While everyone is entitled to have your own opinion, $10. bucks is cheap in my book, and for the record I happen to live on a fixed income because of a disability. So if the next argument is that your not rich, it won't hold any water with me. I only get $725. a month and yet I can manage to pay all my bills and still have money left over in my budget to pay for 3 accounts and this costume pack.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. $10 bucks is cheap. I spend more on that for coffee in 2 days. It also gets me a little over 3 gallons of gasoline. It also gets me a gallon of milk. It also gets me breakfast. It also gets me lunch. It also gets me dinner. See where I am going with this? I think the main issue is what that $10 is actually getting....

Wait...so is the wedding gift mission just a regular mission? No badge or special temp power or anything? That kinda sucks :/ And I thought last year we could repeat Ganmeades mission from him indefinitely...or is it under the ouroboros listing which I didn't check...?

What part of anything you just had to say was on the topic of the valentines pack and enjoying the nice new costumes and emotes? You just spewed "I love Wow!" ... nothing more.

[/ QUOTE ]

#1 : That whole post was was directed at the Valentine's pack...See that little "trinket" reference?
#2 : I don't play WoW, never have. Guess you also missed the "3 years" reference in my post above it too...
#3 : If you can get alot of mileage out of paying $10 bucks for a few wedding related costumes and emotes, more power to you, but I am not quite sure how you will unless you are proposing to alot of people, proposing to baddies, throwing alot of weddings, or throwing rice and flower petals at villians...Have fun with that.

And Powerhelm, I love your avatar, and your sig is dead on

Ah, I've changed my mind. I'd like this to become free content after all; but not for the reasons most people here are debating about, oh no.

Here are the quotes from the relevant parts of a long trail of messages I've been trading with NCSoft's Customer Support for all of yesterday and finished just this morning:

[ QUOTE ]
The NCstore displays the following message when I try to click a link to the Wedding Pack item recently released for City of Heroes:

"Unfortunately, this item is not available for sale to your region from the PlayNC Store. We suggest you inquire with a local retailer to make your purchase."

Is that working as intended or was it an oversight? I'm interested in purchasing it online, like I did for City of Heroes, City of Villains, Good vs. Evil Pack and the Guild Wars Platinum Edition. I never had any problems buying from the Store until now.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this item cannot be purchased from the PlayNC Store in your region. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Why is this item unavailable for online purchase in my region? I'm very much interested in knowing, seeing as it appears to be an entirely arbitrary limitation. Considering it'd be paid for with a verified international credit card, what is the reasoning for such?

Thank you for contacting the PlayNC Billing Support Team! Unfortunately, service restrictions prevent us from offering the Wedding Pack to certain regions. We cannot discuss the details of such limitations; we can only confirm that you will be unable to purchase this product. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may result from this issue.

[/ QUOTE ]

So you see, I want to purchase the Wedding Pack; I really do. But NCSoft, for reasons unknown, doesn't want my money.

If that's the case, then I hope they won't mind granting me access to the pieces for free, seeing how they're so fussy about me paying for it.

I'm a returning customer being denied access to a product they flaunt on their game client's updater, on the game's webpage and forums; with no apparent workaround available through their Customer Support. I'm not amused.

I can understand there not being a badge for the mission from the contact in Atlas/Mercy, or else every year they'd just have to bring the contact back or someway to get the badge (like they do for the Halloween/Winter badges now) to please the badge hunters who never got a chance to get them.

But I was expecting something after the mission. So the mission ended up being "fight Arachnos and read cute Clues" and I kinda worry alot of people won't even actually do it unless they already know to read them. I had collected 3 clues myself before it actually occured to me that what the gifts were might be mentioned in them.

Wow, $9.99 for a few costume parts? That's a bit steep. $4.99 I might spring for. I love the game and complain about very little, but considering there are not any temp powers or more than basically two costume options it's a bit pricy, IMHO.

