I'll say it again... THIS IS JUST THE START.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually....considering there will most likely be only one or two updates between this and CO's coming out party this may be the only round of PP many of us will see.

[/ QUOTE ]

I find this hillarious. You do know the person responsible for Champions Online is Jack Emmert, right? The same Jack Emmert who people have been ready to crucify for ED, Regen Nerfs, His belief of "Risk versus Reward", and for his constant ability to promise stuff only to find out he was full of it?

Ya know each AT has it's own section in these forums. Would it of been such a bad idea to put a sticky poll in each one to see what people wanted? Can we do that now to decide what the next round of shared powers will be?

[ QUOTE ]
* I believe the CO 'archetypeless system' is a myth. They've already created 'purchase classes' wherein powers outside one's class cost more. Those who try to be the jack-of-all-trades tank-mage will wind up with the same build (Kheldian-like). Everyone else will max out the purchasing power in their class creating de facto archetypes. But, this is a wild tangent.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Remember: CoH was once a classless RPG, and Cryptic had to do a very costly (in time, money, and PR) turnaround to make the game we have today. It is possible that Jack and his crew have an idea to make it work this time, but I'm betting defacto ATs will be the reality.

What's even funnier is that he's going to be given a bolus of the whiniest, most self-entitled ex-COV players when they storm away in a huff. Most Overpromising Developer, meet Most Self-Entitled Whiners. Let the Champions forums commence.

There's the rub. No matter what the players want, it comes down to what resources the developers can muster to port and balance the sets in a timely fashion.

I can't see it being effective for the players either, as someone might not want something that another player wants.

My post was aimed at that exact group: CoV-only people that are whining that every single bit of shared content is a personal affront to their being.

The concern that CoV is never going to get as much content as CoH is never going to change. There was at least one more year of development that CoV will never have. They are not going to give both sides equal amount of content. To do that they would have to make the CoX-2 and start from the ground up making both factions.

Hysterical speculation is counterproductive,

[/ QUOTE ]
And that is mostly what this thread IS. Until we get a chance to test or play it, all this thread amounts to is hysterical speculation.

[ QUOTE ]
So please don't lump every player with concerns about proliferation into the category of "crybabies." Just because they don't share your opinion doesn't mean they're whining.

[/ QUOTE ]
I don't, but after seeing a few of the same posters repeatedly post "the devs hate us" for at least the last year (and longer) any sympathy I have for them or any causes they take up is pretty much gone.

You want to find someone to blame about my feelings to the CoV-Only crowd? Look to them.

I love playing most of the ATs. I can't stand blasters and brutes. I am iffy on scrappers, tanks, and warshades. I love controllers, stalkers, and Peacebringers. The rest fall somewhere in the middle.

As opposed to the posts of people complaining about stuff that haven't even gone on test yet, complaining about how it's going to ruin the game? And how they are going to quit and go to Champions Online, because it's obviously going to be "soooooo superior", despite the fact that it's nothing more then a couple of screenshots and buzzwords at the moment?

Slows have zero effect on the ability of the ability of the Brute to continue to attack to build fury.

[/ QUOTE ]

Incorrect, a brute has 2 seperate and distinct methods of generating fury.

1. Every attack launched by a brute generates some fury. This is why short quick attacks are often favored by brutes and alot use brawl.

2. Every attack launched at a brute generates some fury. The attack doesn't need to hit them just needs to target them. If you have enough foes on you they can help push your fury up all that much faster than you can do all by yourself.

It is the second class of fury generation that is impacted by slows. If every thing you do causes more slowing effect then you get less fury.

well at least it's obivous that you guys hate the villains now.

[/ QUOTE ]
You know after reading this entire thread, and several others, I have to say something:

Villains-only players are the biggest bunch of crybabies I have seen in ANY game forum. If the developers truly hated villains, they would not make sure that the issues had stuff that both "sides" could use. They don't need to.

They could stop all development of everything red side and devote 100% of their resources blue side, but they do not.

Worse, all these calls of "Devs hate CoV" come before a single player has seen Issue 12 as the game is still not even to the closed beta stage.

