

I can try to answer the Fractured Dawn question.

If my memory serves me right, that took place when the devs nixed the 5th Column and had the Council take their place. There was a "movie" to be made in regards to it, and the devs held a contest to see who could come up with the best title. The one title chosen would name the film, and the person who submitted the entry would star.

I remember entering this, but the winner turned out to be none other than Fractured Dawn. It strikes me, however, that FD has probably moved on to greener pastures if you're able to make a character with that name.

Or you're the same person with amnesia.

Or it's a Nemesis plot.

... It's always a Nemesis plot.
