I used to love it, admin in leagues, was part of the PvP committee thing, been in every league from the start, done the ladders, etc.

Lately I could really care less about it. Just became to much of an arms race for me and more of the same thing, fighting the same 20 or so people over and over again, hoping around, ice, fire, zzzzz.

Think I am becoming a non fan of MMO pvp and will stick too FPS games for my fix of that gaming environment.

I love the concept of PvP, the idea of competing against other players and having fun. The problem is, way too many people focus on the "competition" bit and forget about the "fun".

When I go to the park with my kids and watch neighborhood soccer games, with the dads on the sidelines screaming at their kids to do better, the refs for "cheating", etc., it becomes all too evident what the problem is.

PvP is the dregs of the internet given the anonymity to indulge their immature tendencies in an environment that rewards them.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I'd have to agree there. Most PvPers are very immature and out to ruin others day. I say REAL PvPers play FPS because at least there evreyone knows what they are getting into and it's harder to pull the bs of having better gear than your enemy all the time and then thinking your actually good at PvP. These are the kinda people who would punch out children and then think they are good at hand to hand combat.

I like PvP. I don't like PvPers.

I'm not talking about the good half. The ones who like a challenge, who when defeated will say "Good job, let's go again."

I'm talking about the ones who will scream "Cheat!" if you beat them one on one but will crow about how skilled they are if they jump you with two of their friends along.

Unfortunately the latter comprise a large percentage of the pvp community.

It's hard to play a game of baseball when several players are trying to deliberately bean the batter, spike the second baseman as they slide into the base, and screaming insults at the opposing team. The real players often just give up and go home hoping that the next time they go to the field the petulant brats won't be there.

Short answer, no.

I would probably like PvP, if not for the PvPers. I'd like to think that it's an ugly minority who ruins PvP, but in my experience the good PvPers are the minority.

My first experience with PvP was right after Warburgh opened; I barely got into the zone before I was dog piled by a team of two Controllers and two Blasters. Against a solo Empath. Clearly they weren't looking for a challenge or a fair fight, they were looking to pound someone. Nothing in my experience since then has made me think that was an anomaly. For all the talk PvPers engage in about how PvP offers a challenge lacking in PvE, most of them seem to prefer fighting those who are out matched, out numbered, or just not interested.

I've earned the 'time spent' badges in every PvP zone on two characters, so I've spent a fair amount of time in the environment. Since my unpleasant early experiences, I've adopted a pretty simple approach: I refuse to engage in any form of combat nor will I run. When attacked, I sit down, wait to be killed, go to the hospital and then resume my activity. Every so often I'll come across someone who will back off when they realize I won't fight back, but those are the extreme minority. Most of them will gleefully "defeat" me, often many times.

Maybe it's me, but I just can't imagine wanting to play against someone who's not interested. It would be like me walking up to someone, slamming down a deck of cards and announcing, "We're playing poker."

"But I don't want to play."

"I don't care; we're playing."

"I'm just going to let you win."

"I don't care; we're still playing."

I can think of another thing people do regardless of if the other person is interested...hit on them. So look at PvPers who kill people who aren't interested and compare them with stalker types...

Do I like PvP?

No.

As the OP requested, further comment by me is reserved for another thread.

I want to like PvP but in my experience personal skill has very little to do with being successful.

I also think there are far too many imbalances to make actively PvPing worthwhile.

So No i do not like PvP as it is currently.

Yes, I like Arena PvP.

Zone PvP is silly.

Don't take it personally if you think I was mean to you. I'm an ******* to everyone.

It's a penguin thing. Pingu FTW.

PVP No - but the Devs seem to want to promote it. They have less work to do with story lines and zones if people just fight each other.

Maybe.

I do PvP every now and then (only in zones and only very casually) but the system as it stands now is the laughing stock of the MMO PvP world. With a bit of an overhaul, it could be very, very good.

Wrong.

I like WoW's PVP - well, the battlegrounds anyway. I don't play on the pvp servers, but I like the BGs - gear matching, short term, defined objectives, somewhat defined teams.

Here, the arena should be similar, but it isn't

I like pvp in COH/V.

No.

And I don't think the devs should devote any more time or resources to it unless it's to make it into something like an open arena match where people enter and leave the zone freely and the player who 'hosts' it can kick and remove players at will.
