The Warriors Villain Backgrounder

Considering what the devs have been doing lately with sneaking stuff into newspaper missions, I'd have liked to see a reference to the movie... if not in a mission (with the Warriors fighting spawns of all the other gangs who blame them), then as a historical note here.

The Warriors can be nasty for a squishy, but I have NEVER seen them actually winning a street fight. They're always the ones cowering on the ground before the big bad Freaks or the Tsoo.

Heck, I actually felt bad for them so my Illusion/Kin would actually use deceive to help them win some of those fights and be the last man standing for once.

Actually if you patrol Talos enough you will occaisionally see a Warrior beating up on a CoT mage.

Oh and going by the Top Cow comic Odysseus is definitely the gang's leader.

Arent they badguys in Paragon City? Why would I want to join those bunch of mere street thugs? They get their butts handed to them on a regular basis. Warriors indeed. Warchief would be shamed to call them Warriors.

I had absolutely no expectation that my character's story would get in, but why is it that there's not even a single veiled reference to "jerk hacking" or "duping rares"? It is my opinion that UniqueDragon has been shafted...again.

what other villian groups still have to have backgrounders written?

I can think of Croatoa villians, shadow shard, and a re-vamp of the rikti.

Nice backgrounder, Arctic. Now, can you get the zone designers to change Talos so that the Warriors are winning at least a few of their confrontations? If we go strictly by what we see on the streets, the Warriors are a bunch of pansies and it's the Freaks and Tsoo that own Talos Island.

Hi guys,

Glad many of you liked it. As for the testimonials - there were something like 80-100 to read over! We tried to boil it down to the ones that worked best. Congrats to those who made it in ... and we'll see if we can do it again, eh?

Oh, and I'll mention to War Witch that she really needs to update the group a bit.

cheers,
JS

If you think that's bad, just wait til you do the Circle of Thorns

What, no mention of one of the Warriors' most illustrious leaders, King Mace? I don't know who thought that was a good boss name, but it's right up there with Manhandle and Clang Clang Clang.

Yeah, I totally want to see this in Talos Island.

"THIS... IS... NEW SPARTA!"

As for their competition, I'm not saying the Warriors shouldn't be on the losing end sometimes; just that, they hardly seem like a major player, when they always seem to be getting beat-up by someone.

I'd like to see more in-game to emphasize the Family-Trolls-Skulls and Warriors-Outcasts-Hellions links.

Is it just me, or does the backgrounder completely neglect to mention their frequent territorial clashes with the 5th over Striga?

Bit of a gap there...

I enjoyed the backgrounder and would also love to see more about the street gangs of Paragon City in general. It seems like there's a lot of material to be mined there. I gather there is a loose coalition of gangs more allied with Arachnos and the Tsoo and then the gangs that have closer ties to the Family/CoT/Council and that the latter group includes the Warriors and the Hellions. Anyway I think it would be really cool to have more info in one place on how the various factions actually relate to each other.

Was wondering that myself, seems to be he made that using demorecord, as I have never heard of mobs colliding with each other, or dropping their weapons before. Although, maybe for weapon dropping you just need a physX card or something.

I was excited to see my picture make it. Wasn't really spectacular, but it was fun trying to get the right angle. It's hard doing that on a Stalker...

You never see too much of them besides Talos. I never have anyways.

And they so closely resemble the other gangs in the game, I never give them a second thought when I run into them in missions.

Nice to see even a page on them. Didn't know about their Greek background.

Meaning no offense to the creator of the Warriors, it's hard to square a Warrior cringing before a Freak group and begging them to take his money and go with the ruff-tuff hardball-playing street gang they're supposed to be.

Heck, I might argue that it's the Freaks themselves that are the most powerful street gang in Paragon city, not the Warriors.

When I saw the link 'Discuss it here, Boppers" I could hear Lynn Thigpens voice and see her in my mind talking into the DJ mike. I wish the Warriors were more like the movie, but I guess there are copyrights to consider....
