Hmm well if we're doing 21+ there's a few places in the general area of where PAX is being held. I'll have to look at their event calendars to see what they have going on that weekend.

My office building is next door to the Convention Center where PAX is held. A list of establishments that are within walking distance of the Con :

Cheesecake Factory
Rock Bottom Brewery
Six Arms Brew Pub
Gameworks
Gordon Biersch
Pike Place Brewery

This covers some of the more mainstream places within 6 blocks of the Convention Center. I left off Elephant and Castle as that was where the M&G was last year.

You might wish to note which establishments are 21+ (and what times, if they allow minors some of the day).

All of these places can be suitable for those under 21 but some may require you to be in a Restaurant Area and not the Bar area.

Gameworks is only age restricted in the Bar Area.

I love the Cheesecake Factory, and it is really conveniently close, but do they have like a room or some sort of area they can set aside for us?

I'm assuming that we'll want enough space that we can move tables around if necessary, and get a fairly large group of people within chatting distance of each other. The place we met at two years ago (when PAX was still in Bellevue) was pretty much perfect. We took over most of their upstairs area and reconfigured the tables so that most of us were within talking distance of about ten or so other people.

Elephant and Castle was too tight, and there wasn't any opportunity to really mingle or get to meet anyone except for the two people who happened to share my small table.

2 years ago we met at the Rock Bottom Brewery.

I agree the Elephant and Castle was a little crowded for the room size, but it was a space that was able to be reserved for the meet-and-greet.

Are we talking "walk-in" or "make a reservation for x people" here?

I'll help out in whatever way I can, I work down at Pioneer Square and live in Bellevue so my main methods will be electronic/phone heh.

At GenCon we were able to arrange an unofficial get together that about fifty people showed up to have dinner together.

We nabbed a big room at the Hard Rock Cafe, only caveat to having the space was folks had to order dinner and drinks.

Ideally we should not schedule this on Saturday night as that is the night Guild Wars is doing their big gathering and I do believe I am requested to attend to assist in the event.

Having never been to Seattle you all will need to help be my eyes and ears, I am more than willing to contact establishments and make reservations if we can find a space, time, and start to get a rough count. Ultimately I'll have more time to focus on this when Comic Con is over.

Keep me posted with ideas and possible locations.

I think the Rock Bottom Brewery would be a good fit for something on Friday night.

They list several rooms that would fit a large-ish gathering.

Thanks Gargoyle_KDR,

I'll check in with them to see if we can do a soft booking at this point.

Unlike most folks, I don't actually have a "real" job, so I can go check out any places necessary to pick up stuff, check locations out, and talk to managers in person. I'd already mailed Lighthouse and offered to plan this if necessary; I'm offering services here as well (I was an executive admin for something like 12 years and I've planned three weddings. A party is not an issue. )

Let me know what you need me to do.

at pax a few years ago (when it was in bellevue) we used the Rock Bottom Brewery in Bellevue to meet (back when cuppa was still running the show). I would have no opposition to Rock Bottom again downtown. We also may be able to swing something at The Taphouse Grill.

I emailed Rock Bottom today, so we'll see what they say, if anyone else wishes to try and book space for approx 50 people or so on Friday night, feel free to start looking. Please make sure they understand this will be an informal gathering that will be supported by people paying for dinner and drinks.

Any questions shoot me a PM or email at exlibris@ncsoft.com

I should be able to attend a meet and greet. I'll be there with non-CoH friends, but I'm sure they won't have a problem with me ditching them/coming with me.

And separate checks. It seems some places would rather not have the business of 50 people if it meant 50 checks.

The Rock Bottom in Bellevue was cool with this two years ago, so hopefully the one in Seattle will be as well. Overall, it sounds like Rock Bottom is a good choice.

Londer and I will buy a couple pitchers for all to share.

Seattle Rock Bottom is not particularly well set up for this, they don't have separate rooms, just differing levels. We'll make too much noise for the other patrons (they were our default restaurant a few years ago for pre-theatre dining).

Additionally, as of the last time I was there, their menus have changed and the prices went up ($23.00 for Spicy Macaroni & Cheese with Andouille Sasuage or cajun chicken & a salad), and that may be a bit much for some of the folks coming in. Granted, that was two years ago (after continually declining service culminated in me sending the same meal back three times, we stopped going), so I could easily go back and check.

I'll also look around and see what else is in the area.

Mmm, PAX.

So, I'll be there again, in the Black. More than likely directly attached to NC again.

I promise not to kill myself on your behalf again.

I met Posi & Lighthouse last year at the NCSoft booth, but I wasn't feeling up to the meeting and skipped it. (I regret it, too.) I plan on attending this year.

The Bellevue one also had different levels. We occupied the upper level and it went fine.

I heard back from Rock Bottom Brewery, this is what they had to say:

[ QUOTE ]
I am glad you have found interest in Rock Bottom for your dinner event. I have several possibilities for your event but need to clarify some details first. The spaces I have available are dependent on the time you want to start dinner. If you want to start any time before 800pm I do have my private room available that can hold a maximum of 50 people for a dinner. If you can start after 8pm I have a wonderful space in my upper dining room surrounded by bay windows and capable of seating up to 70. We would need to choose a limited menu for your group and all checks would include tax and a minimum gratuity. I have attached my banquet package for you to look through the various menu options. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Any thoughts?
