The Warriors Villain Backgrounder

Come out and play!

The Warriors are a fierce street gang in Paragon City. They operate primarily out of the Talos Island and Striga Isle zones. Their membership is wide and varied, and they don’t seem to discriminate based on ethnicity, race, or religion. The one common trait that all members share is the ability to fight and to fight well.

Don’t miss the excellent selection of in-character testimonials and newsclippings from the Paragon Times freelancer corps on page 2!

Read the backgrounder here.

Cool pics. It seems to me with Dual Swords and Willpower coming up, this combo would be perfect for a new Warrior Mob.

I'd also love to finally fight Odysseus. Anyone else think Sexy Jay's new Roman costume set would be perfect for him?

I love the picture subtitles in the Top Secret section. It's really hilarious how they gradually get less impressive.

"Firelord reigns supreme!"

"Aztec disturbs"

"Naberus scares the bajesus"

"Zimm surrenders"

Well written as always. But did we really need a backgrounder for a group that hardly sees the light of day and always seems to be getting beat up by the Freakshow. C'mon give this group some love.

Heh - yeah, the Warriors never seem to be winning against their rivals (the Tsoo & Freakshow, primarily)...

Also, I thought Blade King Caesar was the Warriors' leader. I'll have to go through the old story arcs to double-check that. Maybe he's just a leader, and not the leader.

I hope as we get more weapon powersets (like Shields & Dual Blades), the Warriors might get an upgrade as well.

Agreed, Warriors could use a few good story arcs on both sides rather than just showing up in newspaper/scanner missions or as bit players in arcs focused on other groups.

The Warriors can be nasty for a squishy, but I have NEVER seen them actually winning a street fight. They're always the ones cowering on the ground before the big bad Freaks or the Tsoo.

Heck, I actually felt bad for them so my Illusion/Kin would actually use deceive to help them win some of those fights and be the last man standing for once.

As a history teacher, I would just point out that if the Warriors are, err, 'going Greek,' they most certainly would not really want someone named Caesar as their leader. Not real fans of the Romans, those Greeks. So he is probably a fraud...

Well normally I like the villain backgrounders but this one kind of left me flat. The Top Secret section was awefully weak and unlike so many other well crafted backgrounders does not give us any additional insight into the group. Take for example the Top Secret section of the Sky Raiders Backgrounder . Now there we got some good info.

The Warriors? Aren't they too busy getting their [Censored] kicked in by the Freakshow to have anything too "Top Secret"?

Heh!

@ "Kung Fro"...lol

Reminds me of when I was helpin a neighborhood mover get his business off the ground as a kid & he nick named me "Ram-Bro" cause I worked myself sick

The Warriors just seem kinda generic to me, especially now

/e shrug

The Hellions and Skulls already have the "Marvel 80's street gang motif" down pretty damn good...I always wondered why CoX needed a third gang of the same type...even though the Greek mythology spin might make 'em seem more original...just go to chicagogangs.com and you can see just as much mythology and history used by the oldest gangs here, but on the street half of em wear red or blue and black, and you can't tell the difference.

In Paragon City, if you wear a vest and have tattoos, it kinda...don't really matter what your "religion" is...you're a gang, lol

With all that said...no wonder somebody tried to breathe more "life" or plot into this villian group

Cool write up!

My character has a Greek magical origin (imbued with magical power by Zeus and friends), so it's cool to learn that there are some other similar villains in CoH.

Love the last photo in the Top Secret section.

It would take a lot of discipline in the ranks of the Warriors, but can you think of a better way to keep the Tsoo and Freakshow underestimating them than to deliberately take dives in the myriad of encounters with them on the streets? "They got away with the Necklace of Lyrion... but that was just dumb luck; last week we beat up a dozen groups of them around Talos."

Pretty good article.

I really love Platinum Thunder's screenshot at the very end.

those Hewer warriors, especially the Hewer Elites, can dish out some pretty mean damage.

Yes.

We need something. A TF, trial, zone dedicated to that group, whatever.

But they need something.

Much like a LOT of the CoV groups.

While a cool concept with a lot of room to be fleshed out, the gang it self is weak. They're really just trolls minus the huge rocks of squishy smashing pain. When a group I'm in gets a warrior mission I don't think for a second we're going to have any trouble with it. They could use fleshed out and buffed up.

Actually, since they all about the Greek stuff. Shouldn't they be worshipping Statesman?

How many of you actually FOUGHT the warriors, anyway, rather than laughed at them on your way to farming or power-leveling?

And after spending a solid five levels being whaled on by the Warrior Elites, I very much enjoy their subversion.

And is this the end of the Warrior Background Contest then? I really didnt see anything in the content that I didnt already know.
