sell them at WW/Black Market, you'd be surprised at some of the prices you can get from tier-2s and tier-3s

[/ QUOTE ]

Going to bet that the prices are WAY low at this point - why buy them for high prices if you can hit 20 doors and fill your own inventory?

I'm enjoying the new costumes and wanted to thank the various peoples for adding them. Kind of fun being a Skull smashing Malta Operatives for once.

I do want to echo something said earlier, for the Lost costume, it really should be the TV head.

Also, I'd really like to see more done with the Unseelie Court. Maybe next year, there can be a few missions with them involved, I hope. Maybe having them force us to pull pranks on some signature heroes/villains? I think that would be a lot of fun.

why do people forget there are still places to get insps during a TF? cause a lot of people don't plan ahead or think beyond their own two feet, but it's a great market if you do.

Spent about three or four hours in PI with my 50, teamed with one other person. I had two doors to go back and forth between, and my partner had another door. We occasionally had someone run through and click some doors for a sec, but no one stayed and camped.

I got two full trays of tier 3 insps which went into my base storage (Yay!), lots of good arcane salvage (no rares, but still good stuff), a few common IO recipes, 19 costumes (ghost pirate has a parrot. I wants a parrot!!! Please, Jay?) and two of the costume badges. The lag forced me to log off, but I'll be back. I also got two full sets of costume slot salvage, plus about 10 other pieces, which was a bigger haul than I ever got last year.

I love how the costumes that have jetpacks/flightpacks actually fire like they should when you fly. Very cool.

Eochai seemed to be spawning quite a bit in PI while I was there. Not sure if its intentional or not...might have been due to the heavy participation.

Just for a QoL suggestion: The city zones need to be decorated for Halloween. Jack o Lanterns on the porches....maybe some stuff in the windows.....cobwebs...stuff to make it seem like the holiday. The winter event has snow in some areas...why not Halloween too?

Hi everyone,

We'd really appreciate hearing from you about your trick or treating experience!

Right now, we are working on optimizing server configurations to help alleviate the lag you may have experienced running around opening doors and getting some goodies!

Also, we will be putting up a MOTD soon that lists which zones you can Trick or Treat in at what levels. Rule of thumb is that you can only trick or treat in zones where there are monsters you can fight and get experience from.

Let us know how you found the Halloween Event and Trick or Treating!

[/ QUOTE ]

I want better art for my new costume badges. Other then that, it's your same old boring Halloween event.

I'm also finding that the drop rates on large insps are too high. I started using reds and yellows to time the door, oddly I only got one restoration. I spent about 7 hours TOTing and didn't get a single Hami costume (tho I got about 4 pieces each of the other salvage) and no magic rares, but I thought invention salvage was a bonus.

I really like that the rock temporary power stacks - best change ever. The only other odd thing is that I often get three treats in one (power, salvage, and insp; or costume and 2 insps) - probably a little overkill on that one.

but why not one Arachnos costume?

How about where's the Super Arachnoid costume.

-Glad the ToT villains list as "mystical" so that the invention salvage drops are the more valuable ones like Hamidon goo, Pangean soil, Prophecy, etc. While door-farming isn't terribly dynamic, at this point, I'd rather do that than run X number of mystic villain missions in PI for the same drops (actually got two Prophecy drops in one hour last night just door hunting).

[/ QUOTE ]

This was not my experience at all (on Triumph) in 4-5 hours of ToT in PI (until the lag of over 135 heroes in zone started to cause my powers to fire a good 3-5 seconds after hitting them) and then in FBZ (where there were only 30 or so heroes)... not only did the door spawns drop exclusively tech salvage, I got tech enhancement drops also.

[ QUOTE ]
-Like the higher end inspirations as always.

[/ QUOTE ]

I do, too - but they seem oddly disporportionate - I frequently received 3 high end insps per treat. It appeared that I received 2 large insps with each npc costume temp power drop and at least one insp with each costume salvage drop.

[ QUOTE ]
-costume power drops are quick. I spent about 4 hours total yesterday in FBZ (PI was a nightmare) and got 30 of the 33 costumes and all 3 badges.

[/ QUOTE ]

I got about the same - 28 or more, and all the badges. I think this is a good thing, considering that they will only last for 2 weeks - this gives us a little bit of a chance to play with them some

On the downside:

LAG LAG LAG!!! Next year, we need more level 45-50 zones to ToT (once again, PI was HORRIBLE last night).

AND, count on an event to bring out the greedy, selfish worst in some players... Door thieving (i.e., superspeeding in to click a door I was clearly standing directly and closely in front of), spawn leaving, deliberate griefing ... only a few players that I encountered, but aggravating nonetheless. Shame on them...

And, I am with Catwhoorg and others who suggest tying in some storyline or missions with the event next time. I think event contacts placed in a few zones encompassing appropriate level ranges with a short arc would be fun (NOT missions like kill Snaptooth three times... ugh - enough with Snappy already... but real door missions).

I LOVE the npc costumes - and I'm actually quite mystified as to why they need to be so temporary... unless there is a technical/programmatic reason for them to not be around for long? Do they somehow add to the lag, perhaps? I mean, I could see if you could put on your Hellion Thug costume and go and hang with Hellions at your level or above without aggroing them, but ... it doesn't work like that, so - what's the big deal? Not a whine, just a question..

