Can't wait for the M&G, last year we got their late (attended a panel with CoX ties) and missed most of it.

I've never been to a game related convention, but I live near seattle. Is the PAX worthwhile?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you're a serious gamer (meaning you'd happily spend 12 hours playing games with/against 1000 other gamers in the same room) and you're not claustrophobic (meaning that you don't mind sharing space with 10,000 other gamers for 16 hours) then, yeah, it's worth it, from what I hear.

I may change my mind about avoiding Pax proper. Several of the panels are looking interesting. Of course, that means competing for a seat with the 1,000 other gamers all trying to get in (or all 10,000 other games when it comes to topics like Spore or Fallout 3).

PAX Schedule -- Exhibit Hall Map -- If you didn't pre-register, the cost is $30 for one day or $50 for three days. PAX Home

From the look of the map, NCSoft has a space that rivals most of the other industry heavyweights. So, do we know which NCSoftees will be manning the booth? Are there any special announcements being planned for Pax, CoX-related or otherwise? I gotta agree that "Kicking @r$e at Pax" is an intriguing panel title.

I want to clarify that PAX is really for anyone interested in gaming (hand helds, consoles, board games, card games, RP games), not just hardcore computer gamers. One of the coolest things at PAX is the combination of beanbag chairs and WiFi. I always see huge groups of people sitting around plinkin away on their DS games. I'll also see groups of people on beanbag chairs in certain corners with pen and paper. Then I think, woohoo, now that's old skool! I mean the PAX poster almost always has gaming dice on it!

It sounds like a convention I'd have to start regularly attending, should I ever win the lottery ... LOADS of fun.

Any word yet on which fancy NCNC people will be going to PAX this year?

[/ QUOTE ]

Hero 1 and myself from the dev team, Ex Libris, and Ross. Those are the ones I'm sure about but there may be others.

Who's Ross?

You are correct. Ross is the Marketing guy that will be making sure the rest of the team doesn't say anything Marketing isn't ready to put public yet.

I recall Castle getting the glare of DOOOOOOOOM from Ross at last years Bay Area MnG and quickly trying to change course on what he was saying.

Ross is Marketing. Marketing is Evil. Everyone repeat that with me.

Just kidding ya a little there. Ross was really cool to talk to, although he will likely be keeping an ear on what information is being given out by the rest of the team.

Ross, if you read this, feel free to beat me about the head with a nerf bat at this years Bay Area event. Or buy me a shot of Jager. Your choice.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

*chuckle* Now I got this image of a guy standing next to Positron, censoring everything he says with an air horn that he should not say like the Family Guy episode where the FCC sensors everday life.

There are a lot of conventions like that across the country, actually. Just without the Devs...

Buy a man a Jager and he will remember it for as long as he
is sober..but beat a man with a nerf bat and he will remember
it for life...which depending on the ferocity of the attack could
be rather short...:P

Anyway consider this jealousy because I can't go.. the mind
is willing, the body is a little weak and the money is non existant...*sigh*

Have fun.

Is the PAX always in seattle, or just this year? I might have to miss this one.

At least until 2010. PAX: East Coast is coming.

I'm surprised Jay's not being dragged up. He should know the area, right? Digipen and all that.

Two more weeks. I'm really looking forward to seeing people there. Everyone who is going, I hope you have an awesome time! This year is gonna be epic!
