48 Month Veteran Reward Unveiled!
[ QUOTE ]
The buff part seems great.
But... I wish they were more "Comic bookish". Thematically I can't imagine any of my characters (who tend to silver age) having any of those as pets. (a few might use the drones). Fairies? Wisps? This isn't a Fantasy game. And Clock Work? Sure I get the easy part, the art was in the game already. But... how about something that thematically fits. Long Bow robot? Arachnos Drone? Maybe not. Anyway. JMTC. I for one care more about theme than numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
The same basic complaint of "lack of good choices" was leveled at the 36 month Vet Award too.
Both of these Vet Awards could benefit from more choices.

And...it would be nice if you could change your mind about the choice you already made if they actually implemented more choices. :P

Pretty sure it was already confirmed the buffs affected only the owner. So the page the Devs wrote up is either wrong or they made them team buffs just in the last few days since they were discovered. Frankly I think the Dev write-up about that is wrong.
Then again if it is right this is a HUGE new advantage.
Almost too good to be true if you know what I mean...
[/ QUOTE ]
It must be hard, not believing a word anyone says, no matter how much proof is in front of you.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're kidding right?
Not only was I a person who never doubted that this Vet Award was a new set of pets when people were talking about this last week but I also didn't doubt when people were actually testing these pets last week and telling us that the buffs only affect the owner of the pets.
Now certainly the Devs could have made these team buffs in just the last few days. But until more people test these pets and tell us they are "actually" team buffs I'll believe what has already been tested.
You do realize how potentially overpowered these buffs would be if they -are- team buffs right?
Certainly possible of course, but to think that all Dev documentation is error free is naive at best.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where did I say that you didn't believe that the pets existed? I would assume that you can read, like the rest of us. Unlike the rest of us, however, you tend to assume the worst in the devs with just about everything they tell us. You jump to the conclusion that the devs must be wrong in their announcement because you assume things that were discussed between players themselves, with no dev response, are correct.
Test is subject to change. Devs are allowed to change their minds. Neither one makes them wrong.
I agree with you, however, that until the rewards are live, its useless to argue either way. And even if they are live as a personal buff, there's nothing in the rules that says the devs can't change them to a team buff.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
will these work in the arena?
I don't assume the Devs are wrong with everything they say. But I've also seen dozens if not hundreds of "typo" like errors in all sorts of things the Devs have tried to document over the years.
As I said a few posts ago this point was tested last week and the buffs, at that time, were NOT team buffs.
Obviously the Devs could have changed that in the last few days.
But I'll believe THAT when I see it.

only 2 more years togo then before i can grab one of these.......and thats why im not going to care about vet rewards anymore, it's become a "meh" subject to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you get off at the wrong bus stop or something? All of us were in the same boat at one time. Most played without the lure of Vet bonuses.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not at all, i love the game and will keep playing for a long time yet, but the vet rewards are not what keeps me here.
I just do not care about them anymore, these pets are so far in my future that i can not drag up any kind of emotion for them one way or the other, so it's all become rather "meh" to me.

*lol*, and everyone thought it was a hoax.

I'm happy the Devs have finally officially acknowledged this information but we've been talking about the full details of this Vet Award on these and the UK forums for over a week now.
The info was even put up on Paragonwiki a week ago.
It's funny how the "early Vet award bug" forces the Devs to come clean on these things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lothic, you're not funny. People aren't stupid. They know what you're reffering to so save you're "haha I'm slick" winks. Why do you think Ex whacked the other thread?
All I can say is I love them. And I think the choices thematically are a lot better than the 36 month ones were. You can't somehow make a ball of light fit your story? Seems pretty general to me.

Because the Devs like to suppress information about things that are going to happen anyway?
I don't know, you tell me why Ex whacked that thread.
Maybe they are still embarrassed they haven't fixed the bug that let's people get Vet Awards MONTHS earlier than they should and decided to officially announce today what most people already knew about this one so they could save a little face here.
Beats me what the real reason is since I'm not a Dev...

I'm very happy about this reward!! I've been wanting the Wisp as a pet ever since I first saw one of them.
well I have one question, just how many players can get this reward or can get it in the next say 6 months, while it is nice. in a recent article , it was said that the average COx player only stays 17 months

Rabid Bunny 1 Person VG

All that tells us is that the average player only gets up to the 15 month Vet Award.
Average is exactly that: some play more, some play less.
A 48 month Vet Award is for someone who puts 48 months into this game.
There's no rule that says everyone has to get access the 48 month Vet Award.
I'll have mine on May 12th. *shrugs*

So far there has been no Dev word nor player test that implied these new vet pets would -not- work in the PVP zones or arena.
Then again with only 10 HPs and -75% Resistance the chances these pets will last more than about 2 seconds of any PvP engagement will be roughly 0%. And please be my guest wasting away a few seconds trying to recast them in combat too.

QFT - A single damage aura tick would make them meet their maker. Wouldnt be worth it in a PvP fight
I crashed a cadillac through the gates of hell and returned with a fistfull of dollars.
Not to mention that these things probably go too slow to be within buff range during a pvp fight, where (most of the time) everyone's jumping and running around everywhere.

With 10 hp they sound about as useful as the current pets that do nothing.

The Devs' paradigm has always been that Vet Powers would be "nice-to-haves" not "must haves".
So while 10 HP pets with minor buffs as the 48 month Vet Award are technically better than hologram, do-nothing pets as the 36 month Vet Award they are still within the realm of "non-significant" as they should be.

Thank you for taking my suggestion for the wisps over a year ago. Thanks! Appreciate you guys listening.
Please ban these in all pvp zones.
Thank you.

Yeah it's +1.75% End recovery not +1.75 End/sec.
It's like an extra set IO set bonus.
[/ QUOTE ]
So with eight blue wisps on a team, if the bonuses stack (and that is a very big if) that would be +14% End rec, and +20% DEFENCE.
WHOA.
Kind of puts the Leadership pool in the shade, don't you think!

Why? Just throw a Fireball or an AoE and they're toast. They're fragile and how many 48 monthers are in the various pvp ladders or zones at any given time? Can't be more than a dozen or so.
Woot more crazy buffs!

It also depends on if the buffs stack. If they don't than you will benefit your team for having one but multiple people with the same pet won't add more benefit other than maybe keeping the buff active longer since there's more pets to keep alive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again I'll reserve my belief that these buffs are team buffs until more testing by actual players is done.
