Once again they've announced something with sketchy details.

That's because there aren't any actual details to announce. This is just like NC announcing they are going to start developing online games for consoles. It is nothing more than an informative press release of sorts. NC has decided to give us players advanced notice that they have teamed up with Vivox and will be providing voice chat services in the semi-near future as well as potentially bringing some other features. It is in the planning stages right now, quite possibly with nothing at all determined in terms of details. If they don't have details, how can they provide them for you? It is just an announcement of a new partnership, that is all.

The launcher is a separate program that opens a window to gives you access to all NC soft games on your system (CoH/CoV, CoH/CoV eu, Auto Assault....wait, what?). Kind of like a highlight that program and launch. The window would also have update information along side your applicable programs.

The only place I've ever been able to find the Launcher by itself was here: ftp://ftp.dungeonrunners.com/ It typically installs with games that require it such as Dungeon Runners, Tabula Rasa and Exteel but it is very hard to find just the launcher itself. That link does provide you with just the PlayNC Launcher executable installer though.

    Ahhhhh...that thing.

I had it while I was in Tabula Rasa beta, but when I un-installed that, I lost the launcher also.

If we want the launcher, where do we go to get it?

  3. Voice chat is quickly becoming a requirement for any MMO. It is just far too convenient to just talk rather than typing everything out. It is just a fact of life we'll have to accept. The days of being able to type out instructions over ooc chat like we did when raiding Fear and Hate in Everquest are long gone. It is just nice to see PlayNC also capitalizing on integrated voice chat for their launcher.

Some SGs were created in Beta or on the boards before the game was released. Heck, my SG has been around since 2001 (at least) in various other games...

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case here.

My guild has been around since 1998, that's more than likely the case here as well. A larger number of guilds are going to a multi-game format which allows them to outlast any given MMO.
  5. I was excited to see my picture make it. Wasn't really spectacular, but it was fun trying to get the right angle. It's hard doing that on a Stalker...
  6. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing. Thanks Zloth, I'll just deal with it looking like my enemies are blind. I do love your app though. Makes it so much easier to get what I need for videos with all the pretty little effects.
  7. That's what I thought as well when I loaded the demorecord from your application, but I was still quite visible when running around the recorded mission. I can convert it to a compressed format if you want to see what it looks like.
  8. I really like your Demo Launcher app Zloth, it shows my claws when I attack and makes it easy to remove the hovering text. However...I am a Stalker and nothing I do actually activates the stealth effect from Hide. Is there something I'm missing or do I just have to deal with being visible when I come up on mobs. It looks kind of silly.
  9. That's not really fair to Villains though. I have to find someone nice enough to let me run a newspaper mission out of Sharkhead or try and find a spot in Siren's Call that will give me the time I need to set up for the screenshot.