Whine moar.

The developers might not hate self proclaimed "CoV-Only" players, but after putting up with all the whining in the last 3-4 free issues, I would not blame them one bit.

[/ QUOTE ]Well said!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Many CoV people are upset, because CoH side got the best buffing powers CoV has to offer. In return, CoV got some ok sets, but nothing mind blowing. (FYI only 1 Villain AT gets access to power boost, dominator's, and they don't have access to ally-buffing powers...).

I want to hear what exclusive CoH players say after VEAT's debut. If the VEAT's are 1/2 as good as I think they will be....the same folks calling the CoV people "whiners' will be doing the whining and nerf-herding. I will happily remind them of posts like this...

At least acknowledge the quote correctly. Slowing the enemy has no effect on the Brute's ability to attack and build Fury the first way you've mentioned. I know how Brutes build Fury, and the enemy can still return attacks, just not as fast. So again, how does slows have a worst impact on Fury building than any Mez that halts the ability to attack?

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Everything about my quote is true. Slowing the enemy doesn't hinder the ability for the Brute to attack, thus building Fury.

Forge is the same as fortitude -defense (which got spread out as the shields) And yes, you can boost forge with powerboost (to hit) perhaps you should rethink before you post.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, you can't, not until i12 and then only as a Controller.

Corruptors don't GET Power Boost.

Well, I'm not sure about denying teaming, but I most certainly have heard many brutes complain that they can't get Fury up cause everything is locked down too quickly.

I'm asked to wait to aoe mez until a mob groups up a bit, use single target mezzes first on important targets (sorcerers, spectral daemon lords, Spec Ops Equalizers, etc).

Im talking donuts, tacos, beer, dancing monkeys.......know what Im saying? I am sending them hand picked turnips tonight!

Villains do not need more zones. Heroes need less. Seriously most of the hero zones are completely under used ghost towns. I would prefer a smaller amount of used zones over a larger amount of ghost towns.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to disagree here...I have always wanted an alternative to Grandville. Nothing else, just that, or allow newspaper missions/contacts to go to 50 in Nerva and St. Martial. (probably easier than getting a new zone). Grandville is too laggy even with a fast connection for many people. I hear complaints about it all the time.

As to the PP...I am glad more options are being available for more AT's. One day they should all be available to everyone.
Hopefully this will come sooner than later and then perhaps more people will be happy because everyone can be everything.

Oh and make patrons respec-able...only fair.

You know, this thread has quickly reminded me why I stopped posting on the boards entirely outside of the Culture section. I used to see this forum as one of the few really fun places to chat about a game. I think it's been about 3 years since it's been nothing more than a few vocal whiners complaining about every single everything in the entire game and frankly, I think I'll be happier to just curl back up in my hole and go back to sleep.

[/ QUOTE ]

Kind of Ironic that you are whining about whiners eh?

Not as ironic as you whining about him whining about whiners.

Once Y2K came and went and the World was still here, both the clock and its owner looked pretty stupid.

well i see nothing has changed in the year since ive left. You guys this happens EVERY ISSUE. Some group of people don't like something about some aspect of the issue. Issue 3 was that people without 50s couldn't get Khelds. Issue 7 was not enough hero content. Issue 8 was too much hero content. Issue 9 was that the stf was too hard. In issue 7 when the heros complained villains got everything and heroes got nothing, they waited until i8 and they got more and villains got less.....it probably will work out like that here guys so please calm down and turn off the damn DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

Well, I'm not an exclusive CoH player, and I am looking forward to the VEATs. I seriously doubt that they will be as good as people expect, unless they expect something along the lines of Kheldians.

If something for either faction is overpowering, it will get nerfed.

mind blowing? thermal and cold for heroes is not? Thermal and cold domination are not mind blowing? PBU and cold domination = -dmg cap pretty much will take out any EB (pve) or AT (in pvp) out of the fight.
What kinda get me mad is the article how they keep describing how MMs cant get kin or how cold armor is not possible for brutes. Kinda adding fuel to the fire.
