So when around do we expect to receive them and for it to start?

Mac Closed Beta applicants who have met the minimum system/OS requirements will be contacted soon.

As my previous post stated, we're just wrapping up a couple of things before we have the kick-off.

All the Mac Closed Beta players will be on their own server (independent of the Open Beta Training Room server), so really, we're just wrapping up a couple of things on the back-end.

So maybe that's what Training Room 01 was taken down for...

I have a question about this one: Isn't the point to get the Mac client to play well with Windows peers on a shared server? Or is the point to weed out any possible server-crashing events first, and then move to the main Training Room?

If the Mac client is tested in an isolated Mac-only server until it goes into Open Beta there could be some real huge issues down the road.

I imagine it's because they can't run a Mac I13 closed beta and a PC open beta on the same server at the same time.

Once the Mac side gets out of closed, it'll probably link up with the rest of the world.

This is what i want to know. A friend of mine plays COH in her Mac through Bootcamp and she's dealing with crash issues. Will she have to rebuy the game to get the Mac version or can she just download the mac client from her account page?

[/ QUOTE ]

She can download the Mac client for free when it is released.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do we still get the in-game items?

Not unless you buy the box or the item pack from the online store when they release it there next year. (Which is just how, for example, the GvE box works.)

So, here is my situation. I own all the special editions, and all the in game packs etc for my acocunt. I currently play on my MAC via Bootcamp. So...

If I put COH on my MAC OS, with the game packs I already own, will it automatically unlock the Valkrye items, or do I need to buy the game for the MAC and "upgrade" all over again?

Right. Being stupid, I missed out on the initial wave of invites, though I expect my build would fit the needs (I fit right in the system requirements). Is there any sense of how long it will be before the next wave of invites?

(Please note -- I'm not not not not not complaining. I'm the one who screwed up his beta signup. I just want to know how often I should check my spam trap. )

I believe it's the latter. You have to buy the mac client to get the exclusives, but when you log in, you will still have all the exclusives you already had.

Codes are applied to your account. The client you run is irrelevant. At least as it works right now with, say, the GvE pack. Given that the software for the Mac client is essentially the same as the PC software wrapped in another layer of code that lets OS X run it, and that the Mac client will share the same servers as the PC client, I see no reason why this will be any different. As such, I'm pretty sure that you could buy the Mac client and apply the code to your accout regardless of whether or not you actually have a Mac, getting you the month's paid time and the power and costume peices.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure Ghost Falcon will correct me.

I'm on the same boat D:

I signed up for 'em, but my account was deactivated the day before they sent the invites, and I reactivated it the day after.

So I missed it :P

How long is it supposed to take for them to 'Get back to us'?

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement

# Mission Teleporter Power - Players can save time and get right into the action by teleporting directly to their active mission.

# Exclusive Valkyrie Costume set - Costume pieces include two varieties of wings, a cape, a skirt/kilt, pants, boots, shoulders, chest, gloves, belts, and helmet with multiple details.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exclusive costume sets based on what variety of computer you happen to own? That is incredibly freaking lame. Oh, but you can buy them if you don't have a Mac. Meh.

You know, I'm all for opening up the game to more platforms, but locking people out of game content based on what hardware they've chosen to spend upwards of $1000 dollars on for the most part is infuriating. Or are you going to be providing exclusive items to PC users free of charge that Mac users can chose to buy?

I'm having a hard time coming up with civil language for how obnoxious this decision is.

Edit: Maybe this should be in the other mac thread. I'm just going to copy and paste it over there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really? Really... Its that upsetting to you that when the game come out on a new console that theres some new stuff they get for free, that youll end up getting for max $10? Its hardly "Missing out on content" as you said above, youll be missing a costume set and an inherent power that will prolly end up having a 30 min recharge anyway. I mean i'm sure you psyched to hop on your PC and make your Valkyrie right away right?! It's two little things... hardly content and your hardly missing it...

While the others cleared up my worries, I'll just reference this.

Costume pieces should never be limited to system ANYTHINGS, except maybe if they're exclusives to those systems, like special characters in the Soul Caliber series.

Imagine, for instance, you played Soul Caliber II on PS2. You would get Heihachi. Anyone else you played against could also use Heihachi on the PS2 you're playing on.

Xbox, Spawn. Gamecube, Link.

Now, imagine if you went online with this. Imagine a PS2 player could fight an Xbox player. You'd have unique characters completely unavailable to each other.

That was what I thought was happening here- That Mac users got a whole costume set and an EXTREMELY useful power that Microsoft users could NOT get. For free, no less.

Since they come in a box set that they also have to pay for, I'm alright with that. A group getting free costume sets and powers while another has to pay is just pretty stupid. Since it isn't that way, I have no complaints.

As do so many of us. As do so many of us.

OTOH, they had said "pre-holiday" for the release, so I'm kind of hopeful we'll hit open beta soon.

So, are there any other invites going out? Or is the Mac closed beta pretty much full?

Probably going to be a lot simpler.

But one thing that will have to come up a lot in Technical Issues and Bugs is, Are you running Mac or PC?

[/ QUOTE ]

Ironically the new guide is probably going to be the biggest yet, because it will have to cover things that for a Mac that, under Boot Camp, were covered by NC's support site, but work differently for Mac.

For instance, things like using the Mac single-button mouse with CoH, or recommended 3rd party mice, or how to switch applications (if you're listening to itunes in the background for instance), or optimizing gameplay speed.

[/ QUOTE ]

The single mouse button can be changed to the traditional settings in the system preferences window.
