If you come to the forums looking to be insulted, you will be insulted
[/ QUOTE ]
And who exactly are YOU to determine whether or not someone *needs* insulting, "Mr. All-knowing SUBJECTIVE Opinion?"
[/ QUOTE ]
I should have phrased that differently. If you come here looking to be insulted, you will find something to be insulted by, even when one isn't actually present. I meant to say that people who look to be insulted will take offence at exceedingly small things, not that there will be people to insult them because they deserve it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, just to clarify, I wasn't attacking you or anything... Sometimes I like to pick out phrases said by people on these boards to share my inner sarcastic/cynical self with everyone.... I actually agree with you. Someone who is looking for something to be offended by will most likely find it... Falls under the same principle as "If you think you're going to fail, you probably will."

Is this thread still alive? I'm waiting for the OP to finish ignoring everyone who posts, so he can effectively shove his fingers into his ears and go 'Nah nah! Not listening!'
Even if it seems that he's been doing that exact thing so far.
Well, that's what happens when our illustrious Forum Elite *snicker* comes in here and starts doing what they do; this does not encourage cooperation on the part of the dogiled.
To the contrary.
Want politeness? Give it to get it. Our Forum Illuminati just never seem to grasp that, though. "I'll SNARK you into conceding my point of view!"
Ooooooooooooooo-kay, that will work.

This is waaaay back in teh thread, but I saw as I was starting a read-through and I would like to know that as well. Im sorry if it offends you but it is a legitimate question. if you are going to cite cold hard facts to support your argument, then thats wonderful (and more than most people can be bothered to do), but you ahve tob e willing to prove that its actually true.
My understand had been that the game reached its peek number of active subscriptions in 2006, with over 200-thousand and that despite brief surges during new issue releases or special events, it has been consistantly tending downwards since then to an 2008 finish of somewher between 100 and 150 thousand subscribers. If issue 13 has created a LONG TERM increase in the number of subscribers, as you claim, then I would be interested to know that and would like to know where you ahve obtained this data so that I may consult them both now and in the future for my personal benifit.
Thank you.
That having been said, I must add my voice to the general overwhelming consensus that regardless of the increasing or decreasing nature of the game's population, and issues over icnreasingly diverse content leading to increasingly isolated players, Freedom is still a relatively easy place to find teams, and certainly PvP teams. If you have beens incerley trying adn completly unable to find team-mates then I can only conclcude that either something has drastically changed in the last few weeks since I visited, or else you are, at the risk of being glib and dismissive, doing something wrong.
Stop hatin' on Inhaler and BI. (As much as i loathe the term "hatin", i like it more than all your persecutin' of these two gifted people. They recognize grand conspiracies orchestrated by a cabal of mysteriously powerful and erroneous prolific posters where i can not. This superior perception has left me in awe at the magnificence of their ability to pierce to the truth hidden from the rest of you. Everyone else here just sucks. Especially those of you who don't even know that you're orchestrating a vast conspiracy to hold the forums as your empire of bytes.)

I never said I had "cold hard facts." I said "measurable" and to me, looking at the game's population *in the game* and producing *real, easily seen results* seems to be about as good as we're going to get. Because frankly, the "other side" of this argument *cannot prove their version either*.
So the question is, do you prefer whining about how the game is harder to find teams in now, or that the game is clearly expanding? Because so far the 'anecdotal' evidence is that it's expanding. Even the OP states right out, they FOUND a team, they GOT players. At the same time as Bill was doing the same thing! Defeating the entire argument he had, at any rate.
Does it seem harder? To me? No. Does it seem like there are more people? Yes. *shrug* again I fail to see where I must dig up "hard facts" when the OP did not start with his own.

There is no such thing as the Forum Cartel.
If there was, we'd probably spend all day talking about Deadpool anyway.

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
There is no such thing as legitimate anecdotal evidence, Zekiran. Mostly I am interested in knowing the actual truth. From your statement it seemed as if you had seen objective, reliable data somewhere, and I wanted to know where. Obviously you haven't, and I thank you for answerign my question.
It is possible to find teams yes. Or at least /I/ and my friends are able to fidn a team, though as noted above I am forced toa dmit the possibility that my experience and that of my friends is a statistical anomaly. As to the more important issue of whether the game is expanding or contracting (IE whether it will become easier or harder to get teams as time goes by), there appears, as Mr. Spock might say, to be insuficient evidence to form a conclusion.
What puzzles and wounds me is how vehemently they've rejected my fawning praise and adulation...

