For all the posters saying /storm sucks for masterminds - have you ever played with either a mastermind or the /storm set?
It will most certainly NOT suck. My first 50 was a fire/storm controller in the days before containment.
/storm masterminds will kick pve butt (I don't care about pvp, but they'll probably do well there too).
I really hate to say this, and I don't think I've ever actually said this to someone in these forums before - but if you think like this, you probably need to Learn To Play.

Completely false. You don't build fury from getting hit, you build fury from being attacked. Unless SR has something that slows incoming attacks, it will build fury exactly as fast as any resist set out there - and it has quickness built in, so it can attack faster to boot...

Mmmm. Fire/Fire for scrappers. This is a very appealing development. What the heck is the damage on BU+FE+GFS? (or BU+FE+HS for that matter)

As I said somewhat acidly a week or more ago:
This entire 'new' system would be defined by the arbitrary limitations it imposes---NOT the 'new' options it allows.
This strikes me with the same sense of excitement I had when CoV launched with the same powers as CoH, just with different colors and AT names.
So not enthused by any of this. So not going to go through the same old content again with the same powers stuck on different ATs.
Meanwhile, the options/additions I've wanted since beta get shunted farther and farther into the Negative Zone.
Sorry, Dev Team: I'm not at all surprised by my disappointment.

Well, I didn't say /storm would suck for masterminds. I'm sure it will be very powerful.
It will be utter misery for any brute teaming with them, though. And gawdforbid you don't have a top of the line computer, if you end up teamed with more than one thugs/storm MM tossing out gang war and tornado and lightning storm on top of the standard arsenal of moronic henchmen.

I agree...I have to get Concealment and Leadership to do what a Devices does and that leave me with 2 power pools to select. So I will need fitness and that leave me with one travel power. Do I get Superspeed for hasten? Do I get TP for TP foe? If I get TP then my recharge will suck because of the lack of hasten. etc...

True, but when were these in closed beta? Im pretty sure i9 was the biggest of the 3, and it went into closed beta in Feb?
This is a big issue with new powersets for different hero/villain types, which means a lot of testing on the training room.
I dont see more alpha testing, weeks of closed beta, then weeks of open beta for i12 hit may 1, maybe end of May. Unless they just remove powers from At's during alpha/closed beta testing wihtout FULL on community testing in open beta, Im calling it i12 = June.

I'd like to see Electric Hammer made for Tanks to go along with Electric Armour. And with Weapon Customization, people don't have to worry that it'd be a Thor kind of electric hammer. It could be a stun rod, a tech electrically charged hammer, etc.

It is the red side that needs the balancing buff, and giving MM /kin would go towards that. Have you watched a fire/kin clear a six to eight farm map now by himself? Now take eight fire/kins with their 24 pets and an eight stacks of aoe holds and immobs tell me that is balanced.
Anyway, how would would that be different than any current MM superteam? Do you have any idea what an eight thug/* MMs can do now? By adding /kin you are substituting the -res debuff with a +dmg buff.

I don't see this in Closed Beta or Open Beta for nearly as long as I9 though. Inventions was a massive, fundamental change to the game with about 4 thousand ways it could break the game (at a couple hundred ways it did in Beta ). New powersets have balance issues sure, but the Beta will only get the most obvious and fix them. Most of these sets will have to be tweaked after they go live.

There is some stuff to look forward to here, especially on the Brute side of things, but after all this hype I was expecting a LOT more cross over types. I wanted (as have others I know and play with) to see some more Corruptor/Blaster Proliferation for one thing. How about some Rad/Rad Blaster love or Dark/Dark for that matter?
A decent start so far, but nothing to get all worked up about. Hopefully it's just a start and more will follow.
More=Better in this case.
And ease up a little there _Hush_. Red side did get a little short changed this go round, but as it has been pointed out here already, Red side has had much better powers overall from their very begining.

Nope.
To be honest, I think some of us (me included) had some unrealistic expectations. I really wanted EM/Nin for scrappers. I knew deep down this was most likely not going to happen, but I deluded myself into thinking it may. I don't think I am the only one who did, and that is where a lot of the doom comes from. The up side as many others have said is, this is just the first round. I will keep my fingers crossed that EM/ can be balanced so that scrappers can have it.

Well that is a good point, though they actually said "an" rather than "one" additonal new primary and new secondary.

Since you felt the need to include a set that cannot be added to heroes like the mastermind pets I think I should include the extra forms given by the hero epic AT. Granted you have to access them from another set, however each form gets different HP, can be slotted, separately and they receive special powers that are not included in the original set.

So we picked one Primary and one Secondary for each AT. Except for Brutes. "It would be dumb to not do Battleaxe and Mace when we just added custom weapons", I said.
In the end, most powersets ended up being straight ports. Others required tinting the effects from hero to villain (or vice versa). Stalkers needed an Assasin's Strike. Dominators ended up getting a mix of powers from a melee set and a ranged set and the Blaster secondary ended up with a completely new power.
This is just the first batch. Plenty more to come in the future.

Ok I have to ask because at this point the hypocrisies is through the roof. Why don't we still get Ice Brutes? I know you say 'ice slows down attack rates of foes and thus bad for fury' but Dark Armor has TWO powers that either slow it down just as drastically or outright stop it completely. Further, why does WP share almost all the same FX for most of it's toggles? I know its supposed to be FX light but thats still easily achievable while still having different FX for each toggle. If you say that isn't important, then why is it so many powersets weren't allowed to have stacking armor for that exact reason for so many issues? Not to mention that the reason for that still holds true, its easy to see what toggles are on just be seeing what FX are there.
Sorry for the bit of ranting, but it just irks me on that area. Also, DA tankers? Thats going to be a very hard to balance set for sure.
