Should I be upset the Devs 'wasted' effort on a AT I'll never play? I think it would be laughable for me to think that way.
Now don't get me wrong I happen to think there are problems with the way this particular Vet System was implemented. But I have no problem with having Vet Systems in MMOs in general.
[/ QUOTE ]
How does that example make any sense here. You have the option. I don't. Most people don't. I'm sure if COX gave us the option to purchase them it would help keep the game alive and increase the income of the COX franchise. Which in turn will keep this game alive.
Afterall veteran rewards don't mean much if this mmo gets canceled. -

You and Cambios need to get together and have mutant idiot hate babies. I'll pay for the hotel room.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry you feel that way. There is no hate coming from me. I just don't feel it's right. If ever 3 months a new set vet rewards are being introduced there is a majority of the population who will never have "all" of them.
And as people leave the game there will be less and less people who will have the latest vet rewards. Yet my subscription money is going to pay for the salaries of the developers who make them. You don't see that as unfair? -

Great another great thing my money has gone to develop that only less than 1% of the population get to use.
Thanks for nothing.

Actually, players who have been with the game for 48 months, have placed more money in the system then you have. By your own logic, they SHOULD get rewarded. The longer your put money in the cooler stuff you get. I don't get why people who played the game a short time think they should have access to the same rewards people whove been paying a fee for YEARS should get. Plus anyone who gets this reward has been a loyal COX customer since launch. That may be a small percentage, but its a very important and very loyal percentage. Considering the average MMORPG subscribers sticks around for only a year, four years is phenomenal. And yup I plan on playing for as long as the game is around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um...No. The fact is that w/o the current subscriber base this game wouldn't even be here. Why shouldn't I recieve whatever everyone else gets. You don't really think subscribtions fees from those who played since day 1 and never took a break is enough to keep this game profitable.
So enjoy your 48th month rewad..but just remember it's all of the current subscribers who helped you get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have an April 4th, 2004 reg date, youre getting the reward and pretty soon it looks like.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not the point. Veteran rewards are totally wrong to institute in any game. -

The devs hate everyone equally. Especially Tankers -
I'm so glad that top cow is doing the comic.
The current comic is very crappy IMHO. The artwork stinks and storyline is terrible.
Thank you so much for spending the dough on a better comic. =) -
How about attack of the giant cupids flying around on Valentines day.

I have to say that raising the bosses like this at 25 was nuts. A level 25 character is not prepared to deal with the raw power of these bosses. I had a same-level Tank swiper take my 29 SR Scrapper to 10% life in one shot with Fortitude running on him.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whther or not you have fortitude on you and are SR will have little effect on how much damage you take when you do get hit. Both SR and fortitude help significantly in not getting hit in the first place, but tneither gives any kind of damage reisstance for when you do.
Tank swipers always hit very, very hard. I remember going up against them with a /Invuln scrapper when I got into the early 20's and seeing about 2/3 of my health drop in a single hit. Now they're even more insane.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep was on mission with a Tank swiper the other day. He was 34 and I was 33 and he hit me for 1071 points of damage. Of course I only have 1014 hps..so I was really peeved.
Guess I'll have to take dullpain not to be gimp. As a regen scrapper I can say almost every death in the last 5 levels have been from bosses one shotting me.
I really didnt' wanna take dullpain......(cause I was a permaunstoppable tanker) I don't really wanna be hitting perma clicks all the time. I have hasten on auto and i don't wanna have to make sure DP is always on
Maybe I won't when Bosses get rolled back. -
One of my test builds on the test server has hover unslotted.
And I can barely move. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sounds like this player has invested in 4 powers - 3 of which he choose, and most of which he has probably slotted more than 6, and he still cannot fly. How much more of an investment did he make compared to your 1 power? How much did he have to give up compared to you and he still cannot go vertical.
No matter how you slice it, flying is ultimately safer than super speed, and offer an undeniable vertical advantage over super speed (or in this case, 4 other speed powers). If flyspeed had the same max as runspeed, why would anyone ever take superspeed?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. But really, is the ACC debuff really necessary on fly as well? -

There is also the issue of things like the respec trial, which was even before the change considered very difficult for the average group.
[/ QUOTE ]
Before the change, there was a success rate of just under 80%.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very true. But doing a respec trial with a 30 the other day. Made most of the mobs 33. And having 5 or 6 bosses in every group made things impossible for the group makeup.
Basically this will force everyone to do 4-6 person TF to keep the number of bosses and make the level range very slim. In other words, force everyone who wants in on the trial to be the same level.
This make actually finding a group to do the trial very hard for alot of players.
Did you check to see what the success percentage is since I3 came out btw? -

Yes, there are some bugs - that's inevitable. Typos, etc. A team gathers these from the forums, puts them in the database, and then we have at them.
But sometimes a bug isn't serious enough to hold up a release - that's when we decide to go live with something. We know that there might be some niggling details to address over the next few weeks.
As for the Invulnerability, Kheldian, Burn, etc. feedback - all of it was read and considered. We were pleased with the data we received and thought that the changes met our goals. That isn't to say that we might not tweak these things further - but by and large, we are happy with the changes.

Took you guys 1 day to read all those posts.
I cry "shenanigans" -

We have NOT announced ANY date for CoV.
Until you see it on our website, take any date with a grain of salt. Actually, a huge handful.
[/ QUOTE ]
What he said. There's nowhere for it to be pushed back -from-. Since COV is in many ways a Whole New Game, it takes a long while. If we were brighter, we'd have done another smaller content expansion to keep folks happy (and have a new box on the retail shelves) coming out maybe 6-9 months after last April's launch, but we're not that bright and we keep giving our content away for free.
We're discussing the possibility of doing some pay-fer content (i.e. an expansion pack) in addition to our usual big-[censored] free updates and COV, but we're hella busy as it is, so we'll see. The retailers would love us if we did, and we like happy retailers (and money) - but we don't want to cut back on the Free Stuff in any case.

And only one 4 posts here in the Dev section. Isn't the point of all this so that he could *Frequently* post here?
There are thread of 90 some odd pages...begging for a response from him.
And I don't think 114 post from him is all that frequently.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right... Maybe he should call you daily? Would that make you feel better?

Okay I concede. I'm wrong. My apologies. -

As lead designer, I like to post frequently on the boards and let the forum readers know what's going on.

Um. Not to rag on you but....you have hardly been posting at all in the last 3 months. Frequently would not be the word I use. -

Mission customization: Choosing between "regular" mobs and +2 level mobs is not really what I would call a customized mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sigh. That isn't at all what I meant. Mission Customization means, well, a mission has been customized. It's where we go back over old missions and add new art & functionality.
[/ QUOTE ]
Post like that you should have ignored. Most of us already know what you mean. The rest like to nitpick. -
I think your changes sound great. As a 25 Invul/energy tanker I'm happy to see it.
But wouldn't restoring provoke the way it was and getting rid of the resstance cap do about the same thing? Then scrappers couldn't have the same resistance because tanker resistances would be better. Or at least raise the cap to 95% instead of 90%.
Just a suggestion.
