My villain who is bent on the same things would stop to counteract someone (Rikti) who looked like they might accomplish his goals first.

Nah, I'd have to disagree with that. That's an expression of personal preference; the concept may be distasteful to some, but that hardly makes it "lame".
Now, if the TFs in the new co-op zone can ONLY be accomplished by combined hero/villain teams, then that IS a Bad Thing, because anything that dictates tactics or in any way forces players to achieve a goal by a particular "keycode" is, by definition, "bad". Not just "lame" (although it s that, too), but actually Bee-Ay-Dee, BAD.
That's why PvP is such an empty bag; characters built for optimal PvE are useless in PvP and, very often, vice versa; when optimal build solutions are available, then the build becomes the game, which is nothing more than Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon and folks, THAT is as lame as lame gets.
But as long as the team-ups are voluntary, it's a great idea.
I have maintained since CoV Beta that all ATs should be available to everyone, and that our choice of contacts, mission paths and story arcs should determine our status as "Heroes" or "Villains". Now I finally have a "good" reason to get my few villains to Level 35, so they can team with my hero buddies.
However, I am 100% behind you korgat in my belief that we should be abe to pursue a goal of coquering/destroying the planet. I'd be satisfied with just being able to carve my name in the moon with a giant space laser... I'd even be satisfied with an orbital platform for my villain/hero base... or a facility as nice as the Sky Raiders have... or one of those cargo ships in the harbors... I would be happy to settle for a Blimp!
Heck, who am I kidding? I'd be over-the-moon if they just let us have an actual street address for our SG bases instead of making us enter them by jumping down a rat hole...

That is exactly what non-PvPer's are saying about PvP.
By nature, PvP'ers are attacking anything in a PvP zone that moves, ergo, that action is a forcement on other non PvP player who HAVE to go to the zone to get badges and what-not, thanks to the devs. Now, yes, not all of them do this. Some ask first which I respect.
This is why I'm for a so-called forced co-op between heroes and villians in "One" zone.
As the more stalwart and less respectful PvP'er would say, "The zone was made for THAT reason, don't like it, then leave."
Is it just me or only "Fan Boy" Types excited over the i10 expansion? The Ritki have an ENTIRE Zone already dedicated to them, is not i10 just beating the same horse? Or am i Mistaken? Do not mistake me for a flamer. I LOVE City. I love the last expansion was clever & gave the game a much need breath of digital life, but players are looking for new, exciting contect to keep the Game fresh versus grinding through the same foe in a different way kinda thing.

They have an entire zone that nobody uses...ever. Unless they're doing a high level hero respec.
It seems to be worth it to upgrade the zones nobody really uses and make them cooler, thereby allowing more choices. And the Rikti are fairly central to the games storyline...a lot of players are happy (myself included) that they're actually taking center stage for a while.
I agree with Dasher. If the content in the new RWZ is something that can be done WITHOUT FORCING villains and heroes to team up (this includes the high level TF), then this is something to look forward to. If it's going to be forced then yeah, there will be some folks that won't do this at all, and I wouldn't blame them.
I can see the Devs making the TF forced co-op, but I hope they don't.
So I will ask the Devs this...
Leave it so that it just takes a team of 8 to do the new Rikti TF and recruiting someone from the opposing side is OPTIONAL and we're all good. Making it mandatory for there to be mixed teams may cause problems.
Not with the AT's themselves, I think there will be some awesome combinations between both sides, but maybe with the players themselves. This is a game that has a significant amount of roleplayers and I can see some of them having problems teaming with the opposite side, from a roleplaying stance.
More options are always better, so don't restrict options when it comes to something as big as this.
And on a side note, Villains will finally get to enter a hazard zone, something quite a few people have mentioned they've wanted to do for a long time.
Solo Brutes and Masterminds running around obliterating large numbers of NPC's.
Small teams of Corrs/Doms/MMs and Brutes doing the same thing.
Stalkers not being able to do much at all.
Bring on i10 I say.

If you've ever read any of the large number of posts wherein I am highly critical of a number of decisions the devs have made you'll quickly come to the conclusion that I am not a dev "fan boy."
And I am excited about Issue 10.

If the devs are serious about retaining players at least making things even would be a start. Yeah, the moment I perceive anyone as "less respectful", whether they are PvE'ers or PvP'ers, that's when I stop listening.
I'm not advocating PvP in the co-op zone, I'm just saying an all-Hero or all-Villain team should have just as much chance of success in the TF as a mixed team.
Playgrounds are superior to theme parks.

so august maybe (don't think that's quite 6 months so i'm not optimistic on that date) and no hint even that villain epic ATs will be included. nice. yes, i too am very incredibly excited, um yeah, very excited. maybe they'll throw in those tanker/scrapper powersets they did a poll on, since ya know, since hero-side there's been epic ATs for a long long time, they don't need them or anything. good to give more powersets since there haven't been new ones for a long time and they should go to toons that are ranked among the lowest powerset combinations. let's just hope that's not the only ATs that get love.

I really think they're shooting for end of July. The first possible date for the 39th month Veteran Reward is July 28th, and (assuming the VR's are going to continue past 36 months, which I think is a safe assumption) I'm sure they'd like to be able to award it in a timely fashion. I just don't see them pushing a patch forward for *just* the new Vet Rewards; it makes more sense that the next batch is included in the issue 10 code the same way the originals were in the issue 8 code.
That doesn't mean they'll actually be able to get it live by then, but I'm willing to bet they're going to try.
My hope is that Issue 10 will go live on July 4th.
I have a great speech I want to give in Broadcast on that day.
I really have to laugh at all the whining that people have done about I10. It makes me realize just how much Cryptic has spoiled us with their free content patches. In all the other MMOs that I've ever played, none of them have given us the amount of substance in their free updates, with the possible exception of Eve Online, that Cryptic gives with their's. It's rather amusing, really....
That said, I'm psyched about I10. Lots of new missions, updated zone, co-op missions, and another Rikti Invasion. Anyone who was around for the end of Beta event will be able to tell you how much fun the invasion was. I'm really looking forward to it.

Umm, I thought i10 was already set before the poll was taken, and they said there were no powersets in i10.

Yeah, Powersets will most likely be I11. I sent in a question/suggestion regarding the recent Powerset Polls, and got an answer back that I, and the game community, would be very happy with what they're currently working on/finalizing for I11 in regards to powersets.
Here's hoping.
My suspicion is that the issues are in development more like 9 months to a year out, or more. So if they picked some new power sets from a recent poll, look for them in about Issue 13.
