Seconded. Before WoW, the benchmark for MMP success was 100,000 subscribers. Admittedly, WoW is a HUGE hit. Gigantic. Perhaps biggest in the PC industry ever, but that shouldn't diminish CoH's place as one of the largest North American MMP's. We're well over that 100,000 mark.
There's no way that NCSoft and Cryptic are going to do anything but continue to give CoH everything we can. I'm still playing, designing and playtesting!

i know Statesman has shown up on Guardian numerous times in the past, including leading a team of players through a task force as part of some promotion/convention type thing. i also once saw Statesman at the tram in Skyway City on Guardian once. (No, i didn't think to take a screenshot in time, but it was Statesman's costume.) However, this was well over a year ago. i've seen several Dev characters in game since then, but never Statesman outside of the Portal Corp mission against Tyrant.
As for what servers Jack Emmert plays on, that i have no clue about. i'd expect he plays at least part of the time on the live servers, though for some reason i feel that he plays Controllers more than Tankers. i've known of a number of Devs playing regular accounts on one server or another, though they'll generally never say who they really are, which is perfectly understandable.

Jack, please please please make a mech game! I love giant robots and a world with as much detail as CoH has gotten would be awsome. I've got images of a mech walking around a larger and futuristic Founders Falls now, thank you very much.
But if I could put one more idea into your head, have this fictional game be as customizable as CoH. You can have loot but make it so each piece of equipment as 2 or 3 ( or more ) different styles. That way I could build a mech for looks without making myself weak in the process.
But on a different note, why is Jack posting so much today? Isn't that against the rules or something?

1. Money made from this game is needed to make the new games (or at least make the payments on the loans taken out to make the new games).
2. Step-child is a horrible metaphore. This game has the Cryptic senior staff's guts all over it. It's ALL original to them. They invented all the enemies and heroes from Statesman down to the Crey Cola plot. No way will they ever forget this!

With all respect to Jack, we all know he's going to say that. As a public representative of Cryptic and CoH, theres nothing else he can say, especially on boards owned and operated by their business partners.
To say anything besides "we're going to continue to support CoH just as much as in the past" would be the equivalent of jumping in front of a bus. It would open him up to all sorts of attacks from board posters, and raise questions with Cryptic's business partners, as well as potentially affecting people's decisions on whether or not to keep subscribing.
Thats not to say that its not true, but like a politician, Jack is constrained in what he can and cannot say.

Not just that, but time passes and things change. And that's good. But you can't seriously believe that any company has the same outlook a year later. Any company. Times change, the economy changes, the field that company is in changes. It's not unreasonable to ask about those changes.

I recall him saying he primarily "plays on a server that begins with a V." I could be wrong about who said that, but pretty sure it was him. (And, of course, that could've changed since he said that.)
Why do people get so downhearted about the Marvel MMO?
Look..COH isnt going anywhere. Chances are it WONT be seeing regular updates eventually, but so what?
MMOs dont last forever.. and you should ecstatic that COH was such a big hit that it pulled DC and Marvel into the fold. Now, the same guys who made the game you love, are going to make another game.. next generation, with rights to memorable characters that you grew up with.
How exactly does this equate to a bad thing? You shouldnt be crying that COH is gonna go away, you should be jumping for joy that you will have another good superhero game to migrate too. New content, new powers, new world, same great development team.