And just to beat the trolls to the punch, yeah I know. I don't have to buy it. And at this price I probably won't. But I will give my opinion just the same, thank you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, if people do not express there opinion about how displeased they are with this "Wedding Pack" idea, how will NCSoft know not to do it again.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, they should never take the time to whip up something extra for you again.

Give me a break people, what we pay them is BARELY proportional to the work they put in .

There's no freakin' powers attached, no freakin' badges, no freakin' story arcs. This is PURELY an option they whipped up for the romantic roleplayers out there.

You don't like it, don't buy it and shut up.

This is probably why Statesman and whoever else left, a playerbase FILLED with spoiled brats.

Without sounding too negative... for $10, I'd want a bit more than a couple of specialized costumes and a hand full of emotes.

It's 106 miles to Grandville, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing faceless helmets

The whole "if you don't like it, don't buy it" argument is absolutely true, but it also brings up other issues.

This is exactly what we do not want to do.

[/ QUOTE ]

Define "we" partner. It's YOU, you do not want. Some few others do not want. Most of us are plenty fine with the idea of being able to selectively buy non-game-breaking items such as these for a reasonable cost.

I've paid for 2 server transfers, and have pondered some name changes - those are all 10 bucks apiece too. So?

Stop buying Starbucks for 3 days. There's your 10 bucks and change, easy. It's not the price and it's not the amount of stuff, you're just not hot on having it. That's fine. Don't buy it. We got the picture already.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am sorry, but I think you have it backwards. Most are NOT happy with the idea of spending additional monies for something we have been getting all along included in our current subscription fees.

I personally bought the DVD Collector's Edition of CoV the day of release. It came with a bunch of neat stuff. 7 Hero Clix, an Art Illustration Book, some custom in game items and a badge.
Cost the Day of Release $79.99

Then a business decision was made. One, which I think was a great business decision for Cryptic and NCSoft, fiscally speaking. To combine the CoH and CoV games in to one package. POOF!!! Good Vs. Evil Edition was Born. for $39.99 you could have not one of these fine games, but BOTH. What didn't upset me was the price. What did upset me truthfully was the fact that they added a Pocket D teleporter and a Jump Pack which my characters in-game didn't have and truthfully I wasn't happy about having to pay $9.99 on my accounts to get those either. I did it, but wasn't happy about it. Yes those ARE useful in-game items. Could I have done w/o the Pocket D VIP badge? Sure. I am not a huge badger. I do badge on my main, but he's in the high 300s and compared to the Steadfast badgers here (450+) I don't compare. If the GvE edition didn't offer anything in game that affected my game play and only offered the single costume and a badge I wouldn't have bought it, neither would most of the players and I am sure many others would agree, just as many in here are upset with the sheer cost of this add-on.

Regarding the content of this Pack.....
I have seen the majority of the pieces that came with this pack in game. Frankly, Jay normally does a great job with costume design in this game. In the case of this pack, I think he dropped the ball, though I am sure it wasn't his fault and that he was rushed to put something out for this event. Most of the costume pieces are texture overwrites. Several pieces are missing that should be there. Cumberbunds, Different styles of ties (String, Bow, Dress), A LONG Dress for those heroic women who actually don't have Malibu Barbi weddings. The dresses that came with the pack look like what should be worn UNDER the actual dress, a train that doesn't look like a cape attached to the head. Sorry Jay, while I am sure you will fix the current items in the pack, perhaps next time, if there is ever, though I hope that this is an isolated instance, that another pack is released and/or if NCSoft does turn this into a Mall game that the packs be 100% correct before they are released and are priced to give value to the community though quite frankly, I think this would be a BAD direction for NCSoft to go.

I still ask all to keep this discussion civil. Regardless of our position.

I agree with lots of people in this thread.... and while I only got the bridal set for one account, because its an absolute total waste of money to get it for any other account I do believe what people have the BIGGEST problem with is this...

$9.99 is over HALF of our monthly subscription cost.

WHERE is the rest of the expansion?

