This is a permenant version of the temporary power you can earn during the Halloween event. It simply changes your appearance into that of the PPD Hardsuit.

It is not a set of player costume pieces and it required very very little time to create as the PPD Hardsuit was already made and the power to change you into it was already made for the Halloween event.

[/ QUOTE ]

Even that it's the Halloween version of the costume, I'll be quite disappointed if it doesn't make its way (eventually) to those who can not attend to those events.

I -am- already disappointed and overreacting enough, but I don't want to give up hope just yet. Seems like some people are willing to -pay- for it, after all. Myself included.

Please tell the genius that came up with this it's ACTUALLY one hell of a way to make the 99.999% of your paying subscribers to feel like you really only care about those that have the money to attend events like this.

I'm sure a good 99.999% of the playerbase is smart enough to not overreact and think that NCSoft is trying to flip off their playerbase, as opposed to, god forbid, do something nice for a gathering.

That said, yeah, add me to the people annoyed that they're giving these permanent in-game things to people who make the conventions, that those of us who for one reason or another cannot go can NEVER get (in spite of having given them $15 a month for four years--but that's less important apparently than stopping by a booth at a convention).

There are other things that you can only get at conventions...a chance to talk to people face to face, a chance to walk away with some schwag, a chance to get a sneak peak at whatever they're showing off (like the sneak peak some got for the City Vault). But those are inherent to going to a convention where NCNC has a presence, and I can accept that, as jealous as I can get about it. Things like this, permanent things in-game, that you COULD give to everyone, is just an extra slap at everyone else.

Hello GadgetDon. NCNC understands that there are many players on the east coast who would like them to meet at conventions there. At this time, they don't have any plans for any east coast conventions, but it's definitely something they're considering in the future.

Also, I would like to point out the CoX does currently reward its long-time subscribers via the Veteran Rewards system. They understand that the costume powers are nice, and you'll get a chance to earn some temporary costume pieces during the Halloween event.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly....They have no plans to come East in the near future. I travel often, rarely to the west coast though.

Quite frankly I think it's crap that NCNC doesn't support it's East Coast Subscribers in their Cons.

Vet rewards you say??? I have almost 51 months and 54 months they needed to recycle a Vet Reward.

The in-game items they are giving away just become future ebay items. One guy has several of them and is CASHING IN!!!
See here.
This item at $200.00 now and already sold one for $295.00.

Looks to me like this guy will be able to pay for his trip to PAX and scam more people for your temp power trinkets.

Want to give visitors something.... Make another t-shirt or some other non in-game trinket. At least those going to make a buck can't scalp the costume junkies or in-game toy junkies.

Nice to see people that can afford a $400 plane ticket and $100 or more in hotels getting an in game item lots of people have been asking for.

And East coast subscribers? What about us Midwest subscribers?

ok not to sound like an [censored] but this exclusive stuff is getting to be a bit ridiculous. first I love the CoX game and have been a log time player. I understand that giving something away special to people to attend these events but are you planning on releasing these to the rest of the community after x amount of time has passed, like as a costume pack kind of like the wedding pack?

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh yes. Because god forbid, there be something neat out there that not all of us can get.

Because, y'know, I've been a long time player too. And I have no way of going to PAX, even though I want that Hardsuit. But I don't have this level of entitlement that makes me feel like if I can't have everything, then it shouldn't be in the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Making something available to people that are just by chance close geographically so that they can attend this event, or have enough time and/or money to go there is not a good way to promote the game.

You run the risk of alienating alot of your current subscribers which it seems has happened based on the posts here.

I live on the east coast and as such can not attend this event without flying there. I could afford it but it's not high on my list of things to do with $1500 for a plane ticket and then extra for accomodations/food.

Besides, what makes those people so much more special than us? Why not give away some free swag or the like instead of giving something away for FREE that the majority of us can not ever get now? Is my $15/month not good enough? Why is someone on the west coasts $15/month better than mine?

I say make this costume item available to everyone for free and give the lucky few that can attend this convention something other than an in-game item. Doing otherwise just pisses off alot of people.

I'm on the this is unfair to non-west coast people bandwagon. Great for people in that area, shaft for anyone who is not. Using developer time to add content (however non-game changing it is) that players are not on equal footing to obtain is a real PO factor for subscribers. Something NCNC might want to think about.

Alright, then how about for $9.95 make it so we can get ALL the Halloween costumes as permanent temp powers? They're allready in the game.

