Overkilling on the debuffs does not work against Romulus and his Essences, it only works when you overkill on the buffs and damage only.

Oh. Gee, how original. Cheers to variety. -

It's very interesting how many people are completely contradicting each other on the difficulty of this TF. Perhaps post some Youtube videoes to show how you succeeded or failed? There may be a pattern.
[/ QUOTE ]
The pattern is going to be same pattern as everything else, overkill on debuffs and throw damage at it. Include Stone tank for ease of use.
On point, I found the zone itself to be beautifully crafted and extremely disappointed at the complete lack content and story to go along with it. I find it extremely disheartening to realize that the devs spent all that time and resources on creating a new zone to hold nothing more than a single taskforce. -

I'll say it again... THIS IS JUST THE START.

Actually....considering there will most likely be only one or two updates between this and CO's coming out party this may be the only round of PP many of us will see. -
Well even though I knew what the sets were I have to say I'm still disappointed that Scrappers are not getting a punching set. After, what 4 years, of people practically begging for a pure punching set for scrappers the devs finally have a chance to correct this huge oversight in their original design, and they don't.
Even if I like some of the other stuff getting ported this whole thing is 'massive fail'. -

You know, I'm waiting patiently for the announcement in one of these shared content upgrades -- the announcement of a score so lucrative, a target so ripe for the picking, a chance for mayhem and destruction so seductive that only heroes and villains working together will be able to reap the benefits of such evil!
What's that you say? Heroes would never stoop to such levels?
You don't say.
Seriously, if 9/10ths of the new villain content is going to be "go forth and be a hero with the heroes" type stuff, can we please have redemption so we can just go and be heroes period? I understand that we're not where the money is, and so we're not where the priority is going to be... well, ever. And I'm glad for new content I can play, but now that I have a chance to help the heroes investigate the origins of powers, then step forth into Ouroboros to help defeat the 5th Column, and not long after that we get to jump into the Rikti War Zone and save the world from the alien invasion. At some point I'd like to decide that perhaps the heroes have the right idea.
And someday -- maybe, just maybe someday -- we'll have a new villain zone or an old zone revamped, that's all our very own. And maybe it'll have a chance for us to steal some things, wreak havoc, and maybe even put in a bid to take over this world we keep helping save.
Just a thought.

LOL, even though I don't play evil side much, that was well said. -

So, was I reading it right that each AT will get one primary and secondary power from its corresponding AT? If so that's awesome!
[/ QUOTE ]
Every AT gains at least 1 powerset -- Masterminds only get a Secondary, no new Primary. Brutes get 2 new Primaries, and 1 secondary. Everyone else gets 1 Primary and 1 Secondary.
[/ QUOTE ]
If the new Scrapper one is Ninja Blade, I swear I'm never playing this game again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why in the world would they possibly do that when Scrappers already have Katana, which is basically the same thing?
Now the Ninjitsu Secondary, that's a possibility.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because everything scrappers get involves stabbing people? -

It amazes me how even today, after all this time people still come here talking about how they "ZOMG I solo'ed a +20 Level AV by putting brawl on auto and going afks lol!!!111zomgbbq111!!!11!"
Was regen overpowered? Yeah it was, but the thing I remember most about my Regen scrapper was logging on after the update that brought out the second set of 3 tiers of debt badges and getting them all instantly. My Regen was as tricked out as you could make it back in the day and there was still plenty that could burst you down if you weren't careful. Solo'ing AV's and GM's was more about using Lucks and MoG than any of your actual regen powers. Of course the most overpowered of those three was the one to survive, go figure.
You can have all the +Regeneration in the world but when you get hit for 2500 damage and you only have 1200 hp it still won't be enough to help one little bit.
So, anyway, yeah Regen was overpowered, but it was fun. This Self Empathy set it turned into isn't near as much bad guy busting goodness as the old setup was.
Good thing is now Invuln is no longer rooted, SR's doesn't suck before Elude, and DA is slightly better on endurance.Better still we got WP which is much closer to what a Regeneration set should be than Regen itself actually is.

I wish he'd answered the concern some of us have about the impact on prestige earning, with people reaching the influence penalty earlier.

In Issue 12 (no release date yet, sorry), we are going to have you never dropping below 50% Inf. earn rate when in Supergroup mode. We will look at the impact of that change and base future alterations on that.