How could i have not seen this before?! The forum overlords have subverted me! i'm a Manchurian candidate secretly at the beck and call of the masters of the forums sent to damn. them. with. effusive praise? Wait, that's not right...
Aha! i was actually sent to attempt to infiltrate their ranks, but they saw through it before i even had a chance! *sobs* How could i? HOW COULD I?!

Have I just missed serious "Forum Cartel" talk in the last three years? The last time I saw anyone post about the insidious Forum Cartel and *mean* it was back in the CuppaJo days and the fallout from ED.

Once again, how many Farm builds/PvP builds can go without stamina?? Regen Scrapper? I think not, especially when you are facing off against a really sturdy brute. Fire/kin trollers with transference? Maybe if u are io'd out and slotted for some major rech, tried it before without stam, it sucked terribly. Give me more terrible builds to play without stam please.
[/ QUOTE ] Farm builds are an entire different animal and I dont think is really relevant to the discussion. The entire goal of a farm build is to kill at extremely high rates, and getting stamina goes a long way to accomplishing that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, but wait a minute. The argument I see all the time [not necessarily from you, just sayin'] is that "no one needs Stamina and only lazy/greedy people pick it up."
As Samuel said, I think the definition of "highly functional" is the problem. I think some people are calling being able to fire off three attacks in a row while teamed, "highly functional." That's not my definition.
My definition of "highly functional" is "able to stand there for ten minutes straight pounding on an AV such as Romulus + his Nictus pals, or the entire Freedumb Phalanx at once, without huffing, puffing, begging for blues, having all my toggles dropped, or any of the other bad things that occur when END bottoms out."
I am not here to fire off three attacks and then have to Rest while my team mates pick up my slack. I am here to act as a one person Weapon of Mass Destruction; this is my function and it is very high, admittedly. High function means I need a lot of Endurance and this is just me.... +End power choices are nice, but they nowhere near fill the bill that Fitness does. +End powers are grace-notes, not the foundation of my build. And these powers are almost never, or never, avaliable to me as a lowbie under level 20.
I think a lot of people, especially people blueside, don't see function that way. They're thinking those three piddly little attacks are all they need to do, so why would they need Stamina?
[/ QUOTE ] Well under your definition then I believe Stamina is needed. I wouldn't consider going without it on my AV soloer. Perhaps high functioning was a poor choice of words on my part. My point is that stamina isn't always needed for every character, which some people(not talking about you) claim.
Now obviously if somebody wants everyone of their characters to play at the level you describe then stamina is probably needed on most of them(although it is never needed on a Warshade post level 22, never).

Pa-lease. Despite my lower post count, I've had Cartel Status long before you. :P Don't tell ME how to get into the Cartel, I told your parents, and your parent's parents, how to get in.
....
Technically, I think B_I owes me $20 anyway. She made an open bet about how someone would PM her something, and when I tried, I found myself on her Ignore list (not sure for how long). So I think I technically earned that.
Or it was P_P who owes me, I'm not sure. But someone owes me a $20, damn it!
[ QUOTE ]
Sad part is, no one can make a build without stamina that I can't make more survivable and more capable of non-stop carnage with stamina.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the big thing with Stamina - it's both the EASY choice and the RIGHT choice if what you're after is maximal performance. In terms of cost to benefit, it's "cheap" in a very broad interpretation of terms. But, as you said, not everyone does, or indeed should, shoot for maximal performance as there really is very little in the game that actually merits anything more than a moderately powerful build.
To that effect, Stamina is only necessary if you're shooting for more power than regular difficulty levels require, at which point the cost becomes justified.
To put a bit of perspective, to me the overriding objective is always how closely the character I build corresponds to the powers, style and feel of the concept I have envisioned. To that effect, raw performance beyond "does well" is immaterial, which makes Stamina very "expensive" as it costs me power picks that could have fit the character better, where a few more slots here and there generally don't "show" on a character and so are cheap to hand around.
It's all down to what people want out of the game.