I have never liked in-game items being given as rewards. Maybe it's because I live in the midwest and will NEVER have any of the stuff, so Im just bitter, but when World of Warcraft does it every year, it annoys me because I can't afford to go to Blizzcon, I will never have a murloc pet, a murloc costume, or I think their new thing this year is a Polar Bear Mount.

So, give it away for free to the convention goers, sure... but let those of us willing to purchase it do so.

There is something like 125,000 subscribers, but let's call it 100,000 since the 125K number has a little age on it. If they do this one like they did at SDCC, there are 1,000 codes. That means there is one code for every 100 players or 1% of the games population can potentially get one of the codes.

Naturally, that assumes they have the same number for both cons (the one in the US and the one in Germany) as they did for the SDCC (if they have 1,000 per con, then 2% can potentially get a code). There's no guarantee they will have only 1,000 or even as many as 1,000 codes to give away this time around since PAX draws a much smaller number of people compared to SDCC.

Thank you for the continued feedback. We are listening and sending it along to the proper channels.

In the end we wanted to create a special gift for those folks that come out to our booth and show us love. Hopefully it is something we can continue to do as we grow and reach out to shows and live gatherings in the future.

Ok, I'll be nice this time. Sure, this thread is so full of flames, the devil himself is taking a lease on it for his winter vacation home.

We love alot of things the Devs have done for us in this game. Yes, there are times when they Balance ::cough nerf cough:: player favorites, and get stuck in repeating bugs. We still love this game. Issue after issue, we keep falling in love with the game even more.

We love the solidarity of the community. The <insert feature here> is absolutley hands down, awesome in comparison to other games. [Sorry, Section 8 shouldn't apply in the context of this statement. I'm not trying to compare/contrast like that] We love being able to hook up with friends from all over, play the game, have fun, and be the social creatures we are.

I would love to be able to pop $4,000 and fly out to Seattle, San Diego, Timbuktu. The reality is I can't. I haven't beaten enough old ladies in the stree...er uh "Helped" enough old ladies across the street yet to land in their wills. I'm sure there are a lot of players who would love to join you guys in a get together.

I say we Keel Haul the person responsible for dividing us over this issue. I hear the Arctic is a lovely below 0 this time of year.

Y'know...screw it.

I'll just hold out hope against hope that all of the Halloween costumes, including the Freaks and PPD Hardsuit go on sale as permanent versions in the PlayNC Store for $9.99 in the near future.

I'd be a lot more sympathetic if people were simply going "I wish I could attend PAX and get this hardsuit, but I can't. Is it possible it might be made available some other way in the future?" rather then what we are getting now which is "The Dev's are showing favoritism to the west coast! Amen, THATS all I was asking for. I wasn't being pissy at who is given special treatment cause they can go to these events, I was simply asking for the access for the rest of us. I am one of the proud purchasers of the wedding pack. proud because I helped the VEATs get released an issue early. Proud because I helped the game and all I want is to help it some more by being able to purchase these costumes they are just giving away to those who happen to be near their public showings or stupid with their money.

They are obviously showing favoritism since they have never attended an east coast convention and have no plans to in the near future.

Besides I already said they should make this item available to everyone by either making it a future vet reward or by purchase through the NC store. That way people that want it but can't attend this con will be able to get it if they want it.

Look at it this way...people have paid to go to the con and are getting this item for free. People that can't attend will pay to get this item from the NC store. NC wins and so do players. I don't understand why you would be against this other than to be against it for arguments sake.

Oh hey... yet another bonus content pack that's out of reach. And since the code won't even work on non-American accounts, there goes any chance of jumping through hoops for it either.

This is starting to happen frequently, and it's getting old very fast. And no, making it available as a Veteran Reward at 60 months or so isn't exactly much better now, is it?

Can we please stop adding costume pieces that only a minority will ever see? The pies in the sky routine is not amusing.

You make it sound like a choice for everyone if they can 'come and show the love'.

Bah, disgusted that the trend of giving a tiny minority of the player base something in game, permanently.

And locking it to region, so can't even try to swap for one. Well actually it only stops international swapping.

I'm not opposed to real phyiscal items going to con goers. But ingame stuff is just rude.

Please pass on my disgust.

Though as you already plan to continue to keep on doing these promo exclusive bs, it looks like only token listening.

I don't really care much that I would have to go to a certain event to get the temp power, but I really do have an issue with this:

*VIP Passes will only work in their respective regions. Passes distributed at PAX will only work on North American Accounts, and passes distributed at Leipzig will only work on European Accounts.

This means, that since I live in Sweden and play on the US servers (like many other european vets), I would have to go half way across the world to get the temp, instead of just taking a ferry and drive a couple of hundred miles... Awesome thinking!!