While I only have last night experience to go by, You might want to take a look at Inspirations. On 2 seperate toons I got predominately Reds, Blues and Greens. Very few Defense and Absolutely no Oranges. Isn't there supposed to be an equal chance for any insp?

When has trick or treating ever been hard? You dress up, you go door to door, and you get stuff. That's the way trick or treating works....

I'll put one of the benefits of the real-time expiration out there:

With the real-time expiration, people wear their costumes constantly since you know it's going to expire at a set time no matter how much you wear it now. It gives people an incentive to wear the costumes NOW, while they can. Almost everyone I saw was wearing a costume constantly, and it was a lot of fun. Feels very Halloween-y

With an in-game timer, people would probably horde and ration the temp powers, and you probably wouldn't have the same type of atmosphere. Then you'd have people throughout the year wearing the costumes, and it wouldn't feel as season appropriate or special.

Just something to consider.

If you have access to an autodoc, most of the tier-3s sell for 2,000 influence each. The tier-3 awakens sell for 10,000. My SG is rapidly filling our fourth inspiration box, while selling off the types we don't use much.

I'm not sure pumpkin-monsters, werewolves, zombies, or witches ever lunged out at me when I went trick-or-treating in real life, but that's why City of Awesome is better than reality.

I love the temporary costumes. I wish that recipes for them would be added to the game. Especially if scoring the final costume badge caused one to "memorize" the recipes, like with IO Enhancements. If that were implemented, I'd finally create that character who wears a powered-armor suit which I recently learned would look a lot like a PPD Hardsuit.

I've got no complaints about the Inspiration rates. It's fun to pop off one or two of those rare, top-tier Inspirations just to make room in my tray.

Had a good time last night but got the same odd salvage that always seems to happen where you can't quite complete a set. Killed tons of stuff got 64 level 3 inspirations into SG storage got all the costume badges (lots of fun there) but got 5 Brawler Gloves, 4 Hamidon Costumes and 10 Statesman masks. No Recluse mask! ARRG!

I seem to have trouble with one piece of salvage every year.

Got random lag at odd times that made no sense at all. 2 AM PDT there are 3 people in the zone and THEN I start getting lag? Certainly not because of the number of players. (On Victory)

You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.

The amount of griefing this year is aweful.
Yesterday I was cussed out twice by seperate people, while I was being nice.
Today on a different alt I have been grief killed by jerks running up to the door I am at and popping out there purple mobs and then getting insta killed.

This is not very fun.

On the other hand, I love the costumes and of course I love the badges.

Next year I wish to have the chance at getting a non stackable freespec from knocking on the doors as well as stackable free costume change tokens.

Thats my 2cents so far

Halloween continues to be my favorite event. I really love the costumes. I just wish we either had a progres bar, or at least be told when the costumes drop, even if duplicate, so we can count them.

Was excited to see I got a Hamidon Costume, and anxiously looked at my temp powers, only to realize it was the salvage, not temp power.

I'm sure I'm in the minority in this, but I'm glad the powers are on a limited number of days. Halloween is only during one part of the year, not year round. Makes it more special to play with them now, than to continually see them throughout the year.

Can't wait to see what you come up with next year! (Maybe a haunted house zone?)

Been pretty good so far. Had a few instances of folks knocking on a door and leaving their Tricks. I havent had too many problems with griefers, perhaps because FF and Bricks seem to be dead.

Loving the costumes too, there's something sastisfying about dressing up as a Freakshow stunner on a mission with Freakshow

Suggestion*

Make it so if someone doesnt kill their door spawn they get nothing from doors for 2 hours.

Posted

Better yet, make the door spawns simply 'go away' once the Player who spawns them leaves the area.

Posted

Have the door spawns chase them just like an ambush, the click and runners will eventually get hunted down by their mass spawn.

Posted

I like it, the rewards are fun.

BUT not very challenging for a level 50. 3 white minions die to fast and provide no challenge, so it gets boring fast. The only thing that keeps me going is the costumes.

1 make it an ambush spawn (if possible, this may lag the server to hell though)
2 make the spawn level/size depend on your mission diff setting.
3. make the spawn much larger if you are on a team. An 8 man team should crank out 2 bosses, 2 leius, and 6 minions (I think thats an 8 man spawn right?) per trick. If 2 or 3 people hit the door at the same time.. watch out! Death to follow.

We need more death in the streets! Think more Nightmare on elm street and not casper the friendly ghost.

But... my lower level characters are being courteous by leaving enemies for other players to kill! Those Halloween critters are worth badges, you know.

(If I kill too many critters in the lower levels, I'll outlevel some of my contacts.)

They should probably be an ambush spawn anyway, just to prevent them from hanging out at the doorway if the opener runs off. Have 'em give chase until the opener's ToT timer resets, then despawn.

I think that would be pretty harsh on stalkers, and possibly a lot of masterminds as well. Any ambush targeted on a character removes much of a stalker's fighting ability.

The event is fine.

People will complain for the sake of complaining, but it's fine.

You can get a variety of costume temps with little efforts and the spawns are fairly easy to manage.

Good work devs.
