Thanks, you too, Hero. Glad you like her. I haven't really decided on her story yet. I have two ideas tumbling around my head. In one she is a fallen angel and in the other she is someone paying the price for dabbling in withcraft without knowing what she was doing. I just haven't decided which one I prefer yet.

Thier tails kept getting caught in the bases' sliding doors so they stopped recruiting them rather than spending money on re-designing the doors.

Excellent! I've always enjoyed your Faces of the City stories.

Quote:The story can be about anything the writer wants, even a fanfiction story. There is nothing in the rules saying it can't be a fanfic. It's just that people can't expect to score points with a story naming a bunch of npcs or area names, like Perez Park.Just to re-iterate Eveningstar2's post, please read the instructions for the contest carefully.
This is NOT a CoX fanfiction contest. The vast majority of the people who have responded to this thread thus far have completely misread the contest instructions and intent.
So I'll repeat this: THIS IS NOT A CoX FANFICTION CONTEST.
The point of the contest is to re-use CoX terms, such as character names, as the real words they actually came from in a story that can be about anything. Bullet point that spells this out:
Thus a story about how the nervous system works that uses SYNAPSE and NEURON as words in the story would fit the contest (As boring as that story might be...I'm certain others will be far more creative).
TL;DR: Reading comprehension is important, and is lacking in this thread. -
I'll toss one of each into the ring.
First up, my pistol packing Praetorian cyborg, Jacketed.
Next is my swashbuckling hero and protector of Indy Port, Piratical.
And a villain to complete the set. He's a necro/TA MM, Necro Hood.
Yes, he did name his pets twisted undead versions of Robin Hood character names.

Hate to admit it, but I got caught up watching a football game and forgot about it this time around. OOPSIE!

I don't really think I have any strengths, if I do they are overshadowed by my nimber 1 glaring weakness, communication. I've always been lousy at typing. No matter how many years I've been plugging away in games and message boards, I never seem to make much, if any, real improvement. This leads to slow responses from me as I attempt to put together a response with as few typos as possible, but I type so slowly that many people lose interest and go to find others they can carry on a decent conversation with. That's why my characters tend to be quiet wallflower types in social situations, and I do like gatherings and special events even though my poor typing ability keeps me from participating as much as I'd like.

I keep getting error messages from the hero files concerning missing fonts and the files being damaged by disc errors. But it's my understanding from reading this thread that as long as I can get a file with the three pic layers filled and saved I can send it in without having to deal with the font issue by doing anything with the title layer. Is this correct or will not adding the zone name hurt my chances, even if the proper font is missing?

Don't get discouraged by a lack of comments, speaking for myself, just because I don't always say something doesn't mean I'm not enjoying them. I think I've got it figured out. Mrwrk has gone rogue and is using the magic book from part 5 to turn everybody into tuna.

I like these kind of threads. Here are some of mine, might add some more later.
This is my dark/dark scrapper named after my forum handle. He is actually a re-make of the very first character I made in CoH.
Clobbertime.
Theme song.
This is my dual blades scrapper. His father is a pirate and his mother is a ninja. The reason for that is often during 'Talk like a Pirate Day' a thread about which is better often gets started, so he is my answer to that.
Piratical
theme song
When they introduced the pain powerset I asked myself what type of character would best serve as a healer type villainside? My answer was a nurse from hell...literally.
Nurse Frightengale
theme song
The villain I created second and have much fun playing is a fallen angel. I've gotten a few compliments on his bio in game, which always makes me feel good.
Deacon Doom
theme song
My first villain was so much fun to play I got him to level 50 before any of my heroes in spite of playing since launch. He is likely going to be my first character to go rogue as well, but not all the way to hero.
Bishop of Battle

A dark/dark, dark/SR, or dark/regen scrapper.

Starrhawk is my nrg/nrg blaster and was heavily inspired by Silver Surfer and Captain Marvel (not the shazam one). I was really happy when they finally added power customization so I could make his blasts bluish white to look more like the Power Cosmic.

I seem to recall in some of thier older interviews with various gaming sites that there was some talk of doing a game dealing with spies and espionage.
If there is a CoH 2 then I wouldn't expect a character port, the game would likely be too different for the character to work with it. It would be nice if they came up with a way to let current players reserve a certain amount a names of current characters. I played EQ for 5 years and was excited about the prospect of EQ2. We were even told before it's launch that while we would not be able to port any characters that an EQ2 character could be played as a descendant of an EQ1 character and we would be able to have 1 item passed to the EQ2 character as an heirloom, but they backed out of that, which really cheesed off a lot of people, myself included. It also didn't help that EQ2, while looking gorgeus, was such a crashing bore to play that I never made it past the free month.
I've also heard a lot of talk about how many people would like a serverless environment. It may sound well and good, but STO has that and it gets complained about quite a bit because of all the instancing. My main gripe with it is I've been playing STO since open beta and there is just no sense of community that I can detect at all like we have with the servers in CoH. If there is a CoH2 I hope they keep individual servers and not do like STO did. The community on each server is a strong part of what keeps CoH alive and well. As I've seen in STO going serverless prevents those communities from forming. -
I can remember when this was just a neighborhood of heroes. Only just found this thread, will try to make the next one.

