Also, the organization of salvage in bins and with worktables in it's current state makes it almost impossible to craft items (or even know what you CAN craft) in a reasonable amount of time - to the point of not wanting to do it at all. *Points up to Hellguard's post*. Please look at this as it will become unfathomably worse once invention salvage is implemented.

I just want to throw my two inf in here...
I'd kill for the ability to just dump ALL of my salvage into storage bins to I can just hit up a table / empowerment station and build all my salvage components. I'd never have to worry about salvage amounts on me and could just jump right in and start crafting stuff.

Thanks for the update, but would the cape crash cause non cape wearers to crash?
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely. I believe I verified a recipe that would cause *my teammates* to crash, which involved my costume plus one of my toggle armors.
I was somewhat reluctant to post the exact recipe on the forums because (a) it could lead to griefing and (b) there were clearly more recipes than just the one I identified. (Also, I only really figured out the last piece of that particular puzzle this past weekend.) If you look through my posts you can see me digging for this info among people who crashed.
That specific bug appears to have been fixed in the latest patch (thanks, Cryptic!) but there may be other combinations of costume and powerset that cause these problems.
Please don't write off the capes/trenchcoat problem by saying "I have a cape/trenchcoat and I never crash". You may not have the pair power that causes the problem, or you may actually be causing those near you to crash without realizing it.

Hmm, that might explain why folks don't crash around me or that I don't crash with a cape on screen... I use a standard cape (original rectangular type) on most of my characters. The same type of cape that has been in the game for years.
Then again, few of my characters have an aura based power, though some do have costume auras.

This is excellent communication, Positron.
Thank you.

THESE are the top issues?
I don't know if it's a 'top' issue, but for months now, seemingly at random, myself and people I've talked to on Pinnacle (perhaps other servers, I don't know for sure there) have had an issue where on leaving a mission, all toggles drop, up to and including sprint. Which can be a mess if you're a tanker and you're loading into a zone where baddies are waiting outside, or you get an after-mission ambush, and perhaps don't even notice that the armors you're always wearing have disappeared. This has caused a few deaths for me.
Police scanner Warehouse missions all [yes I said all] have invisible items the block your way at times. I ahve seen this on both my low level toons and my lvl 49 toon. I should have bugged it and will the next time it happens, but I fear it will go the way of the freakshow mission map with the unmappable area that has yet to be fixed in over a year.
RE:CAPES, while I have a caped costume I seldom wear it in missions because I find the cape movement annoying while fighting. I have never crashed while wearing my cape, and in fact the last time I crashed was during the holiday event and it was not cape related.

It's been a while since I posted a top issues list, and for that I am very sorry.
We've been working on a few of the bigger bugs that have been hindering your overall gameplays and I just wanted to chime in and let you know that we are looking into the following with a high priority:
* Framerate drop when exiting a mission
* Missing (invisible) objects on mission maps.
* Client crash due to capes.
The last thing on the list (the cape crash) is causing us some major headaches and long nights, so it might not get fixed fully in the next build for Training Room, but hopefully it will be improved. For the meantime, if you find yourself on a team that is crashing a lot, you may want to have everyone switch to non-caped costumes for the duration. This includes trenchcoats unfortunately. Not the best solution I know, but we are working hard to get this completely fixed. Watch the boards and patch notes for when it's safe to put your capes back on.
In addition, we've made a bunch of fixes to power FXs for various powers to improve framerates. I don't have a list in front of me, but if I get one today, I will post it into this thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know what would be nice? Maybe some tokens for free costume changes, its expensive having to switch a costume to non cape if you've already redone your original costume to have a cape.
The bug really is a huge pain and maybe put a noticed of this on the updater? Most people who don't read these forums have never heard of it and are endlessly frustrated with the DCs.

Thank you! This is the message I've been waiting for saying "Ok, we have a big problem with crashing, we're working on it, sorry, I know it sux, here's what you can do in the meantime that may help!" You've just taken away a bit of my anger towards the Cryptic crew about not talking much about this problem. You've made a post in Dev digest that addresses it. Partial redemption there for u. Thanks!
Here is one that I believe is completely untrue, but I have to bring it to someone's attention. I asked my wife today 02/15/07 to get me a new time card at our local EB Games, well they informed her that there don't have any and can't get any as they are not being made anymore. I know that it isn't true, but just wanted to let you know.
Cryptic keeps releasing these temp event that totally break the game. Since the new patch I cant leave a mission without memory leak and horrendous lag. Plus all the dc's from corrupted capes/wing, just makes it gravy.
Wow...it sounds like you and I are playing completely different games.
But still I fear and still I dare not laugh at the madman!

I can promise you this, if Pet A.I. ever gets fixed you will see healthier numbers of people playing different powersets instead of the constant FoTM builds.

I doubt that. I really doubt that.