(aside from MOG) *ducks and runs*

MoG continuing to suck is the only thing that grounds me in reality.
[/ QUOTE ]
You might want to avoid the Training Room in the near future, then.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry regen...small tweak..... you know the rest -
There are really 4 things that any developer of any other game should look at CoX for as inspirations for their own games.
Global Chat, which is a great feature. Sidekick/Exemp'ing, I know some other games are incoprorating it, but it is done quite well here. The LFG Tool here is quite good and is something that is oddly lacking from other games I have played. WoW did add one eventually but too late in the game's life cycle for it to really become a major tool for most players. Lastly Badges. The badge system here was handled realy well with the overwhelming number and variety of badges and the awards associated with them. If I recall the badge system was Posi's baby and he really deserves mad props for it.
Many other things mentioned in the thread I have seen elsewhere or done better in other games including balance between world and instanced content, progression, loot, social tools, etc. The gameplay itself isn't especially innovative but it serves the purpose it was created for well.
Other things such as class/power balance, combat mechanics, etc are really low points in my opinion and something I really hope the devs take some hard looks at for major overhauls if they ever do a CoX 2.
As with any game you take the good with the bad and if in the end you are having fun, its a winner. -
[ QUOTE ]
In fact, I honestly can't remember a single game that came out when they first said it would hehe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Including CoH, which kinda makes me wonder what you are arguing about.
Fact is, and I don't think anyone can dispute it, the content update schedule for this game is horrendous. I come back once every few months to see if an update has come, see it hasn't and come back six months later, to which if I'm lucky there has been one.
I think many people here have hit the nail on the head, the inability to keep up said schedule draws a lot of the excitement out of the game making things get very stale, and that is on top of the ultra repetitive gameplay that gets quite stale on its own.
But I guess that was an easy oppurtunity to take a crack at Blizz....I've always wondered why so many on this forum feel the need to try and measure Cryptic up to them? -
/drinks up
Thanks for the welcome and you're right about one thing Geko, by comparison the hit to MoG isn't really that big a deal.
Doubtful I'll be picking up my Regen this go round anyway. Till they add something to do at 50 that hero is going to stay retired. -
Boo! Scared ya didn't I?
Probably never expected to see my sorry but in the Regen Lounge again.
At least our string of Issue nerfs is alive and well from the look of things. Think I'll take up my old seat here in the Lounge and get caught up. -

That was the plan. As everyone knows, though, plans only work until you actually engage the enemy.
I'm not sure what the status of this is, but we've not forgotten about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The enemy?Too easy, I'll leave it.
But, wouldn't there have had to have actually been AT Reps before first contact ensued? -
[ QUOTE ]
The point is, scrappers are overal a more physical experience than an elemental one.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's only because of the random division of powersets. And for the fact of the matter, scrappers do have Dark Melee/Armor which everyone seems to forget.
There is really no good reason why All Melee powers shouldn't be available to all AT's who use Melee powers. Same for Defense, Ranged, Control, etc.
The only reason the devs have ever given is because of "Flavor". Well, how can Dark Melee, a scrapper set, but the right "flavor" for a Brute yet Energy melee isn't Scrapper "flavor". For a long time they said Super Strength would never be a scrapper set because of AT "flavor", yet Brutes, an AT which apparently shares some Scrapper "flavor", is okay with Super Strength too.
The powersets are so intermixed now there is really little reason to restrict a handful chosen at random as "flavor" for an AT. -

"...while CoV was still under pre-release development" is the bit that I (still) think everyone's missing. Don't misunderstand, I'm not exactly thrilled that CoH isn't getting more with the new issue. I'm not terribly disappointed either since I've personally yet to exhaust the existing game... but that's a whole 'nuther issue.
I just think the "seperate developer team" quote was a specific statement addressing a specific timeframe and that people have subsequently blown it way out of proportion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep...my comments fall exactly into line with what you've said.

Heh, so pretty much what I said earlier....more Statesman doublespeak.
Concern=Small Tweak
No more major changes
CoV will not hinder CoH
I'm sure I've missed quite a few. -

Two Issues later
/dev speak "...we still have some great things in store for you, but I can't give too many details now. You'll be hearing more about it "soon"....."
Another Issue passes
/dev speak "...yep, we haven't forgotten about you. There is some really great stuff on the drawing board that you'll be hearing about "soon". No, really. I have it all listed on the white board behind, just be patient."
Another issue rolls around............. -

As several have noted, I7 features content mostly for City of Villains (levels 41 to 50, in fact). This is exactly what we did for CoH. City of Heroes will receive a cool graphics upgrade, new base items (Empowerment stations!) and access to Recluses Victory. Its true that CoV received more attention, but thats mainly because we needed to fill out the levels. I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when its ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...
For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they arent yet. Thats coming a little later in the year. Id like to add something different to the CoH system

So I8 is probably going to be out around November? See ya then....
