Discussion: Coming Issue 10 Announced

I'd normally agree, however they new powersets have been in development for much longer than the recent Polls. Remember, the polls only asked about Scrappers. Not the other ATs. Also, when CoV came out, when Cryptic was planning on another paid expansion, they were planning to have a new primary and secondary powerset for every AT. However, when they cancelled the expansion, they said they would include what they had planned for it over the coming issues. In the PM I received, it was mentioned that they were evaluating the suggestions partially based on which powersets would be easiest to do graphically. The poll almost felt like they were looking for suggestions when their original ideas for new Scrapper powersets didn't pan out. However, they still want to get new ones out to the rest of us with all the others. I'm keeping my hopes up that we'll see new ones in I11.

My hope is that Issue 10 will go live on July 4th.

I have a great speech I want to give in Broadcast on that day.

*Rolls eyes*

I'm sure you can give that speech, regardless of when i10 comes out. Considering that, unlike the Father's Day weekend, July 4 is an American national holidy, I sincerely doubt that Indie Day'll be when i10 comes out.

I'm well aware that the movie bussiness loves to put their opening weekends on holidays these days, but they don't have to worry as much because of the work is done and they don't have to worry about going back to the drawing board if the movie flops.

Regardless of how things get ironed out for i10, there's always bound to be tons of petitions for GMs to deal with that comes with each Issue release.

I'm thinking it'd be at least the week after July 4th for i10 Open Beta.

Yeah, Powersets will most likely be I11. I sent in a question/suggestion regarding the recent Powerset Polls, and got an answer back that I, and the game community, would be very happy with what they're currently working on/finalizing for I11 in regards to powersets.

Here's hoping.

I hope so too. *sigh*

I want a Cuteness powerset!!! ^_^; lol You guys probably think I'm joking too! lol

This reminds me a lot of beta, the initial Rikti Invasion... I am looking forward to I10... They have always released impressive updates - I'm sure they won't fail us. Granted, at first, I was like 'but that's like beta... that's not original!'... But I'm sure they've got plenty up their sleeves.

Well, Open Beta starts TODAY... : ) So release to live in July is likely, but the 4th would be a bit soon probably...

It actually started yesterday, but yeah. We won't see it by next week, but unless anything major pops up, it'll be out in July sometime. July 28th is the first possible date for the 39th month Veteran Reward, which is included in the code for i10, so I would imagine they're going to do everything they can to get it out absolutely no later than that.

There's at least one big patch to test coming. That may be as early as tomorrow, so it's up over the weekend. If that's mostly clean, there's no real reason it couldn't go live in the first or second week of July. They have had a lot of good bug reports on the stuff that's broken, they've had a goodly amount of time to code the changes, I think it's going to be soon. Remember, the wouldn't have opened the beta if they thought there were a lot of things they wanted to fix. Open beta is for load testing what they're almost ready to push.

[/ QUOTE ]I seriously dobut they are going to patch lvie on July 4th week, since that's a national holiday in the states, and most likely the devs will get a long weekend for it. I would expect it the week after at the earliest.

Well another good reminder of if a patch is going live or not, is the pre download. Since live I ahven't gotten a pre download yet, we are still a week away, at best, from i10 going live.

I still think it's doubtful to be next week, if for no other reason than the holiday. Still, i10 is MUCH closer to being "ready for prime time" than i9 was when they opened its beta, so who knows? I'm thinking 2nd week of July, as long as no big problems come up from the next big patch.

Heh, just got a Pre-download, so... its getting close. This patch is on the 'fast track.' Hope that's a good thing...

This post isn't about the content of i10 so much as the spirit of it. Playing CoH I've always felt somewhat detached from our 'signature' heroes. Sure they call us when they need a Task Force done but other than that they are hardly inspiring IMHO. Heck, from what I've read in the comics and novels I find them (especially Statesman) to be rather rude, dysfunctional, and arrogant. Then I played the i10 content on test, and suddenly I felt like I was a part of something. Vanguard WANTED me as a member. I even get their nifty uniforms if I put in the time in the war zone. The best I got from the Freedom Phalanx was the 'honor' of being a reserve member. And none of them even award you that badge, it sorta just happens. But Vanguard is out there fighting the fight, walking the walk, not just sending me to get 30 of this villain group, or deliver this toaster to so and so. I feel like I AM a member of Vanguard. So if I had to choose between standing with the Freedom Phalanx or the Vanguard, easy choice, I'll be a Vanguardian. Like I said, nothing real major here, just a rant. So bash away at me if you will, that's fine. I got Rikti to go pound on so see ya when we go live. Long Live The Vanguard.

Anyone know when Issue10 is coming out?

It seems like they must teach in game design university courses to always release game versions at the 80% ready point (or whenever marketing drone Ouija board results are favorable), and to let the customer base shake out the rest of the bugs live on their nickel.

That's fine by me. Maybe I'll finally get Bug Hunter!

Wow...!

I think this is about the shortest time from Issue announcement to release I have seen since CoH started.

Way to go, Devs! Good job!

Now just get rid of Travel Power Suppression and you're on your way to being real game designers.

But, sincerely, kudos on the rapid release of Issue 10.