Costumes : Check
Matching Bridal Capes : ????
Diamond Ring "New Hand Accessory" : ????
Tiara that sits in the hair... not on the forhead : ????
Waist Cape Bridal Train : ????
Bridal Veil Over the face : ????

*My train on my wedding gown pretty much was a butt cape... it did not attach to my veil which just went over my face and attached to my tiara*

Emotes : Check
Mercy/Atlas Chapel : ????
Wedding Theme Music : ????
Just Married Temp Titles : ????

Im sure the male half of this expansion is lacking some stuff to.. butsince I never make male characters.. How would I ever know?

So, Back to an earlier idea.. We need a For her set, and a For Him set..

When asking us, Your loyal customers to shell out money for "REAL PAY EXPANSIONS" Give us the WHOLE EXPANSION.. Not just part of it..

Instead of throwing more fuel on the fire about the should-they-shouldn't-they wedding pack stuff, I offer this as an entertaining suggestion.

Make the entire wedding into an uber-huge story arc...

1) At least two missions sending you to all the different Tailors to find the right outfit (first in your size, and then in stock)
2) Stopping a jewelry store from being robbed (which just happens to be the one where the happy couple bought their rings, which are now stolen, oh no!)
3) Track down and beat the snot out of whoever stole the rings
4) Someone's abducted the officiant... go save that poor sap
5) The best man and/or maid of honor (also superheroes, probably Fusionette and Faultline) are stuck someplace, go bail them out so they can get to the wedding
6) The Carnival of Shadows has bought all the good shoes for women, so go stomp on 40 of them until you find a CoS chick with the right size feet and swipe her shoes
7) Go fight certain groups to collect certain types of salvage to invent 'the perfect wedding gift'
8) Timed mish to get to the wedding on time, with at least five groups out to stop you, and no travel powers work (because isn't that always the world works?)

The possibilities are endless...

I see a lot of complaints - about the marriage pack. Her'es the point you don't have to purchase it. However if you read the sexy Jay costume thread, you'll see multiple times where a suggestion has been made to have purchasable clothing options. If they do this once a year I have no issue with it and will more than likely purchase it. They aren't goingto stop adding free in game bonuses, they aren't asking us to go plunk down another 30 -to have further game content...all they said is if you want this option you can choose to pay and have it. I think the biggest thing we'll see is a large number of Zatanna rip-offs. If they do this and it sells enough will we see more of these expansions, probably so my guess is a much bigger expansion pack purchase option with halloween options. It's not the worse thing a company can do, and fortunatly it's not a requirement for additional game play.

Are you kidding me? OK wait just a min. We are Customers... If some of these people have been here since the very beginning the have spent well over $650 for this god dam game. That does not make them spoiled brats or any other BS you want to say. It makes them customers that expect something of value for their money... They have paid for a game that by any standard could just as easily been free to play and had about the same content with 3 expansions for far less of a cost to their users. But this was the model they chose for what its worth. They do not get to have it BOTH ways.

You can not in one breath disenfranchise the people that pays your bills and turn around and expect them to keep paying extra for content that should be free to them considering how much these games cost a user to maintain.

I have only been in the game 4 months true, so I only have $84.99 in, but I also stocked up on time cards for several months as well, so I actually have $129.99 in the game at the moment. that does NOT make me a spoiled brat, that makes me a god dam paying customer, so don't give me your bull garbage about being spoiled. I paid for this out the nose! And thus far the only thing of value in it I find? My friends that are also suckers and paying out the nose. If anything that does not make us spoiled, it makes us Stupid for doing business with a company that thinks so poorly of their paying customers.

Now Obviously I will not waste my money on such a poorly conceived and overpriced addon. and at least its only an optional thing. But if they start making this a regular event with equally irrelevant addon packs for similar prices... I don't think the paying user base will remain as loyal as they have been...