I don't know how many of my fellow Virtuites ever watch any Nascar racing or know about the contest Toyota is running that lets you design your own car, but that doesn't really matter. What does matter is that one of my cars is based on my main hero, Panda Monium, a kat/inv scrapper I've had since the first week of launch. I'm hoping you'll check it out, and if you like it, maybe drop a vote for it. I didn't use any screenshots on it since they are considered property of NCSoft, but the Teddypanda on the hood is an avatar I used here a long time ago. Wow! This has to be the most self serving thread I've ever posted. You can even drive the car around in the 3d preview mode.

I've been begging for sleek mask options for years and with the recent sleek hand and foot additions, sleek mask options are the only part missing to be able to make a complete sleek costume set. To stay true to the OP, I do seem to recall a minor uproar on losing the old jackets in favor of the current style. I had no characters using jackets at the time so I don't have any screens of the old style jackets, but I do remember many people asking for them back after the change.

Would it be possible to at least make the parts that pass for skin use the skin color set so people that don't use the complete set can have it match up with whatever other parts, like a different face, they use that show skin?

After seeing the pic of the swords held by the DB character David posted I thought they would be a nice fit for my DB brute, so I decided to re-create him on test to see how he would look with them. I discovered two things while attempting to. The swords are apparently one of the options not yet available since they were not listed, and the barbed wire options from the shoulders are no longer available. My brute on live uses barbed wire on the shoulders and if I had copied the character over instead of trying to recreate him I would not have noticed that it has been removed. I hope it's just an unfortunate accident that will be fixed and not a decision to remove them. I thought the lesson of adding more stuff is good and taking away stuff is bad was learned years ago.
I do have some subjective feedback on the wings. The boney framework is too big while the membrane is too small.
I also agree with others, the skin parts do not color match well with the actual skin colors since it uses the costume colors instead of the skin colors. It's really noticeable with faces and when trying to use skin parts mixed with the mutant parts instead of using the whole set.
It would also be nice if the eyes from the organic face could be made a different color than the growths along the back and sides of the head. -
This is a nice little thread of people showing off thier creativity and others commenting about them. Can we please keep it that way and not derail it with arguments about what is and isn't porn? If you just have to bash each other over the head with your opinions on that unrelated subject then please either take it to pms or start your own porn debate thread and let this one get back on track.

They need to replace it with a new server and dump the hunk of junk we've been stuck with. Seems like even when the game was new that Virtue was always going down while the others were still up.

A few years back I was reading through one of the pirates-vs-ninjas threads that tend to pop up whenever Talk like a Pirate day rolls around when it occured to me that a character that was both would be better than either of them. So I made a scrapper whose father was a pirate and his mother was a ninja assassin that was hired to kill him, but in a love at first sight moment, fell for him instead. He was born and raised on his father's ship back in the mid 1600s. When he was 12 they were stalking a merchant convoy near Bermuda when the ship was overtaken by a sudden, freak squall. When the storm had passed he and his parents were the only three people still aboard the ship. His father had often heard about the strange occurances that haunt those waters but had never believed them until they made thier way to the Florida coast and discovered they were no longer when they were.
Being superstitious folk and quite spooked by thier time travelling ordeal, the family made thier way north along the coast, settling in the Paragon City area where they felt that among such an unusual collection of beings they would have little trouble blending in. His parents gave up thier villainous ways, having taken thier situatuion as a sign to begin thier lives anew, and raised thier son to be an honest man. His father taught him the ways of swordplay, strategy, and cunning while from his mother he learned the ways of agility, speed, and deception. Now a young man, he has chosen to don a costume and fight in the name of justice and honor. While his life has diverged greatly from it's original path of bloodthirsty villainy he has never lost his love of the sea and feels a kinship with those that derive a living from it's waves. He has taken it upon himself to watch over and protect the city's waterfront areas and, when in need of earning a living of his own, hires himself out as security aboard freighters that must pass near to the Rogue Isles.
That, in a nutshell, is the story of my DB/SR scrapper, Piratical.
Art by Bakart. -
Thanks everybody. He really did great with it. I like the way the shadowy figures frame the character, and Lusca pulling down the loading crane in the background was an unexpected and nice surprise. I happened to mention a giant octopus while describing Paragon's waterfront areas for the background, never expected to see it show up, though. The piece actually looks like a typical day in Independence Port.
And thanks for costume compliment, Kheldarn. I tend to spend a lot of time in the creator trying to make my costumes reflect the characters, good to hear some kind words thrown my way.

What a day! I get off work early and what do I find waiting for me when I get home? My commissioned art from Bakart waiting for me in all it's glory!
This is my DB/SR scrapper, Piratical.

Yay! I got one too! This is my dark/pain corr, Nurse Frightengale. A word to the wise, if you ever find yourself as one of her patients, no matter what she says, do NOT turn your head and cough!
