So, are there any other invites going out? Or is the Mac closed beta pretty much full?

[/ QUOTE ]

2nd Wave Closed Beta Invites were sent out today.

[/ QUOTE ]

Will there be a third wave? Pretty please? =D

[/ QUOTE ]You mean they didn't get all the gamers with a Mac yet?

Well, that's a bit depressing. I figured they'd send out some sort of initial general email when they were getting ready to solicit applications for the Mac Beta, but I guess neither of my email addresses were among those randomly picked for the first two waves. And here I was, eagerly checking the Transgaming site's breaking news every couple of days for an announcement along those lines, and apparently it's been underway for a whole month now. :-(

I've lost all track, so I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere. Was the Mac version supposed to go live along with i13? If so, where can I download the client? If not, what's the status and/or vague ETA?

Mac version not live yet, nor even open beta, they've been talking about open beta next week.

I don't understand why you're making it even easier to travel to a mission. At least considering giving it a very long recharge timer.

[/ QUOTE ]

Um... you enjoy spending a lot of time traveling to missions?

*waits impatiently for the PC version of the power*

[/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't take very long to travel to missions. Killing all zone travel makes too many zones vacant which is not good.

Encountering other players is important and brings more socializing to the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Killing all zone travel makes a zone vacant.... Sort of like the Shard? No, wait... Zone travel there hasn't been killed.... Sounds like someone's theory just fell through. Oops.

Will Mac and PC users be able to play together on the same servers?

Will there be some way for PC users to get the "special" Mac costume and Power items?

Will Mac users (eventually) get 36 character slots per server?

Will PC users who change over to Mac machines be able to retain their PC-originated accounts and characters? (Note that this is a serious consideration for those of us ready to upgrade our machines who don't want to deal with Vista and are therefore considering Macs).

These and many other questions to come, but these are the most important ones I could think of at the moment.

Well, generally a dying game doesn't expand to more platforms, so I'd imagine this is yet another sign of confidence from NCSoft about CoX's future.

[/ QUOTE ]

Heck, this game stopped dying the day it was pried from the thick, comics-ignorant talons of Tyrant (AKA Statesman). It's been getting healthier day by day ever since.

Unfortunately, he's still at Cryptic where he's now busily ruining another long-waited MMORPG.

Really, I wish he'd stick with his stated desires and go back to academia. That field is so far gone there's little more damage even he could do to it.

Now that people can't blame all their problems on PvP, we can blame the Mac users!

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know anybody who blames their in-game problems on PvP, as such; they blame the execrably bad, lame, wrong-headed way it was glopped onto the game with invalid conclusions drawn from irrelevant data generated by inapplicable test environments. (Once again, thanks, Tyrant!)

Sounds like just another ADD-accommodating sop to further invalidate our Travel Powers.

Why fly/run/jump when you can log out at your Day Job, come back in 30 minutes and teleport?

And it will probably be suppressed in Pocket D, too.

Ho-hum.

yes.

yes.

I don't see why not.

Yes.

It's the same game, same servers...different client. Client is free, if you buy the box you get the additional stuff, if you don't want to buy the box you'll be able to buy a thing that'll give you the additional stuff probably for $10 or so, judging from past advances.

All of which have been answered in the thread already. Not to be a jerk or anything, but a lot of your questions have probably been answered somewhere in here.

Cool, thanks.

No worries, I didn't think youi were being a jerk, and I didn't mean to sound like an ignoramus, I just didn't feel much like wading through 20+ pages to find what I was looking for, so I confess I asked in a sort of generic way hoping to get a more concise response.

Far from thinking you a jerk, I agree you are right about the info already being here (somewhere)... but I also very much appreciate your answering, anyway.

Awesome, the only reason that I have kept my PC is for this game. I have become a MAC user with great gusto! There is nothing I couldn't do on the MAC....except play COH. Now that is done.....soon! Life is complete :-)

Is there any update on this by chance? I saw the post from last week that they were launching it this week and to watch for more news on it either late last week or early this week.

Yes. As has been stated many times (really really sorry...I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but this has been asked quite a bit), they plan to offer a booster pack with the added powers so you don't have to buy the box.

Or, if you want to buy the box you can do that and apply the code to get the bonus items, just like any other edition (like good vs evil and all that)

I am so excited to be able to play CoX on my Mac! I've held onto my PC so that I could play games on it and after it crashing a week ago and with Crossover and Parrallels not working for me to play CoH I did a google search and was amazed that I wont have to spend extra time and money on my PC before I have to to play the games I love.

Has there been any updates as far as who has been selected or if there is an open beta on the way?

I just realised that I havent been on the forums in close to two years :O

AHHAHHAHHHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHH!

A little late though! Should have come out for the dark side of computing at the same time as City of Villains.

I'm a PC, and I'm a COH player. ^_^

And I'm glad the stuff for the mac edition is gonna be buyable.

I think EVERYONE's had a timed mission in one of those underground entrance hard to find doors, where you're going back and forth, trying to find the way to the tunnel enterance? Thats when I'd use the teleporter.. And considering the backstory to my first (and still primary) character.. the new costume bits make me drool. ^_^

I wuv you, City of Heroes! Rock on!

I would assume open beta is on the way, as soon as they feel ready to release it.

Well, here it is Friday of next week. Has anyone seen anything about an update as to when there just might be an announcement regarding the open beta, or heaven forbid an actual release?

Posted

I'm also keeping my eye on this

...if that's possible, as it's nowhere to be seen.

Posted

They did say that it was launching this week. At this point I can't imagine they'd launch the open beta on a Friday, but anything is possible. I certainly hope so because playing through Crossover Games is really annoying!

I would be willing to forgive the unusual nature of a Friday beta release. Heck I could even forgive a Saturday release if they felt that was needed. Hint, hint...
