So, out of curiosity, when are you going to stop this policy of "pay us inordinate amounts of money so your character can have another look"? It is my opinion that full size costumes should never require payment like this. Neat helmets, a neat aura, something to that effect, sure, but this is a pay-to-play MMO. We pay for a reason. That reason is to have additions doled out to us at a regular basis, otherwise we're just another free-to-play Korean MMO that'll charge you money to buy in-game items.
Not that it matters, since you'll likely make a pretty penny off it nevertheless, but that's my feedback on the matter.

Angry_Citizen is still angry. Check!
(qr) Well, you've just blurred the line between my personal (PC) and professional (Mac) life. That being said, I'm already pimping COH to Mac owners I know, and expect to run out of referrals when its available. My Dell smashes my G4 (which is not on the supported hardware), so I won't be playing COH in OSX anytime soon, but still, wow.
I am simply amazed. Has someone told Brent Sienna at PVP Magazine yet?

I don't understand why you're making it even easier to travel to a mission. At least considering giving it a very long recharge timer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um... you enjoy spending a lot of time traveling to missions?
*waits impatiently for the PC version of the power*
Hmmm I'm thinking about Shard TFs. Have one person use the mission Teleport then the assemble the team power. rinse and repeat for each mission!!!!!
Level 50s: to many to remember at this point
Now thats just wierd, A friend of mine who is a mac user (and salesman) who is almost never online just came online at exactly the same time lighthouse was posting that. Yet more proof that mac users are freaky
Oh well now at least we can get him to play as he could never get the coh on a mac stuff to work before now.

I'm having the same issue. Tried both Safari and Firefox from my Mac

... if I were to sign up for the Mac beta, would I be able to access the account that I created on my PC on the Mac? Or would this have to be a whole new account?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can use existing accounts, so no need to create a new one just for this. The important part is that you are connecting using the Mac client on Mac hardware.

So if get a Mac, download the client, and sign up for the Closed Beta and log in do I get the "Goodie pack" or is this something that will be sold with actual Mac software when it's released (and released as a SuperBooster on the Website)?
Also is the Closed Beta for Macs the same as the current I13 closed beta? (Or will it be moot by that point?)
I don't mind paying another $10 for something this useful, but if I don't have to wait for the "PC equality"-release I'd hunt down a Mac to use.

I think it is a perfect idea considering macs are generally owned by more creative people (artists, writers, etc.) and this game is the only MMO that really lets you be creative.

I'm having this problem too. Not using any of the special characters they're calling out either.
EDIT: Got past it. I think it chokes if you use to many lines (carriage returns?) in the "Mac Info" field.

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement
# Mission Teleporter Power - Players can save time and get right into the action by teleporting directly to their active mission.
# Exclusive Valkyrie Costume set - Costume pieces include two varieties of wings, a cape, a skirt/kilt, pants, boots, shoulders, chest, gloves, belts, and helmet with multiple details.

Exclusive costume sets based on what variety of computer you happen to own? That is incredibly freaking lame. Oh, but you can buy them if you don't have a Mac. Meh.
You know, I'm all for opening up the game to more platforms, but locking people out of game content based on what hardware they've chosen to spend upwards of $1000 dollars on for the most part is infuriating. Or are you going to be providing exclusive items to PC users free of charge that Mac users can chose to buy?
I'm having a hard time coming up with civil language for how obnoxious this decision is.
Edit: Maybe this should be in the other mac thread. I'm just going to copy and paste it over there.

Funny thing is, the guy in that video is a Mac user. As is John Hodgman, who plays PC in the Apple "I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" ads.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
But they don't get the normal Good vs. Evil goodies of the jump pack, the Pocket D teleporter, and the justice and sinister costumes.
And while it'll be the package that Mac people are pointed to...a new PC user could get that package and download the PC client, while a Mac user wanting the old GvE goodies could buy the old package and download the Mac client.
I'm a mac user who will be switching to running the game on his Mac (probably...my PC is newer and has a better video card than my Mac, so I may stick with the PC), and I won't get those goodies automatically because I'm using the client, as I understand it.

One bit of feedback: the field that we are supposed to fill out with our hardware is extremely limited in character numbers. You should tell people exactly how much space they have and which hardware exactly you want detailed.
I had to keep deleting information until my post went through, but I didn't want to disqualify myself for not having given the correct specs you were looking for. I think a tweak of the instructional copy on that page is in order.

I'll buy it. As long as it's available for non-Mac users.
Well, at first I thought I had entered some sort of Nega universe where everything was off by a few degrees of sanity... then I saw that Angry_Citizen was still angry and that it was just a move to broaden the horizon. Good move NCSoft!
I have always had qualms about offering 'goodies' to get people to buy something... Special stuff for Mac users is kind of an odd way to go; it is good to make them available in the future as a goody pack though.
All in all my disjointed mind says 'Good!'.. now...
Wheres that Linux Port???? Y'all are already working w/ TransGaming.... come on now!
Heads up - the hardware specs field doesn't like 'returns' or 'line feeds'... so resist the urge to put the specs on seperate lines.

Yeah, like Hunter Kressel (sp) who did that great Mac "boat Anchor" one. I just thought it was fitting here for humors sake.
The Macworld article that another poster linked makes some good points, and as a whole it may well bring in some new players that will stay, which is a good thing for the rest of us players as well as the company's bottom line. I mean, somewhat jokingly, Mac users are definately more geeky and fanboy/girlish, Hell Woz might roll up a Controller.

It doesn't take very long to travel to missions. Killing all zone travel makes too many zones vacant which is not good.
Encountering other players is important and brings more socializing to the game.
Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.
This is really a fantastic development!!
Playing on a MacBook Pro right now and the game looks great under Bootcamp/XP, but it's the only reason I reboot these days. A Mac game client would be fantastic and I'll be happy to give any feedback that will help this along (signed up, and yes, there are issues with linefeeds and overall character count on the form).
I am wondering if it might be more constructive to split the discussion about the bonus items to a separate thread. That's obviously of interest to a larger group of people and I'd hate to see this great development for Mac users drowned.
Thanks a lot.
Someone asked 'why make it easier to get to missions'.
One possible reason: Mission Creator.
With all the new content, maybe making it easier to get to the missions will also make the 'risk' of traveling to new user-created content and finding that you don't like the mission a lower 'cost' to the players. And better to have more time to enjoy the new content.
Possibly?

This is what i want to know. A friend of mine plays COH in her Mac through Bootcamp and she's dealing with crash issues. Will she have to rebuy the game to get the Mac version or can she just download the mac client from her account page?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry to hear about your friend's crash issue. My guess (and only a guess) is that there will be a fee -- otherwise how would TransGaming Inc., the people who did the port, get paid for their work?
