PERC Presents: "Term" Me a Story- Virtue
"His Health Bar was almost empty, but fortunately he still had with him a couple of Tier Three Reds and Purples. This would be how GenericHero1038932 was to become a living legend. Popping his Insp's he charged the AV, Untouchable for only a few seconds but that was all he needed to cut down the MOB's last sliver of Green Bar. He had taken his Team from Party Wipe to Victory and they all got the Badge anyway. PUG'ing happily ever after.

The End"
I'll take my 200mil now thanks.
The tall tale of Bad Ges:
A coldblooded iron warrior walks the earth. Entrusted with the secret, Hell hath no fury for the handsome man as frozen fury sought to meltdown this superstar. Ghost touched vigilantes obligated to pwnz any trigger man, any villain disruptor, any instigator, and most definitely any Man in Black, burning the midnight oil and riding their ostentatious horses, shall be dauntless homewreckers until they find the agent of discord.
This brave risk taker, once a couch potato, is a believer he saved the world from slag reapers when the master of arms accelerated the warhead that was under fire by the pumpkin king. The general shared victory with his battery powered air pirates...
...Sadly, the repairman awoke from the siren's song known as sleep, cursing his oppressors for declining his pay raise. That night, somewhere in time, the repairman took his life. He drove an 18-wheel trucker like a speed demon into the ocean to sink like a drowned rat. But, destined for Valhalla, the unbroken spirit lived on.
To this day,
The faithful say,
The repairman has his calibrator.
And on stone cold nights,
Filled with temporal strife,
Asunder tears the glitch exterminator.
I have to say that it's been a long time since I've seen any kind of story stuff here and a competition may just get the ol' creative juices going here again. It really hasn't been that long, but I do remember when character backstories were the norm not oddball out. So let's see them, let's see stories about the game we love to play. :-)
Good luck to you all!
There will always be people who do not like what PERC does for the community. Those people shouldn't even bother reading the PERC threads! However, there will always be people who do like what PERC does for the community and who enjoy the different challenges they offer.
As for the writing contest, I think it is a fantastic idea! The few times I have seen PERC (Madame Pistachio) hosts them, I have read some pretty darn good stories! We have our artists that do some awesome work and contests that we get to see in the FanArt/ScreenShot section of the boards, so it is nice to see our writers challenged as well!
G' luck to the participants! And for those who don't like this contest, just don't come back to the thread and let everyone else enjoy the stories.

I appreciate everyone's opinions on this event both positive and negative. The purpose for using the terms is to put a twist on a story telling contest. PERC has already hosted a biography and story contest previously, so this is a new style of writing contest and one that will make you think. It will also be interesting to see how you can use normal City of Heroes/Villains terms and references in different ways.
I hope that those who participate and read will enjoy themselves.

In all honesty, the people who wish to give away inf can choose any way they want to do it, whether it seems fair/useful/winnable/silly/weird/cool/inventive/cliche/pointless to anyone else. If not a whole lot of people enter, well, you know, whoever does has that much more chance of winning and no one exactly loses out, so.....
Just to re-iterate Eveningstar2's post, please read the instructions for the contest carefully.
This is NOT a CoX fanfiction contest. The vast majority of the people who have responded to this thread thus far have completely misread the contest instructions and intent.
So I'll repeat this: THIS IS NOT A CoX FANFICTION CONTEST.
The point of the contest is to re-use CoX terms, such as character names, as the real words they actually came from in a story that can be about anything. Bullet point that spells this out:
Proper names may not be used unless they are being used as a noun and not a name. For example, "SYNAPSE and NEURON fought against each other" would NOT be allowed, but "In the nervous system, a SYNAPSE is a structure that permits a NEURON to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another cell" would be allowed. |
TL;DR: Reading comprehension is important, and is lacking in this thread.

Took me about 5 minutes and I'm not expecting anything but I had fun with it
I think a lot of you are missing the point entirely, to have fun.
Disrupting a competition because you don't like the subject or rules is non productive and therefore a violation of the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines #5. If you don't like an aspect of the contest please contact the organizer privately or express yourself in a very constructive manner.
For example "I don't feel like this is the best contest it could be because it requires typing and I would much rather record myself telling the story"
or
"A contest about Blue Steel seems less interesting to me than a contest about The Vindicators, would it be possible to broaden the rules slightly?"
Is much better than
"This contest sucks and Madame P is a poopy head"
Which makes me moderate threads.
Thanks,
-Mod8-
If you are using Latin in your post you are probably trolling

Bullet point that spells this out: Thus a story about how the nervous system works that uses SYNAPSE and NEURON as words in the story would fit the contest (As boring as that story might be...I'm certain others will be far more creative). Just a remember, you have a little less than 3 weeks left for this competition! Looking forward to reading some great stories!