NOT buying the items will encourage them to rethink this poor strategy. That does not make us Spoiled! That makes us Smart consumers!!!

have the numbers been released on how many bought the pack? As it stands we have no idea if 'most', 'few', 'many', or 'no one' likes the idea or bought the pack. there are some people here who have bought the pack, some who refuse, and some very vocal people who claim many people think or believe something. we know that some people bought it and some people didn't but we wont know the success or failure of the pack untill they release the numbers.

Its my opinion and the opinion of the EULA that the 15 a month goes to getting access to the game and does not entitle me to anything else. The fact that NCsoft constantly updates, creates new content, and patches the game is fantastic and a good business move on their part. If the game becomes stagnant then people stop playing and paying. We technically only pay to play the game as is, we dont pay to get new content.

bottom line is that if you feel its a good deal then buy the pack, if you think its a rip off then don't. Its really just that simple. If this pack had some game altering effect then I would have some kind of problem with it, however its just fluff so who cares.

I'll agree with those who posted that $9.99 was a bit steep for this. Something along $5 would have been better, but I bought it for my main account anyway.

Considering the playerbase has received a huge amount of free content over the years, I don't mind shelling out another $10 once in a blue moon to help support the game and keep it going.

I really hope someone Demo Records this thing. My wife and I are working and will be unable to attend. It'd be....Super Cool... if some one could Demo this thing and post it to youtube.

Also, the wedding pack is friggen cool. The Rose petal emote is so neat with the Phys-x engin. Drop a bunch and run through them, or turn on fly and have a shower of them

So PLEASE if someone or multiple people will Demo this, you'd rock the heavens!

Personally, I like the wedding pack and don't mind paying for it. I think $5 is more in line with what I consider a fair price (about what I'll pay for a paperback book). I have always liked "special not exclusive" costume pieces, like the craftable pieces or, in this case, a "pack". I have also felt that time-based costume pieces, like the vet awards, are more exclusive than special; I view buying the wedding pack as putting my money where my mouth is.

I also feel buying packs makes it more reasonable for me to request hard-to-make parts, like long skirts, again by putting my money where my mouth is.

They're going to be recording it, however I've heard from someone who tried demoing the emotes and such earlier, that their system crashed. I think it'll be recorded with a different system, than just the ingame demo - the demorecord system is always a couple steps behind where it ought to be. But we *will* have recordings, we've been told

@ beaurocrat (...sp?) exactly. I have gotten the impression that more people than not, have bought and enjoy the pack. while several very vocal people on this thread assert that they're not going to - that's not a majority of what I've seen. We will have to wait - but frankly they're whining about having to pay extra for something extra. That's silly.

And @ the person with the troubles getting the pack: where do you live? How are you attempting to pay? Those things may be vital because there are likely places around the world which simply *block* any sales in or out of certain things, even if you've gotten them before, things might have changed. It might be your IP, your credit card company, their parent company, or any number of things along the line - most likely your credit card company. Since we don't know where you live and with what company you deal, I don't think this is a broad issue - definitely take it up personally with one of the admin here, they could help I think, at least to clarify whether they know something specific about your location/card company.

Erm... *holds up hand and bounces up and down* Hi, really, umm.. I love CoX and I even shelled out the ten bucks for the new costume pack (so I go a week without buying my morning tea.. oh wait, I'm home sick, so no big!) but this new mission... umm.. cute but that's it? No badge no more mishes (even though it looks like there could be a few more according to the contact bar) no nothing? Nada? Zip? Zilch?!?

Uhmmm.. so... what's the point??!?!?

Also.. question? What's the point of this guy? Or is that just a hiccup because of the wedding on Test this evening?

Inquiring minds would like to know! Thanks!

So I did the heroside "gift" mission in Atlas Park.

Warehouse map with Arachnos baddies. Seven glowies to click. Complete the mission and talk to the contact. Mission is complete and doable once only, annnnddddd....... that's it. No badge.

I'm confused. Another warehouse/glowie mission and that is it. They can come up with 10 bucks of costumes and emotes, but can't take an hour to design a badge? Whatever.
