NCsoft NorCal is proud to announce a new feature for the City of Heroes® and City of Villains® games; that of Visual Sounds. Visual Sounds are based on the comic book staple of onomatopoeia, or the use of a word to replace a sound. Classic comic book examples are Pow and Ka-Boom! in colorful bubbles while heroes and villains are slugging it out. City of Heroes takes a huge stride forward by replacing simple sounds with the exciting new visual medium of Visual Sounds.

What if its a joke of a joke, eh?... and it really IS being implemented?!
I just figured it was a joke because A) they said it would take a long time to do, 2) Because they're changing i12:Midnight Hour, an epic name to something.... well less than epic such as i12:Biff, Bam , Boom.. or whatever and C) If it's such a huge change, why announce it this close to i12 being released and not push it back to i13?

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of Visual SFX, but I think they should be retroactively given as the 45 month vet reward, so it's more than just a badge and a respec. . . just as long as there's a way to shut 'em off.

btw, I12 should be renamed Issue 12: Rise of the Altaholics.
This will be SO great, although I'd ask that you make sounds as an optional DOWNLOAD, as some other MMORPGs have done with additional audio and better graphics. That way, those that don't want the sound can delete it, but those that DO like the actual sound and have the extra hard drive space can choose to download the sound!

The amazing part is how they mentioned that their market has the sound off while playing the game.. which is true for me. I mute the game (unless I'm looking for a glowie) and usually have music on, talkin on the phone or teamspeak while I play.
While it was a great joke (really had me going til the end) I would *love* to have those visuals!

Because the 6 hours they devoted to the wedding and the time they spent on this joke is so totally about the same amount of time it would take to overhaul Cathedral of pain.. Your absolutely right.