Think about this, why do you think there were so many Fire/kin or illusion/rad controllers as opposed to other controllers sets? Because all the non-fire and non-illusion sets have a much slower time soloing. Some people can deal with the sucky pets but many cant. I am not saying everyone needs to level at break neck speed but at the same time it should not be slower than grass growing. If the pets were more reliable in that aspect you have more folks playing the other sets. Ask any earth controller they will tell you the earth pet sucks. Damage is king in this game it is easy to tell that, having very slow or low damage will make folks either team constantly just to level or they will re-roll another set just to solo easier. Look at masterminds for instance you would see more folks picking thugs if the bruiser was not retarded and doing handclap scattering all the mobs out of aoes. Sure you can not give him upgrades but you end up with a bruiser with not a full attack chain. There are just so many possiblities if the pets worked. I think if the A.I. issues were worked out we would see more folks trying out the other powersets.

I fondly remember a time when no one had capes, and I didn't crash every eight-ten minutes. If we could perhaps, get a control in our options settings to turn off capes that would be a lifesaver for many with the crash issue. I'm still not totally convinced that my issue is a cape crash bug, but something like this place would help with those who don't like them/ are having crash issues/ and yes, even those with lower end computers who just want to improve performance. Fix the issue yes, but give us some kind of workaround without having to rely on N00bHero12345 to have read and agreed to removing his cape while he flies through my screen for 5 seconds.
Then, those of us who have crashing issues can truely narrow down what is indeed causing the problem without X number of people saying "Oh it's the cape bug!" and having their entire thread derailed, or worse ignored until *that* goes away.

1st time poster so sorry if wrong format/thread -
I have played COH/COV a while, starting with some (hate to admit) un-imginative characters. I have started creating and playing with charavters I like a whole lot more now, now that I have gotten into the feel and flow of the game. Problem is that some of the characters I have all but abandoned have collected a LOT of Influence.
My only option with these characters is to 1)Continue to play these guys due to amount of time invested and influence collected OR deleted the character (and influence saved) and start from scratch with my other character(s).
That's why I began to think about how it would be great if a type of 'Influence ATM' could be created for the game world where heroes could deposit/bank Influence. That way if you wanted to delete an old character and start fresh, all the long hours spent grinding and all that influence built up would not be 'wasted'. Players could then create another character, start to play, and visit the 'Influence ATM' that can be stored under your loggin callsign and password so you can switch over/access your built up Influence.
What are the chances of making that happen? My only other best option now is to meet some new person on-line, ask them if I could give them all my old character's Influence, switch characters, then ask them to give most of it back, HOPING they don't disappear with all the Influence I just gave them.

Finding a trustworthy friend to help you transfer your influence and such to another alt isn't that tough, really. And with over a trillion influence out there, influence thieves aren't really a big problem.
There are plenty of people who will join on cross server trades as well! That's where you give someone a bunch of influence on one server and they give you a bunch of influence on a different server. The net result is that you get an influence beachhead on the new server and can afford those DOs and SOs easily.

Hi, and welcome to the forums - hopefully nobody will beat you up over posting this here, since it's specifically related to the current list of major bugs/problems devs are working on right now.
Your best bet would be to take a look at the Suggestions forum - this idea has come up quite often, and if you try searching on keywords like "+influence +transfer" you might find some of the other threads that deal with this.

Only after 32. Ryu, I can't play ANY controller because of how absolutely boring they are to solo from 1-32. Smarter pets isn't going to change that. Illusion and fire are better even BEFORE 32 than the others. I don't believe anything will change.
I am NOT disagreeing with you except on the FOTM point. Pet AI across the board is pretty bad and long due for some fixin.
Be well, people of CoH.

Here's an interesting example. I solo my Dark Miasma characters a lot. I use my pet to soak the "alpha strike" from bosses a lot. I summon him right on the boss.
Typcial spanws are a boss and one minion.
My pet invariably begins to mez and debuff the minion. Always. Every time. Without fail. My strategy ends up being to try non-damaging effects to keep the boss off my pet (his PBAoE effects at least draw the boss's initial aggro) until I can defeat the minion.
Yeah, I have a system that works given what the AI does, but why on earth is his AI like that? Attack the least scary foe first? Bah!

Attacking the foe that's likely to fall more quickly is a legitimate tactic. I wouldn't apply it universally, but it's not a bad rule of thumb.
Having the AI attack the highest ranking foe in a group every time would also be problematic.

If that's so, it might explain the sheer randomness of my crashing a bit more...jumping through a zone, there's a caped hero in my LOS, BAM, crash. Moving through a mish, there's a caped/trenched/winged MOB, BAM, crash. Might make the whole thing make a bit more sense, then.
[/ QUOTE ]
It does to me too now. The whole randomness of it. And before, the devs kept saying it was the capes, when alot us knew trenchcoats seemed to be causing it too. But now that Posi's said that trenchcoats are included in this it makes sense now.
