LOL What?
I remember when even Victory was a 3-yellow blip, "Medium Load" server on the select screen during peak hours (2005-2006). I haven't seen it go above 1-blip on the select screen in over a year and a half, even during the free weekends.
My anecdotal evidence clearly shows the game has contracted and continues to contract, disputing your anecdotal evidence.

See why presenting facts is a good thing?
If the OP didn't present facts, you can turn around and present logic supported by official facts, completely shutting down his thread for good. If you argue back with your own anecdotal evidence, you're feeding trolls and allowing them the opportunity to fight back with a "nuh-uh" or "no u" defense (like the one above).

Have I just missed serious "Forum Cartel" talk in the last three years? The last time I saw anyone post about the insidious Forum Cartel and *mean* it was back in the CuppaJo days and the fallout from ED.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only people who think the Forum Cartel is important is... themselves.
"Forum Cartel" denotes the usual suspects. They think and post in a unilateral ideological block, usually an unpleasant, prone-to-dogpiling and snarky block at that.
Me, I outgrew cliques by about 5th grade, but I guess some people never do. Whatever makes them feel safe, I guess; some people need that "comfort zone" of their peers and some of us think that's a really cowardly, 5th-grade sort of a way to roll. *shrug*
Ain't my problem.
Edit: I really should be clear that I do not view everyone with the Forum Cartel title under their names as members of this nasty little group of forumites aboout whom I am speaking. This is patently not the case; this is not a clique denoted by posting title, but is denoted by how one behaves in general.
[ QUOTE ]

That's not true. People use it as an excuse to invalidate other people's opinions all the time.
During i14 open beta we had lots of discussions on Dev's Choice. We had people throwing around the idea that people with a lot of forum exposure were basically guaranteed a DC slot. I made a post showing that only a small percentage, like about 9%, of the DCed arcs are by really well-known forumgoers, and that there were other big name people who didn't have DCed arcs.
Someone else made a similar post but expanded the concept of "forum cartel" to anyone with more than 1000 posts (basically, anyone with anything but the default forum title), which of course engulfed a good percentage of the users with DCed arcs. Other people jumped on that to say "See?! Forum cartel owns DC!"
Apparently I was cartel all along and didn't know it.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Then, in my personal experience, it is only slightly harder to find a team Redside now than it was when I first started playing back when CoV was shiny and new. Blueside, more people are stuck in Atlas Park in the AE building. Hang around in there and you can find teams of any level. Ran two TFs Blueside and a Mothership Raid in the last 24 hours. No trouble finding a team at all
PvP is a different story due to the changes that were made. There's where you definitely will have trouble finding a team

Yeah it seems that mothership raids are more common now. I see them everyday. As for the AE teams, as a rule I try to avoid them but when I get desperate I jump on it. One thing i can say is that having so many 50s grped in ATlas makes it easier to form Those higher lvl tfs like the ITF, hmm...maybe i should try forming a STF Monday, will post the results here. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Psst. They upgraded the servers in like 2006-2007 and the new "1 blip" indicates a lot higher load than the old "1 blip."
Yet Freedom and Virtue were still grayed out during the 5-year events with the higher load servers. *scratches chin* Wonder what that might mean.
Psst.. pretty sure Captiosus was using that example precisely to highlight the pitfalls of arguing from anecdotal 'evidence' and probably is well aware of the facts concerning the servers.
It's good that you point those out for the benefit of everyone else in the thread, as it probably can't be said too often, but I think you may have missed the point of the quoted post.

My exact source for the exact information? Like.. 1 2009 blip=2.6 2006 blips exactly or something? Not that quickly.
Will the announcement about the extended server downtime for upgrades and the initial announcement that they were re-investing in the game and it's servers do for now?
Hmm, funny.. over 15 months ago.. not quite 18 months, but still.

Eaten by the forum monster long ago, but this has been posted by the development team repeatedly. The dots on the server select screen do not denote population, they denote server load. One dot means light load, three dots means overload and over that the server is locked to ensure the people on it don't lag out. Rather than more dots being good, it's actually a BAD thing, because it means the server is overloaded, likely lagging and in danger of being locked so that you can't log in. That means the number of people currently logged into the server is close to exceeding the server's hardware capacity. In practice, one green dot is how all servers should look like, because it means they're operating well within capacity and load problems shouldn't occur, while three red dots means overlad, which is generally bad.
That's why servers with the heaviest load were put at the bottom at Launch - to get people to pick the lower-load servers where they could play with less problems. They were flipped once, but then returned to lowest-load first, highest-load last because it simply overloaded Freedom and Virtue. Even these days, when popular events like Double Experience happen, Freedom gets locked. You'd think many dots would be a good thing... Up until it's so good you're not allowed to log in, and until you realise that even when you do, it lags.
There is no reliable measure of population.

[/ QUOTE ]
Seeing as the well known forumgoers represent much less than 9% of the playerbase, your own numbers indicate well known forumgoers have a higher proportion of DC arcs than the average user...
Of course, this is most likely because well known forumgoers are people who're socializing much more, are more passionate about their work and will promote it more often and in more places, and not because of any "conspiracy". Still, you'll want to be careful with quoting numbers working directly against your point.
[ QUOTE ]
Playing in the game is proof enough for most folks, to see how many there are. *shrug* I am sorry if I can't produce the magical numbers you want, since as it was pointed out by another nay-sayer that it's up to NC and they haven't released their numbers yet. My anecdotal evidence is backed up by others' anecdotal evidence, and what we pretty much see is a difference. I can't offer you numbers I don't have, but I can offer you the very strong opinion shared by others.
I don't really know why you'd wonder - unless you somehow think that it's wrong? Have YOU experienced something different and in what way? The only thing we can compare in
reality here, are more anecdotes.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's interesting that I myself have been having the exact opposite of your experience. I can see why people get heated about this issue.

I'll back that up. I distinctly remember a DOOOM thread in which someone noted that during a double XP weekend or something that most of the servers didn't get out of green. One of the devs posted a reply stating specifically that the dots represent load, not population, and that in reality, the population was higher than it had ever been. When they added server resources a little more than a year ago, they made it unlikely that any but the most populous servers during high-profile events will ever get out of green status. That thread was pruned a long time ago, so I doubt anyone will ever be able to dig it up.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but you see that doesn't matter. Remember, the devs always lie about their own game! Their word can be trusted the least, because they have a deep investment in the game doing well. So they will always give you the most positive answer possible.
Or at least, that would be the likely response. No proof positive will ever be enough to convince certain folks in this thread. It's always going to be lies, or a cartel of sycophants shouting others down, or blind fanboi-ism. Because they're just looking for a reason to be angry and can't stand the idea of being wrong.

Pa-lease. Despite my lower post count, I've had Cartel Status long before you. :P Don't tell ME how to get into the Cartel, I told your parents, and your parent's parents, how to get in.

Technically, I think B_I owes me $20 anyway. She made an open bet about how someone would PM her something, and when I tried, I found myself on her Ignore list (not sure for how long). So I think I technically earned that.
Or it was P_P who owes me, I'm not sure. But someone owes me a $20, damn it!
